But if Gabbi is unable to adapt his game why are we assuming the rest of the squad can adapt instead? The consensus is Gabbi needs us to play certain way to get the best out of him but that our other players can't provide that type of service so either Gabbi needs to adapt or the rest of the squad do either way we are requiring someone to deviate from their natural game.

Apparently we should have signed Rooney first...(also a 140K a week ) Theo Walcott reveals the role Wayne Rooney played in him leaving Arsenal and securing a £20million move to Everton Theo Walcott has revealed Wayne Rooney played a "massive" part in him leaving Arsenal*for Everton in a deal worth £20million this January. The 28-year-old underwent a medical and thrashed out personal terms at Finch Farm, before putting pen to paper on a deal worth £140,000-a-week. https://www.msn.com/en-gb/sport/football/theo-walcott-reveals-the-role-wayne-rooney-played-in-him-leaving-arsenal-and-securing-a-%C2%A320million-move-to-everton/ar-AAuQD7V?li=AAmiR2Z&ocid=spartandhp

Not sure the two against Everton were. It does feel like we lack an aerial threat up front though.

You know we are 4th in the league for crosses this season. They might not all be great quality but we certainly put a lot in. https://www.premierleague.com/stats/top/clubs/total_cross

Quite right I like to give a new player at least 15 minutes of game time to impress me.. Seriously though I wouldn't mind some one who could get his head on a few more of our crosses or maybe JWP corners.

No idea.

Yep I agree. Forester's contract last summers stands out as an odd decision he was awful for large chunks of last season rewarding him with a new contract was bizarre. Players like Long and Davis we should have been looking to upgrade on as well.
-
So in effect he can't adapt to the game we need him to play as a lone striker so we might as well part ways with no hard feelings.
-
Ok so if Gabbi is an intelligent footballer why doesn't change his game up. Yes his team mates could do more but if he just keeps doing the same runs expecting his team mates to suddenly start finding him despite all the evidence they won't how intelligent is he?

Clearly right now a new manager might have an impact. The squad has clearly deteriorated the last couple of seasons and ultimately I don't expect any manager to be getting us back up to higher mid-table without major squad surgery. We should have enough to avoid the relegation that MoPe seems to be taking us towards however. Having said that I think this season and our decline can't really be laid at the door of just one individual event or person it's the slow culmination of a bunch of factors that seem to have caught up with us.
-
Mistakes aside you don't think it made some interesting points about how (perceived) mid table clubs keep the momentum going season after season?

Wasn't it propaganda football?

Yep just goes to show its a combination of things all coming together at once that is causing this situation that a simple solution, such as changing the manager, or getting a new player in won't change on their own. Time for a major re think by the board on how we remain competitive in this league ( if indeed we can stay in this league)
-
I think that arguement works both ways...
-
The flip side is what is the point having a creative outlet if you don't have anyone who can actually put the ball in the net. Arguably Tadic had no problem racking up the assists as a creative outlet when we had Pelle and Mane in the team.
-
Weren't we linked with fella well before Walcott? As he is an ex player of the current manager and a big CF I imagine he probably was in and around our top targets. The more worrying thing is he seems to be a MoPe signing which would suggest MoPe isn't going anywhere soon.
-
He might do a decent job for us next season..in the championship

**** me high horses alert.... the only person moaning is the OP just about everyone is having a bit of a laugh god knows we could do with one at the moment.
-
as long as he hates pompey...
-
Maybe we could get Tonya Harding's ex husband to sort something out before the game....
-
I believe his other moniker is CB fry...
-
Thought they would have flown a couple of first teamers in to liven things up.... Might as well make the players do a bit of work for their wages **** knows they aren't earning them on the pitch.
-
Tbf assists are rather linked to the quality of the player scoring the goals setting up Sanchez is probably a lot easier than setting up Shane "1 goal in 30" Long

Nicola Cortese wants to return to English footie

Whether you liked big Nic or not its pretty irrelevant the current ownership ( of which Kat is still part of) aren't bringing him back and even if they did he wouldn't have the freedom to do things the way he did last time under the current ownership. -
Someone said on another thread Austin is out until march surely the club need to bring another striker in Jan if that's true ( actually they still need to bring in a striker even if it's not true).
