Sky Sources: New 5 Year Contract offered to Jay Rodriguez
doddisalegend replied to Colinjb's topic in The Saints
That assumes he gets an offer from a team that can afford a massive signing on bonus and that probably depends on him recapturing the form he had before his injury. If I was him I'd be inclined to accept the safety net of a nice 5 year contract with us, in case things don't go according to plan, knowing I can still move on if a better offer comes in. -

To quote you on every player linked with a move this summer.........."we all know he is leaving" -

How the hell should I know but no reason not to sign as far as I can see having a contract hasn't stopped all the others leaving. -
I'm not expecting anything but a loss and not to bothered about that it's not likely to be a game the defines our season. More interested in getting the team together and then picking up the points we need against the mid and lower table sides. I wouldn't be to upset if Pelle accidently injured Lovern though.........

Not really. J-rod might as well sign the contract from saints what ever. It gives him piece of mind in case his injury recovery doesn't go to plan and means he knows he has money coming for the next five years. As this summer has shown if he gets a better offer the contract won't stop him leaving anyway. He doesn't need to have any belief in SFC the contract just gives him security until Spurs come calling. -
I remember Lambert being slated for not winning enough headers or Jumping/trying plenty of times over the last five years
-
I'd be inclined to have Gaston as a starter maybe bringing on Isgrove as a sub last 15 miniutes think he could do some damage against a tired defence. What I did like about Isgrove is he gets back to help defend well needs more going forward though.
-
Thought Ryan looked a decent addition to the squad yesterday quick, decent defender and gets forward well. He might not be Luke Saw but he looks like a big upgrade on Danny Fox. I think the club have made a good signing on this one.
-
Jesus Mayuka was bad yesterday looked almost shocked to be in the penalty area after Corks defence splitting pass yesterday like a rabbit in headlights.
-
Off to Arsenal then....

Fraser Forster Joins on 4 Year Deal - Official

Good news Artur needs to know he is not a shoe in for the number one spot plus we now have two decent keepers something we lacked last season. A lot of talk of who is going to be first choice keeper but maybe Ronald could just take a leaf out of Man City's book Pellegrini must decide who to play in Sunday’s Community Shield against Arsenal at Wembley after acknowledging that he now has ‘two No 1 goalkeepers’. Yes the most notable thing was both teams seemed to lack a cutting edge up front. I liked Leverkusens tall bald CB (number 21 I think) anyone know who he was can we bid for him:p
-
Looked liked he'd been sailing a yacht up and down the Solent before kick off
-
From the short time he was on he looked busy, some nice passing, looked to find space for himself and got stuck into some tackles all in all looked decent. Needs time to get to know his team mates though a few times I saw him and Cork getting each others way as they both tried to go for the same ball or occupy the same space. Oh and he gets bonus points for the haircut. I was most impressed by Tadic though reckon that he is going to be really good for us this season.
-
In fairness if Adam was still here he wouldn't played anyway as he would have been on strike with Morgan
-
Clearly any team would miss Morgan but if forced we could get by without him IMO. Midfield is decent with some excellent players we need more strikers though and at least another CB.
-
I think you were. Tadic and Clyne linked up really well in the 1st half and looked really dangerous every time they got forward IMO.
-
Saves me a load of writing pretty much sums up were I stand. I thought all the new players looked good but Tadic really stood out. You could tell that this was a very new team though a lot of the understanding from last year is gone and it might take a while to get that back. Still need another CB (or two) and need more firepower up front IMO but I think we will be OK this season.

This must be this new open communication thing the club were on about Les reed just trawls around the car park at SMS telling everyone he meets about the in's and outs of our transfer business. Could we not just get him a saintsweb account then Les could give the whole board this info rather than me trying to catch him in the car park?
-
Why am I slightly worried that Les is happy to discuss the clubs transfer business with people he meets in a car park:?

Morgan's head gone- Update: It has been re-attached

Yes Ron is impressing me more each week. Not exactly an easy start to his saints career but he is handling it well so far IMO. -
I know what you did last summer.................meat hook welding Les Reed taking the squad out one at a time

I see 25% of the fee goes to Newcastle as a sell on fee probably explains the price. Frankly we need another good keeper Kelvin is past his best and gazza just isn't PL. Another good signing from the board looks like some CBs are in the pipe line just need a bit more firepower upfront now.
