To me it seems to be a general feeling of relief that we'd sorted out a new manager (I think any manager would have got a similair reaction at the time) and hope he could sort things out (which of course he has) rather than mass hysteria that Nigel was the second coming....

Or maybe learn from their mistakes...............

Has there ever been an offical announcement about what happened with JP? I've never seen one. Its all "Gladys the cleaning lady at SMS great nephew Bob told me that Jason puncheon acts like a ****". Ergo urban legend among saints fans is Puncheon is a w anker. Not doubt something happened with JP but no one seems to know what it actually was so Puncheon seems to be a scape goat. A useful player that would add to our team, without knowing why, I'd have to say it's a shame he's not playing for us. Of course if the really reason was known we could all make a more informed judgement.

Picked this up on a posh forum I agree with you, having watched Southampton a few times this season, definitely the manager needs to be thinking a thrashing is the last thing we need so perhaps for this match we need a much more defensive line up. Go with the team and tactics yesterday and we will concede five or six. We have for the past season and a bit relied on/developed the attacking nature of our game so personally I'd struggle to name a defensive line up. Given the style of football we play ( a little Keeganish at Newcastle) what do you feel would be our most defensive lineup? Plenty of goals (hopefully mostly from saints) tommorrow surely........

Playing up front suits him so much better. Great interview with him in the matchday programme. Left his last club becuase they played him out on the wing prefers to play up front (you can see why after saturday). Almost jacked it in at saints last season, but loves it here now, the best thing is the people when the fans sing his name it makes him very happy.

I too like to lurk on opposition forums before and after match. In general they are much like this place with same mixture of good,bad and troll posters. One thing I always find interesting is the comments about atmosphere/singing. I'm sure it must have something to do with where people are sitting but I always find it intresting that one person will think SMS was like a graveyard while another thinks it was rocking or away fans who say they out sung SMS for 90mins when, being sat in the chapel, they never seemed to make a sound to me.

How much have you actually studied those managers then to find this evidence that they never change anything or prepare for other teams? CB fry has it right Nigels doing a fantastic job but he is not re-inventing the wheel with what he is doing all managers make changes and try to outhink the opposition when it works they look good when it doesn't they don't. Where Nigels work seems to be really paying off is in fitness and team spirit even when things aren't going right ,like Reading, the players never give up and are always still going strong even at 90+ minutes something we haven't had since WGS.

Unless you read the boro forums where they reckon we were ok but that they didn't turn up (looking at the defending or lack of it for the third goal they may have a point) truth is probably some where in between.

This^^^ good goal but boro could hardly be bothered to make a challenge. Lambert could have stopped got out a deck chair, made himself a cup of tea, had a quick read of the paper and still had time to put in the pass to a compleatly unmarked Connolly. Boro's defending for that goal would have shamed a tyro league team TBF. As for best goal I still think that Wayne Thomas pile driver against Ipswich is the best goal for me.

Everyone was great this team are the dogs b ollocks at home almost impossible to come up with a MOTM. Boro very average. Guly has to play up front so much better there. Butters was great. Chappers is amazing don't know what they're putting in his pre-game meal but it's working. Shame Lambert didn't get on the score sheet with that effort at the end. Happy days.

Two higest scorers in the league going head to head has got to be a goalfest surely? What ever the result I bet the posh are lot more entertaining to watch than west sham on a tuesday night saints 6 -5 posh

Have always liked Butters great passer of the ball. Frazer looks more solid defensively though and has improved a lot over last season IMO. Frankly it's just nice to have a team with so many decent players for so many postions.

Well unless Fonte and Martin have both injuried themselves, I can't see why we would....

Has anyone tried taking some real nuns to sms for extra effect? with a name like st Marys it shouldn't be to hard to trick'em into coming along:p
