I have a feeling that's close to the truth......
-
LOL

I can understand people having a local non-league team for weekends when saints aren't playing or they can't do an away game (though I personally can't be fagged to go to Eastleigh) but two league sides that's a bit wierd.
-
mmmmm now that's an idea. So our royal family take over the rest of europe by a combination of diplomacy, marrige and war. We will need a few pretexts but I imagine the royal family could still lay claim to parts of France, Denmark and Germany and take it from there, Calais first?...............better still we can still be the United Kingdom of great Britian we will just be a lot bigger...

I'm not sure it's about the clubs it's more about the managers. Brighton fans have taken a strong dis-like to Nigel and lets face most of us don't think a great deal of Poyet. Being resonably local (which allows for more away fans) just adds a bit more to the match. It's not rivallry like saints/pompey or Brighton/Palace but there is a bit of neddle between the two sets of supporters which if you ask me is a good thing. The atmosphere at SMS is always better if the home and away fans are up for it.

Not sure what I am. TBH when we were in the PL I went less than I do now, due to a combo of life factors, I was quite a casual supporter I suppose. Admin chanaged all that, the thought that I might not be able to go to see saints play any more gave me a bit of a shock. So the last three season's I've become a very regular vistor to SMS and a ST holder to boot (lower prices in league 1 helped as did having a footie mad son) In hindsight I jumped on the bus early and will be able to sing "where were you when we were in league 1?" to other fans when we're back in the PL (joke)

Is NATO coming to an end?
-
So we can expect plenty of "you're only here to see the seagulls" and "we're your cup final" from the brighton fans then.... No surprise really, despite a few fans on both sides saying they're not bothered by this match, after last season you get the feeling both sets of fans want to see the other side get a stuffing. Both teams fans seem to have an extreme dislike for each others managers.

According to the O/S Guly is top of the assits chart with 8 this season.

All good stuff. Though being reliant on Rickie and Adam a weakness? I suppose it is, but isn't it one that all teams have? Every team has a couple of players that are important and would struggle without don't they?
-
Ahhh it's all cause and effect though. Everyone knows that WW1 was really caused in part by the Franco-prussian war of 1870 which of course had it's roots in German nationalism which were a cause of the Napoleonic wars which were etc etc. Cause is all well and good but it's the trigger that is the important part in this case a couple of games of football are what kicked it off (no pun)

football has caused two countries to go to war......... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Football_War

EEhhh? surely an "English" defence league should have a St Geroge not a union jack?
-
Made all the worse as everyone (well brighton fans) had been banging on about the amazing passing football they played.......
-
It's still only 1 game.......... De Ridder was shocking that night (he said so himself. I believe he called it his worst ever performance) does that mean he is also worse than bad?
-
I have a saints scarf which I take with me when it's cold other than that nothing.
-
Well if they're bringing 3000 scarfs and ballons we need to breakout the jester hats, big foam hands and face paints......
-
This^^^ We complain that we never get any coverage in the press and then complain when the press try to give us coverage....

Proof that we don't need to fill SMS to expand...

Loads of interesting comments. The main thing about the Dons expansion though is it's not about filling the stadium up with football fans but using it for other things that aren't football related plus combine it with a shopping complex. Kraken has pointed out that this probably isn't an option with us due to restrictions placed on SMS (not surprising given the location of SMS) What I was trying to get at with my orginal post (and no doubt failing) was how people would feel about this in relation to SMS and saints. Hypothetically if NC could reach a deal with the council buy up the land surrounding SMS. Maybe build a lesuire complex and hotel for example. Find (or set up) a rugby team to share SMS. Get permission for regular concert use and international sporting events and increase the sitting capacity for these things rather than football itself as MK dons have. Would people see this as a good thing? -
TBH calling him a bad player after one bad game is just as stupid as making out he is brillant just becuase he scored against MK Dons...........
-
Altogether "He's short he's hard......" Would be nice to see Barney back in the first team on match days though he's going to have a hard time getting back in the way the team are playing at the moment.

I didn't know that. It seems a shame the club can't increase the income from the stadium that sits empty most of the time. -
Martin is the captain? good lad.

Hey I'm not coming down on the debate on one side or the other, I'm firmly sat with a fence up my arse. It's a slow football week thought it might provoke some disscussion that's all. I have zero experince of building football stadia but I'm sure someone can figure out how to increase the capacity if the owners wanted to do it. Whether they should is more to the point rather than if it can be physically done. -
According to the Preston forum they've taken Sam Hoskins on loan http://www.pne-online.net/forum/showthread.php?67440-Sam-Hoskins-Signs-on-Loan-(un-confirmed)
