How? We get more money but so does every other team in the league. In the mean time the players and their agents are demanding more to get their cut of the new cash and the cost of player transfers have shot up when ever a PL club is trying to buy. Everyone got richer with the new TV money but it didn't really change the status quo.
-
On the other hand we probably shouldn't be looking to move on a player who can actually tuck a peno away given recent events...

Saints 0 Man Utd 0 - Buildup, Match and over-reactions Thread
doddisalegend replied to Heisenberg's topic in The Saints
Hardly surprising he probably feels he has a solid first season in English football, that while could be improved on, certainly doesn't merit getting sacked and yet all the press seemingly want to talk about is speculation on his future. -
So Cedric is upset that he is now first choice at RB? Did he prefer watching Cuco playing as Koeman's prefered choice last season then? Not quite sure way Forster would have a problem with Puel either. Given his form this season most managers would have put someone else in goal by now but Puel has stuck with him through out the season he should be pretty grateful Pretty sure Austin has come on twitter rubbishing the claims that has been a problem in the dressing room this season as carp Some players at every club are upset about something. When poch left it came in the press that not all the players loved him. When Koeman left we were told that Mane, Tadic and every player under 22 had a problem with him. I think there is difference between some players being unhappy (which seems pretty normal) and a full scale dressing room revolt.
-
Has he lost it or its a just a couple of players? I imagine those like Romeu, JWP, McQueen, Yoshida and Stephens are all pretty happy with the way the season has paned out. Tadic will be upset but then when isn't he? Jrod and Long probably are but that smacks of two players trying to cover up their own very obvious failings this season by laying the blame on the manager.

The stat I linked to was shots on target so that holds no weight what so ever. We are also bottom of the table for shots to goals conversion rate despite having the 8th most shots On Target in the league if you cant see that our biggest problem this season is finishing there is no hope for you.
-
so yeah basically backs up my point we can't finish and haven't been able to most of the season....
-
Possibly our away form has been decent this season but those stats are from the official PL site so they aren't just made up.
-
sign him up how much do you think Chelsea will want...
-
and yet oddly we have had the 8th most shots on target of any team in the PL https://www.premierleague.com/stats/top/clubs/ontarget_scoring_att?se=54 have actually had the most crosses in the PL https://www.premierleague.com/stats and are only 8th in the PL for backwards passes (interestingly the teams that have passed backwards more than us are oh yeah the current top 7) https://www.premierleague.com/stats/top/clubs/backward_pass there is nothing wrong with the way we play in general (though you can get **** games like hull) what has killed us this year is a totally inability to ****ing score when we get our chances. No goals = boredom which is understandable.
-
For those wanting to compare the O/S has the stats for our 4 forwards this season that are pretty illuminating and show just how **** poor Long has been. https://southamptonfc.com/first-team/shane-long https://southamptonfc.com/first-team/jay-rodriguez https://southamptonfc.com/first-team/charlie-austin https://southamptonfc.com/first-team/manolo-gabbiadini Major surgery needed on our forward options this summer
-
We don't have time for players to play their way into form over the course of a season Long and Jrod have had considerably more playing time than Austin and Gabbi and yet have less goals.
-
Hazard was still **** after Jose left and did not turn up until the spurs game at the end of the season. Sometimes it's the players who let the manager down...
-
No surprise he has to be carried through most games
-
Austin stays as he can actually score a pen plus despite not being a particularly talented footballer he still gets goals. Long and Jrod need to go maybe replace them with Josh king ( 16 league goals this season) and bring Gallagher into the first team.
-
Gus and Jose are poor managers now?
-
I see Josh king has got his 16 goal of the season for the Bournemouth today we really should be looking at that guy.
-
9% conversion rate this season probably just gone down to 8%....
-
Of course. Just like Mane stayed once Koeman did one....
-
by 3pts having played a game more. If we are looking for a new manager based on that table (and assuming the top 7 managers are not available) we should be looking to appoint Paul Clement or Craig Shakespeare...
-
Well at least that should people asking for Eddie Howe...
-
The new match day stewards are already in training
-
course you did.. Season tickets will be available to renew from 9am on Monday 22nd May through to Monday 19th June.* http://www.afcb.co.uk/news/article/2016-17/-3712841.aspx

Exactly. It's a handy excuse for players looking to leave.. but even if we managed to poach Pep from Man city and Puel became citeh boss( ) these players would still leave saints for man city....
-
I think he was doomed from the start with a lot of our fan base. To many people had convinced themselves we were getting Pellegrini last summer . Puel's only chance to win people over was a fast start which didn't happen. Personally think no matter who came in considering the players lost, the less than stellar replacement signings last summer and the general strengthening of the big six this season was always going to feel like going backwards.
