Because contracts are water tight in football Anyway I was reading the other day that the owner (forgotten his name) was asked about BFS staying beyond the end of the season and his answers gave the impression BFS was not in Everton's plans after this season.
-
True but to bury one of Cedric's crosses, this season, we'd need to play a 12 foot giant up front....
-
Yes it's almost like people think he is just going jump in his car and drive down to SMS to beg for the job and been in post by tomorrow. Where as Everton have made no secret of the fact BFS is a temporary appointment and Silva is very much on their radar. A more likely scenario than him taking over a struggling saints side is him taking a nice winter break before joining Everton in the summer.
-
opps sorry I forgot...its like Walcott desperate to sign until evil Les drove him up to Mersyside himself and forced him to sign for Everton.
-
I'm not convinced our attacking players (Austin aside) just seem to be a bit **** at shooting that's not down to the manager they are just a bit crap.
-
I imagine he is pointing out the two teams propping up the current form league are Watford and Saints.
-
more to the point is the idea that if we offer him the job he wouldn't for one moment turn it down...its quite possible he doesn't fancy a second relegation in two seasons. Its also quite possible he is happy to take a few months off before joining Everton next summer
-
Do we know Silva actually wants the Job? its all very well saying "take Silva" but maybe he doesn't want the job.....
-
You can bet it won't be any of the ones responsible for the relegation though..
-
So Koeman left June 2016 so its possible (though of course I have no proof) that the decline could have been created by the protracted take over that caused uncertainty around the club and a general lack of focus from Les and co.
-
When did the take over stuff start? It does feel like the protracted take over by the Chinese started to impact the club with uncertainty hanging over everything. But yeah our recent transfer windows have been **** poor in hindsight.
-
A short term contract until the end of the season might suit both parties then?
-
but weirdly gets little credit for the several seasons before that which was always someone else.
-
I'm not a big fan I don't think Silva is particular good and clearly if the reason for sacking him are true he is a bit of a **** to but..................... he can't do any worse than the current **** so even if its just a short term new manager bump might as well give him a go.

Does a new manager improve the teams chances of survival?

Appointing a Strachan or O'Neil (hasn't he just signed a new contract with Ireland?) on a short "keep us up contract" would go against the all club PR. We've spent years building this fantasy brand as the club that is forward thinking, future proofed, youth promoting, canny in the transfer market all while playing stylish football to appoint WGS would make all that seem like a lie and the board can't have that. -
We shouldn't forget that Pelle was an absolute donkey who offered no movement up front as well.

when your attacking options go from this to this

Not "totally" irrelevant as what he is doing right now shows he is perfectly capable of doing a good job with a decent squad. I keep saying it but what last season and to extant this season has shown is how the squad is not nearly as good as some fans keep making out this idea that they should be finishing top half is a fallacy. People seem incapable of looking at the job the manager does in a wider context of what else is going on around the club and in the league. One example being the difference in quality between the big six last season and the season before when Leicester won the league which helps to account for the big points drop off the top 6 (well that and three missed penalties in the last few games of the season). Given the changes in the squad (eg selling both our top scorers), the fact it was his first season in the PL, the extra fixtures from Europe and the cup, injuries and Jose Fonte being a **** Puel did a decent job last season.
-
Depends what you're comparing it to it was good compared to Everton's attempt this season
-
You've already broken this story CB what are your ITK contacts telling you about tomorrows game? Which new signings will be in the crowd come on I need to know so I can spill the beans on twitter..

Well it certainly can't make it any worse... -

Not fashionable to say but maybe the players might shoulder some of the blame for being a bit ****e to. As much as I don't rate MoPe I'm pretty sure he never instructed Forster to keep letting in shots he should save, or defenders to switch off at vital moment, Midfielders to give balls away in dangerous places around our box or for strikers to try and hit the corner flag when through on goal. Mope is still ****e as well but our highly paid professional footballers are hardly covering themselves in glory either. -
arguably because of the ****e state of the squad something we failed to address properly again in the summer. As Puel is showing, at Leicester, if we had given him better tools we'd have done better.
-
I'm absolutely certain if Puel was still here we wouldn't be staring relegation in the face. I doubt we would be anywhere near 7th either but we would be better organised than the current clown has us. Of course Ryan Bertrand wouldn't be happy so it was probably best to sack Puel to keep him happy....
