  1. I think that sums it up for me
  2. cocked that up I'll try again below
  3. Thats not Phil's question though, he said If we don't get promotion. Whether we will or not is open to debate but that wasn't the question asked.
  4. Pretty well by all accounts but then he was playing CM rather than being forced into doing a job at RB.
  5. If we don't go up? We will lose some of our better players, rebuild over the summer and try again next season. Possibly with a new manager. Expectations from the fan base will probably be a lot lower and NCs talk of champions league will look a bit silly. We can look forward to playing two teams from sheffield next season and games against the Irons. We can also look forward to many many months of abuse from bompey, pompey and brighton (all playing championship football) fans about being the smallest club on the south coast before they forget all about us saying that we are too small to be noticed by massive clubs like thiers.
  6. Early goal is vital, if we get ahead the players relax and normally start to play good football. The longer it stays at 0-0 (or god forbid Yeovil go in front) the more our players try to force it with long punts up field hoping to find Lambert. Yeovil won't bend over while we shaft them. All our matches against them this season and last have been scrapy hard fought affairs even more so if they have Wotton playing in front of the back four. Scrappy 1-0 to us, unless we score in the first 10mins in which case the game will open up and we might score 3.
  7. Kelvin said as much in the last match day programme.
  8. You're right we should only discuss things on these boards we have control over as fans like ehhh.... ummm.......... pretty much nothing really.................
  9. One word 'Expectation' a lot of people expect us to perform to a very high standard in this league given all our resources. I've said it before being 5th in this league this season just doesn't seem to be a great achievement really, in a higher league in previous seasons I'd be as happy as Larry, this season not so much. I thought (and I don't think I'm the only one) we would be doing what Brighton have been doing this season not spending most of the season trying to catch the likes of Bournemouth up.
  10. and Butterfield, Lallana (I know but still), Chaplow and Harding were all mentioned. I'll agree Jaidi was the worse offender which is why he came off I assume. The point still stands I've been to plenty of matches this season were our passing has been poor, we give away the ball very cheaply at times.
  11. I have to say Dave Merrington pretty much agreed with Dr Who's analysis of the game, Sloppy passing from saints putting us under pressure from a 10 man team. Sloppy passing has been a feature of our play all season. Can't really see how you can call DR whos opinion rubbish as it is just as valid as yours.
  12. Good 3pts, not that we can afford anything but 3pts every game the way all the teams round us are playing. We sounded very poor first 25 minutes, but the goal against the run of play and the sending off changed the game. Lallana sounded like he had a bit of an off day today (well marked or just a bit slack with his passing?) Jaidi sounded like a liability today, the guy is a rock in defence but his passing is so poor at times. Sounds like Martin really made the defence more solid when he came on. A bit worried that our midfield seemed to get given the run around by Lloyd James.......... Just wish some of the teams around us would f uck up bit.
  13. Always important to create lots of near misses....................
  14. Who cares what other fans think?
  15. Nobody can really judge his playing ability on twenty minutes. More worrying is that his injuried after only twenty miniutes, we've had more than our far share of sicknotes that promise much and then spend most of their time in the treatment room lets hope Forte isn't going to be another one of them.
  16. Or he knew his cards were marked when Reed turnned up and started looking for options in case he found a P45 coming his way. We will most likely never know. Which is why these sort of threads will carry on. Quite often when a manager is sacked the fanbase are all (90%) in agreement the manager had to go. That wasn't the case with Pardew yes some wanted him out, but I think most weren't unhappy with him So there is a sense of unfinished bussiness with AP among elements of the fan base as there is with WGS and to a lesser extent Pearson.
  17. Making it different to all the other posts on here how?
  18. That was the bloke. I just remeber a rather atagonistic thread on here where he was trying to defend the echo (which is sure fire hiding to nothing around here) and then it became common knowledge who he was and got a bit of a verbal kicking.
  19. I'm sure one of the posters on here was a jurno for the echo Dan somebody a rather, he used to do some quite funny little pieces in the Pink. You could tell from those pieces he was a poster on here from some of things he said. Then somebody outed him (Stu romesy saint I think) I'm not sure if he still posts now.
  20. True on the other hand you have to speculate to accumulate, If we really felt a player (or two) was worth having it might have been worth a bit extra to get them in and help get promotion. It's a fine line. I wouldn't us to go back to how we used to be average players for too much money on long contracts. On the other hand missing out on say CMS from Peterbrough becuase we refused to pay say another 100,000 would seem like false economy. Who'd be a football chairman?
  21. More about the fans being more nervous than the players about promotion, you can't expect the team to win 6-0 evey week, sometimes you have to grind out the win, we're still in the mix. Oh and some bloke going by the handle of trousers really gets on his tits........
  22. Actually if you read the captain's piece by Kelvin in the Swindon match day programme, you could imagine he had been reading this message board......................
  23. TBH I don't think there is much to choose between Alan and Nigel. Both were/are capable of getting the the team to play some great football and pull of some great wins. However both seemed to be able to put out teams that gave/give terrible performances as well being coupled with odd subs and inability to change things at times. I would say Nigel has had it easier and of course Alan won a trophy (I know JPT blah blah don't care it's still a trophy). For what it's worth I think we would be higher up with AP in charge becuase I don't think he would have dropped as many points as Wilkins did in the change over period and I think AP was more than capable of doing as well as Nigel has done with this team. I can't prove any of that but there you go. Finally I think a lot of people just didn't like APs personaility were as Nigel is more likeable so people cut him more slack than they did AP.
  24. I don't think it would help the players to take much notice of the things that get written on here. Depending of which thread and which poster they were reading they might think they were the best player since Pele or the worst player to ever wear a saints shirt or probably both at the same time.
  25. A few on here have been saying similair things for a while and getting shot down for it. Have you got something concrete or is it just a friend of a friend konws the guy who cleans the toilets at SMS type of thing?
