Thats my point it just happens there is no conscious attempt to have ago at any player it's just a sharp outake /intake of breath to realese frustration I'm not the only one and when 20K people do it it sounds loud. I'll cheer the team on appluad players on and off the pitch never booed saints in my life so I don't feel I'm lacking in the encouragment stakes.

There are alot of people in the lower end of the pay spectrum who are struggling to make ends meet in the here and now saving for 30 or 40 years time seems like a low priority when your struggling to pay the gas bill right now.
-
Booing ok. Groaning is normally invoulantry. I've done it it's not aimed at the player more the situation. When a pass that you think will put someone through on goal doesn't come off it's just an automatic thing I find. Of course when 25,000 people do it it and the same time it's quite audible....

Maybe he's been tapped up and we've told him he can't go to Barca until the summer...... ...or maybe he was just having a bad day (bust up with the misses, big bill for the flashy sports car, etc) like we all do...

Playing Arsenal in a cup final only 10 days after they'd thumped us 6-1 .......

Our oponents in the prior round of the league cup

Perfect draw too against cardiff at least one champ side will be in the final wasn't to bothered when we went out but a bit jealous now would love to be in another cup final. In the end you've got to say well done to any team that knock out man U on their home turf. -
Actually it was quite frustrating watching Lambert win a lot of ball in the air (something he doesn't always do againt big CB if i'm honest) yet none of the saints players around him seemed to be picking up the second ball. so he's headers and flicks on end up going to no one.
-
And where are we going to find this second rickie (one whose happy to bench warm until he is needed)? If Lambert gets injuried we are better off coming up with a system that plays to the strengths of the players we already have than try to replace rickie with a sub standard copy IMO.
-
God it's like your just waiting for Rickie to get injuried..................
-
On the other hand maybe he is better off here learning to play the Southampton way under the guidence of Nigel (and Jos and Fonte) rather than going to some lower league club were hoof ball clearances become the norm for him............

Great News!! Half season tickets are back in town!!
doddisalegend replied to 1976_Child's topic in The Saints
Didn't see that coming........................ good news for those who want to jump on the band wagon (joke) -
bet the same nob was jumping up down singing "who R ya" when Guly scored though.....
-
By which time depending on how the season pans out he might not even be in our plans anymore....

They were all saints players?..................

Anyone else not that bothered about West Ham?
doddisalegend replied to Lighthouse's topic in The Saints
Actually I'd like saints to win stuff, I hated coming second last season. The point of football is to win stuff like cups and league titles. Considering that if we do go up we've haven't a cat in hells chance of winning anything ( we will ditch the cups with second string teams becuase PL status is more important) I 'd like us to try and go up as champions who knows when we will be in this postion again? -
Based on the fact the Pulis couldn't even get a place on the bench under three(?) different managers that's a fair assumption. Lee has been out injuried and is a least getting on the bench which suggests NA (and AP before him) felt he added to the squad something Pulis couldn't convince any manager of.

Much the same as all those goals the oppsition teams have "gifted us" I assume...

It seems to me the mood at SMS is changing with expectations. Last night was really flat for long periods and the crowd appeared to be more nervous than earlier in the season the closer we get to looking like we might get promoted the worse it will become.
-
Well after playing less than one half of football this season it would seem quite a few people think Barney isn't up to the championship. I suppose not scoring a couple of hattricks in three sub apperances would suggest that Lee is in fact crap..... Just out of interest is he "not up to it" in the same way as Lambert and Hammond weren't up to it in the summer or is he "not up to it" in a different way? It may well be the case that Lee "isn't up to it" but shouldn't we let him get a decent run of games first before writing him off?
-
LOL yeah would that be the same Martin we gave kevin Davis a hard time last season? I take you haven't watched much tyro league in a while? I don't think Araon has disgraced himself any time he's been called upon to represent the club.
-
???? no he wasn't. HTBH and say Lambert has come in for loads of stick over the last few seasons too people were calling for him to be dropped early last season.
-
Guly is Marmite..............I like Marmite
-
Barney has hardly played this season so people writing him off as not good enough seems harsh, let him get a run of starts and then decided if he is crap shall we? He works best along side Lambert which didn't happen last night. playing with Guly didn't work last night as they just kept getting in each others way and Kelvin banging it long and expecting Barnard to win it in the air is pretty pointless he was playing with his back to goal most of the time rather than being able to run the channels. His first touch wasn't great last night but then you could level that charge against most of the team last night other than Morgan.

Whats happened to Lambert's free kicks?
doddisalegend replied to doddisalegend's topic in The Saints
Well Rickie must have felt he had a chance or he wouldn't have tried it. It's not really just about tonights free kick though his free kicks have been going down hill for the last two seasons that first season in league one he seemed to bang free kicks in from all over the place. -
First season Lambert was here it seemed that a free kick anywhere near the opposition area was pretty much an odds on goal ... his free kicks were a joy to watch. Tonight watching him smash another one straight into the wall I can't even remember the last time I've seen him put a free kick away. Now don't get me wrong Lambert is a hell of a player but I can't help wondering why his free kicks don't seem to work on a regular basis anymore.... Maybe it's time to let somebody else have ago not sure who though.
