by selling players....if those figures are accurate (and they might not be tis the net after all) looks like Ralphie might not be such a lying ***** after all. Thanks to our wage bill we won't be funding many player purchases out of the TV money.

Don't know how accurate these things are but this claims our wage bill is £92m https://sillyseason.com/list/salaries/premier-league-wages-per-team-69064/ and this reckons we made 107 million in TV revenue this season if that is reasonably accurate that leaves about 15 million of TV revenue unaccounted for even if the club has no other costs that isn't a lot to spend on players.

So if Ralph is to believed we can only buy if we sell first which is a bit of problem. It looks like our most sellable assets are Bertrand and Cedric but if we sell them most of that money is going to be needed to replace them (unless the club are going to pull another masterstroke of not replacing a player they've just sold with a suitable replacement ala Fonte and Pelle). It seems to me, despite the glaringly obvious issues in the squad, we are probably going to have a quiet summer I can't see us spending big.

Its a good point. Tadic, Pelle, VVD, Victor and Mane all stand out players in the teams they played in. Did well for us. Guido, Lemina, Redmond, Hoj and Gabbi all squad players. Mostly disappointing. Its not an exact science though Bertrand and Romeu where both squad players but have generally done a decent job for us. Boufal was a star in his team and been utterly dreadful for us.

weird I heard it was Ralph fighting Mopes corner....either way no one at the club should be claiming the appointment of Hughes as some sort of planed masterstroke. The club put themselves in a position where he was the only realistic target available at short notice. Luckily they got away with it but it's hardly a pat yourself on the back moment

Which is a good thing imo better than trying to con everyone into thinking we are some Champions league club in waiting like they where trying to do a few seasons back.

Maybe fun is the wrong word but the last few games of the season certainly had a certain adrenaline buzz about them that the end of last season didn't.

Bit of a worry seeing as I doubt we could give a lot of the current squad away let alone get decent money for them...

A poor squad fronted by the best natural striker we've had in years in Kane and another very decent one in Vardy. Really need to set the whole team up to give Kane the ammo he needs but we probably won't.

Pretty much this. If you are going to set yourself up as a club that buys good players to sell on for profit a couple of season latter you have to keep buying good players and you really have to put that profit back in to strengthening into the 1st team for the model to work. It's not like you'll get a 100% hit rate on new transfers but you need to be getting a lot more transfers right than wrong. The last two summer we've have made a lot of poor transfers both in terms of the quality of the players themselves and not buying players to cover the obvious gapping holes in the squad.

Maybe that want to announce it at the same time as the new ST prices try and get a feel good factor going for ST sales and distract us from the fact the ST prices have gone up ( or been frozen)..

and we still won't keep them.... the only way for us to keep top players is to have a stupidly wealthy owner prepared to stick two fingers up to FFP and turn us into a new Man City or Chelsea...

It seems like a lot of people would take Hughes because they are terrified what Les and co will saddle us with instead of him rather than because they think he is a particularly good manager. I can totally understand that.
