Sants 0 - Everton 3: Post match rage thread
doddisalegend replied to Bewildered's topic in The Saints
TBF after 2 games we had exactly the same number of points as we do now. Difference was last season was no one was expecting much. Where as this year some dinlows think we should be pushing for CL like Leicester -

Long kept drifting into the middle (were he kept getting Pelle's way) and no one was covering him as a result Targett was left isolated and up against it. With some decent covering by those in front he is decent back up for odd games and injuries but he clearly isn't as good as Bertrand. -

Thing is since the take over we have seen pretty much constant success at the club to the point were some of our support have gained a rather over inflated idea of our place in the footballing hierarchy as well as rather over the top expectations. I think it's pretty unlikely we will do as well as last season not because I think our team in carp or all our new recruits are league 1 standard but purely because constantly bettering your position year in year out is a bloody hard thing to do. Sadly a far number have convinced themselves we are on the verge of being a CL side when in fact a top 10 finish is a good result for us. -

How well do you think we would have done if we had forced all those want away players to stay against their will last season? -

Now that's clearly not true remember last season when we won every game playing brilliant football never had an off day ever .I remember how we slaughtered villa away, remember the away game at Burnley hammered them completely and how we outclassed Man city at home. Nope never had an off day last season ever..... no sir never. -

We looked much better when he came on I think he will be a good addition to the team having said that I didn't expect him to start because he has only been at the club a few days. Starting Reed next to Victor with Davis in the 10 role would have made more sense as a starting 11 IMO keep it tight. The last two games we've looked very open. -
No protection for our full backs again today Long keeps drifting in to the middle and no one moves over to cover leaving targett exposed time and again targett is getting turned inside out. Get the new bloke on and move Davis over to the left. Cedric isn't getting much from Tadic either watching him trying to stop Luakuku earlier for the first goal was like watching a small animal trying stop a bulldozer. Also second game in a row when we've conceded from us having a corner getting done with a quick counter attack.
-
According to the BBC stats both teams, between them, managed 3 shots on target

Just become ...hasn't it pretty much always been? Still there is some good saints related stuff in between all the **** swinging.
-
Just leave JWP out put Mane in the middle and put Long up against their youngster.

Sky reporting Fonte in talks with Villa

For PL clubs maybe not sure how we would feel about it if we were still knocking around in league 1. -
Pochettino terrible at picking players in the transfer market.

Mopo goes to great lengths to tell everyone he is only the head coach, and not the Manager, at Spurs the implication being player recruitment isn't his department "If you are the manager, you decide many things about the club. But if you are a head coach, your responsibility is to play better and try to improve the players and to get positive results," Pochettino said "The head coach is not the same as the manager. If not, why am I not called the manager? I am the head coach." "In Southampton, I was a manager. My responsibility was not only to coach the team. Here I am a head coach – a head coach is head of your department. My department is to train the team," -

The thing is when you hear this stuff now although I'm 99% sure it's untrue, after last summer, I always have a little doubt.....must go and say some Hail Marys for my sins -

Seeing as Vlaar is a free agent that would be pretty odd thing for us to do -

Which would give us a back five of which four would be new players (3 new to the PL) this season and lacking Fonte's leadership at the back wouldn't be ideal IMO. -

Wow I'd be surprised still life left in him yet and he is the main organiser of our, quite frankly excellent last season, defence. We don't want to many new faces in the team got to improve while keeping some continuity IMO. Can't believe the club are going to get that much of a pay out to make it worth selling our best defender and captain. Then again after last summer I won't take anything for granted..... -

Frankly playing as a DM Cork would have easily got in the team ahead of the last three. What kept him out was Morgan and Victor both playing blinders and Cork getting injured just when his chance to stake a claim came. Last season he played every game for Swansea after he moved there and could very well end up playing in a team that finishes higher than saints this season not bad for a player you constantly seem to want to belittle. -
