All true shouldn't be an excuse though football pitches are quite an important part of the game. Clubs should be required to keep them to a basic standard they really should have grass on them be playable after some rain and not have big holes in them. Just IMO.

QUOTE=Saint Garrett;977156]Bournemouth played away today ! yes they did. D&Rs pitch is a ploughed turnip field then. I think the point still holds though some of the pitches in this league are a disgrace.
-
Yes how did this thread turn into the usual Happy clappy/wrist slasher fest we won 4-1 and as usual people are more worried about sticking it to people who have a different opinon from them than having a grown up disscussion about the match (both the good and bad bits) I agree with you after the first goal we lost our way a bit. Last 20mins though we played some outstanding football.
-
More worrying was the state of bompey's ploughed turnip patch the ball was holding up and sticking all over the place it looked barely playable (although not as bad as Notts county's mud patch) I can't see our lot enjoying playing on that. Not that it's an excuse but you can see why it must be a bit of a shock to the saints players when they have to play on some other teams pitches after the dream pitch that SMS has.

well it's 12.26am nobody is there (except you?) I imagine it would be quite................
-
After we scored the first we didn't look very in control IMO passes started to go astray and we looked well on the back foot to me. The crowd at SMS could sense it too you the atmosphere became quite negative. After we scored the two quick set pieces then we looked very in control and it was all one way.

Not today he was poor (and I say that as big fan of chaplow) the game just seemed to pass him by for long long periods. Morgan coming on (with barney) changed the whole game Morgan was fantastic.
-
Might have sounded like it but we didn't, first 15min they couldn't cope with us we scored and then we just took our foot of the gas. Either side of half time we were awful after our 2nd -3rd goals it was champange stuff from saints. To day really showed the best and worst of saints in one match, in two spellls we looked unplayable in the other we could barely put to passes together. Still we won with some good goals. Nigel got his subs spot on today. All in all a good day at the office.

ummm no he's not Nick is the forums eternal optimist he is the ying to the the wrist slashers yang.

or pretty bad...........if we lose which is always a possiblity seeing as we don't have a divine right to beat anyone, money makes no difference in this league, teams don't just roll over and die becuase they're playing saints, we're everybody elses cup final so they always play better against us etc etc Luckily we have games in hand which we will of course win despite the fact we're putting in some bad performances at the moment, never mind all the teams around us are bound to slip up soon................
-
Either way. If NC wants him out I want it done straight away and a new manager brought in before pre-season starts. If NC wants him to stay I want him to back Nigel to the hilt the following season. What I don't want is the circus that the start of this season turnned into, the points dropped by Wilkins would be really handy right now.
-
Getting us out of this league is only the start of Nigels job this is supposed to be the easy bit. My point wasn't really about how we're doing right now it's about comparing what Nigel achieved at scunny and what he is expected to achieve here. I'm 100% sure Nigel has will get far more pressure on him from our chairman to get results than he ever did at scunny who were already punching way above their wieght. Can Nigel handle it? who knows. One things for sure banging on about his record at scunny really has no bearing on how he is doing here.

Pardew lost one league game from three I somehow don't think that was the end of our season, Wilkins was a disaster but even so we should have done better since then it seems everytime we've had a chance to captalize on poor results by those around us we choose to put in another dire performance instead. If wanting saints to win the league is whinging then I'm happy to be a whinger. Honestly if we want to go were NC wants us to go then saints (fans, team manager everyone) has got to stop thinking that coming second is ok. This is a new era we're probaly better off now than we have been in living memeroy with regards to resources, money and infrastructure and yet people are happy with second and mediocre I suppose old habits die hard. -
It's been said before but I don't think you can compare S****horpe with saints the expectations are much much higher at Saints. No one can deny Nigel did well at S****horpe in fact he probably took them as far as they could expect to go, he will be expected to take us much further however. We are not a small club with little budget, 5000 gates and a chairman thats thinks mid table champoinship is a great achivement. Nigels going to have to do better than he has done in his whole time as a manager under a lot more pressure than he ever had at S****horpe.

The thing is at the start of the season for the first time I really felt saints had a chance to win a league not come second, not go up via the play offs WIN it. There shouldn't have been any excuses this season call it arrogance if you like but we are the biggest club in this league we should be winning it yet all around are supporters who seem to think being second best is great it makes me sad. This year I had really high expectations (my own fault -I should have known better) and right now I feel let down, coming second won't feel great to me it will feel like a faliure. -

2nd place b ollocks I wanted to win this f ucking league coming second to Brighton is f ucking embarrasing. I really can't believe how many people seem to be happy being fifth in this league below such massive clubs as Bournemouth, Peterbrough and Brighton. With the resources we've got and the players we've got we should be tearing this league a new one not being happy to scrape in second (if we even manage that). Poor result s hit night Good night. -
Stockport is the sort of place that right now I'd rather we didn't loan are upcoming players too. I really can't imagine it's going to do a lot for Ryan playing in the atmosphere of a broke, relegation from league 2 nailed on club. I suppose it might toughen him up but it could screw up his confidence before he even gets going. With our track record with loans I'm suprised he didn't end up playing PL.

Martin's two best games for us this season (out of the few he's played) are IMO Bolton and Blackpool which says to me he is one for the future if not right now. One thing I like about him is despite his age and lack of experince he is very vocal and knows what he is about, doesn't think twice about giving Fonte orders. He looks like possible captain material to me in the future. Having said that Nigel must have other ideas and you've got to trust that the manager knows his team well enough to put out the strongest back four in every match.

WTF some kid on loan just out of nappies. If Nigel has any intention of replacing Kelvin, Bart would have been a regular in goal for some time. Seeing as Kelvin is still getting picked on a regular basis I think it's fair to say that Nigel still rates Kelvin. We need cover for an injuried Bart, Forecast ain't upto it so this kid is coming for a month. Replacement for Davis ..........

Let's just hope we don't have to go through the playoffs...

Surely when we get back to the Prem that will be normal price for a ticket they're just getting us used to it.
