Lawro predicting a Saints win against West brom and thinks we need another striker...... Southampton v West Brom Like Palace and West Ham, here are two more teams who played well last weekend but were a bit unlucky. West Brom played all the football against Sunderland but ended up sharing the points. And I was very impressed by Southampton despite their defeat by Liverpool. Saints were solid defensively and carried a real threat going forward. On that showing, it did not look like they were missing all the players who left over the summer. They still looked like a team, not a collection of individuals - which I thought they might be because of their turnover of players over the summer. My only reservation about Southampton is how many goals they have got in them - I know they have signed Shane Long and Graziano Pelle this summer but, unless they strengthen further, I am not sure they will be as strong up front as they are in other areas. It is the same for West Brom. They are competitive in all areas but how they do up front is what will decide whether they have another season struggling to stay up. So the pressure is on their new £10m striker Brown Ideye to deliver when he makes his competitive debut. Lawro's prediction: 2-0

Fine by me I go to watch the football. Hell I'd ban mobiles to so I didn't have to listen to people having conversations with their girlfriends/mums/mate on the other side of SMS or constantly, and loudly, providing updates on the Man U match every sodden 2 minutes.

Normally I'd agree but this early in the season it might pay to give our strongest 11 a run out. ots of new players in the squad who would probably benefit from extra match time together to help the mystical gelling process.

how many crosses though if only managed one cross last season and got it spot on he'd have a 100% accuracy record. Wasn't he injuried a lot last season? or I'm I imagining that?

Actually it's about having a bit of both so you can have more than one game plan. No one is suggesting we have a team of nothing pacey wide players any more than a team of nothing but intelligent gifted ball players...A good team needs a bit of everything

I'm pretty sure the numbers are always a bit lower first few games of the season due to summer holidays I know at least 3 people not going this weekend, because they are on holiday, who would go normally. Personally due to cost I always try to go to Cat C games like Burnley and cup games as it's a bit less money plus I'm more likely to see a win:D

What would you like the project to be? I thought the club said European football (Europa I assume not CL) realistically staying in the PL, a cup or an outside shot at the Europa league is about the best a club like ours can hope for IMO.

Only had Solent to go by but I was really encouraged by todays performance. We have a very new team with whole load of players still settling in and learning each others games, and the still gave Liverpool a very hard game on their home turf, just imagine how good this team might get after a few games to click and I reckon we will be fine this season.

Bit harsh that's probably the first bad game Davis has had for a very long time happens to everyone no reason to drop him after one dodgy game.

I do like Redmond but he'll cost just as much if not more. I'd have no problem with us signing Andros it seems RK wants pace down the wings and Andros fills that roll I'd say.

I'd go along with that I think Yoshida is a decent enough defender with a decent tackle his main problem seems to be some suicidal attempts at clearances and a habit of giving the ball away with sloppy passing.

yeah but out field players know they are more likely to get game time even from the bench you can get subbed on. Keepers who are on the bench generally stay there finding a good keeper who is happy to play second fiddle is not that easy I reckon.
