  1. what the 5'11" full back who can cover as a CB....
  2. People wanted us to have a go at a big team and that's what we did and err well yeah that worked....
  3. Well having a go against a big team worked as well as trying to keep it tight. Squad just lacks quality this season. Need a new keeper, better options in midfield and a proper leader in the back four... Big summer ahead for Les
  4. Lol on Solent whispering Dave suggesting Puel goes three strikers upfront Long, Jrod and Gabbi..
  5. We picked up a point off Liverpool and a point of Man City so by your own criteria we have picked up two points off the big six....
  6. You mean we virtually don't have a goalkeeper....
  7. No leadership at the back someone needs to be organising the defensive unit at set pieces.
  8. That's the thing with Boufal you want him taking people on around their area were losing the ball is rarely fatal not in our half when losing the ball causes us real problems. Chelsea have gone up a gear the last few minutes
  9. Well we aren't sitting back and inviting them on but having a good go fair play
  10. I don't see why there has to be a big reason. Season is all but over we aren't going down we (at a stretch) might nick 8th. The manager might as well use these games to give a few players a go and work out who he wants next season. Even after the weekend we stayed 9th in the table so this game against the champions elect is a free hit.
  11. So our only back up defender is Caceres tonight? Redmond the only game changer on the bench to.
  12. I think its averaging out at about one a week
  13. I've said it before but the perfect song for modern day saints fans is the Smiths Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now but for the players perhaps Iron Maidens Die With Your Boots On ok the song might not mean football boots but the players should get the idea Failing that Dire Straits Money For Nothing would be perfect for the players with just a few subtle changes to the Lyrics (I want my Sky TV)
  14. Doubt it Jrod clearly wants regular football and hopefully we are looking to off load him as we only have room in the squad for one striker who can't score and Long has that position sown up. I think we will be going with Austin(second choice) and Gabbi(main) playing up front next season with back up from Long and Gallagher no place for Jrod next season.
  15. Hazard will go down like a sack of **** every time Romeu breaths on him, the Ref will lap it up and Wilian will be creaming himself at the chance to take free kicks at a static Forster all game.
  16. If that's is true it's a bit of a joke really councils shouldn't be helping out cash rich PL clubs in this day an age.
  17. Looks like we are scouting potential abroad http://www.bing.com/news/apiclick.aspx?ref=BDIGeneric&aid=C98EA5B0842DBB9405BBF071E1DA7651530FFE51&tid=4DE6C1F87C3742908990784CF934E5CF&url=https%3a%2f%2fwww.standardmedia.co.ke%2fsports%2farticle%2f2001237346%2fsouthampton-to-train-kenyan-youths-in-nairobi&c=15241648350166804783&mkt=en-gb
  18. I'd argue the opposite. The fact McQueen, Sims and Stephens have all made it into the first team and not looked out of place despite playing in some big games would suggest that our youngsters are not as bad as Koeman tried to make out I expect to see Sam Gallagher in and around the first team next season as well. Puel also had a choice he wouldn't be the first manager to play a seasoned pro out of position rather than a youth player but he was brave enough to take the punt on youth.
  19. U23s sides are hard to gage though. Firstly teams can add overage players which can skew results. Secondly if your best u23s players are being called up to the first team or sent out on loan the gaps are normally plugged by under 18s resulting in a drop in the quality of the side. Plus the whole point of under 23s is development or match fitness rather than winning at all costs.
  20. Yes he did. Lets face it Koeman, in that situation, would have put Betrand in at CB and played Cuco as a left back anything but put trust in a youngster...
  21. Koeman saying I give youth more chances than English managers is one of those great media sound bites that the press will lap up but doesn't really stack up considering the English manager contingent of the PL is Howe, Fat Sam, Dyche and Shakespeare all managing teams flirting with relegation at times this season.
  22. Well here's one take on it http://backpagefootball.com/season-uncertainty-southamptons-hit-miss/114213/
  23. There always seem to be rumours that some player or another is upset, every season, but then again how many of us don't get ****ed off with work at some stage.
  24. Really id say Davis had a much better game. I still think Hoj was bought as a long term replacement for Davis but right now looks way off being an upgrade on Davis and won't be replacing him any time soon.
