Starting to think we need a replacement for Lambert, he was pretty ineffectual again this afternoon and gave the ball away far too frequently. Rodriguez is developing into some player, with a bit more confidence in himself he could really reach for the stars, and the least said about Gazzaniga the better. He is not good enough for this level. Nothing he has done in his Saints career lets me believe he can be a future regular between the sticks for us, poor decision making and looks like a startled cat in goal most of the time.

I agree with this. I can not either remember a Gazzaniga save of any note.

Not good enough. Doesn't make saves and from what I remember from this season and last his save ratio to shots faced is utterly abysmal. We are in serious trouble with Boruc out, as an aging decrepit Kelvin is nowhere near good enough either.

If I were to create a thread on here entitled Gazzaniga's good and great saves, (hell even routine saves would do) I fear it would be the shortest thread in Saintswebs history..

Gazzaniga nowhere near good enough at this level. As I said in the match thread, you need your goalkeeper to make saves from shots that you don't expect them to (Boruc home vs Swansea this year for instance) In the near game and enough that Gazzaniga has played this season, he has not made one worthwhile save..All I keep hearing is he can't do anything about the goals, that's rubbish, a goalkeepers job is to do something about the goals. Not just judging him on this season, but on last season as well when he made little to no saves of worth in the games he played. As Kelvin is also a disaster waiting to happen, I fear for us. My worst nightmare was Boruc getting injured, and it seems my doomsday scenario is coming to pass.

My point is that good goalies make saves you don't expect them to. That is the point of a goalkeeper. All we ever seem to get with Gazziniga this season and last is next to little saves with an extremely high shots to goals ratio. That says it all about his ability or lack of.

Gazzaniga never seems to make a save. Same as last year, every shot on target goes in.

So even when we are doing well in the league, we still can't have a go at a decent cup run. Surely the ultimate point of football is to try and win things? Rubbish team selection tonight. Haven't managed a single shot on target.
