The thing is we did that last season didn't we? and still didn't really get results against the big teams and couldn't beat teams like Sunderland playing that way either.

In the game I watched Alderweireld was I our best player by a mile he is way above the level of our team probably should be playing for Citeh HTBH even playing as a DM he was a class above.

We don't make very good use of set pieces at all. I wonder if the Statos can tell us how many goals we have got from corners and free kicks this season I can't think off any of the top of my head. We are having a good season but it could be better if we were more of a threat from set pieces.

But we had Steven Davis playing and still lost..........

Lets be honest disappointing as this (and probably the next few games) is. I bet there isn't one of us who wouldn't have bitten someone's hand off if they had offered our current position back in August when the PL kicked off. Our great start has probably raised expectations unrealistically which is why this result feels worse than it should.

Victor poor today IMO getting a yellow card early on didn't help but he gives the ball away cheaply and he steamed into to many tackles when on a yellow. Not that we could replace him with Cork out with a virus and JWP injured we only had Reed....though it doesn't say much for Reed if we Koeman would rather play a CB than him in the DM position.

Need to do better against the top sides or like last season we will probably finish around 8th...

And the slide begins just like last season. Why do our best players always seem to pick up injuries in or around the big games? Lack of depth on the bench will always kill us every time. Not good enough to beat the big sides still as long as we beat the lower and mid table sides we can stay in the top half which is the most a club like ours can hope for really.

Hopefully Steven won't get Gastonillitis the condition whereby an injured/dropped player gets better every week they are not playing

For the Love of god Steven Davis is not under rated. I really don't know one saints fan who doesn't rate him.

I don't think we were that bad against Villa, we weren't at our best, yet we were still far better than Villa who only scored thanks to a cock up by our keeper. Other than Chelsea which other teams have played like a top two team. Man city hardly looked quality struggling against QPR or losing to Stoke did they?

Artistic Licence I think makes for a better story. I think a lot of us expected Mopo to leave but nothing like what happened.

2 if you count Corks 2 minutes but you look at that team who out played City last season and you have to say this seasons team look a lot better.
