  1. there is no way UEFA are going to take the loss of the CL lying down its a huge brand and money maker for them.
  2. blimey Watford must be having a mare. We are ****e but Newcastle looked several degrees worse than us this season....
  3. According to the article above the clubs in it will own the league (unlike the PL) so once they've decided who's in it they will stay in it for at least 20 years. Financially it wouldn't benefit anyone but the clubs in it as the whole super league will be run by them for the benefit of them. There is no doubt it would cause pain to a lot of English teams financially as the fallout from losing PL cash kicked in. After a few seasons the league would probably be a lot more balanced. Plus clubs having to relay on local fans for revenue instead of TV would probably benefit match going fans in the long run when we become more important to clubs than a load of fans in SE Asia.
  4. yes basically a closed shop owned by the clubs that play in the league.
  5. Do they think their owners give a **** about local fans? I'm sure they would rather fill Anfield up with big spending, half and half scarf wearing, neutral day trippers, come to watch some franchised European super league game against Barca than a bunch of locals.
  6. Well I assume it would signal the collapse of the PL so yeah stadium size and matchday revenue will become a big factor again still the gap in finances would be less than it is now especially without CL money further complicating matters.
  7. More here (sadly spurs don't seem to have been invited ) https://www.msn.com/en-gb/sport/football/five-english-clubs-named-in-‘super-league-plan’-for-2021/ar-BBPhbZZ?ocid=spartandhp The German magazine – as part of the latest Football Leaks revelations – claims Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United and Manchester City are among the clubs who have been in negotiations about a new competition to replace the Champions League in three years’ time. A draft of a “binding term sheet” sent on 22 October 2018 by the firm Key Capital Partners to Real Madrid’s president, Florentino Pérez, appears to show the English clubs would be joined by Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain and Milan as founding members with a further five clubs – Atlético Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, Marseille, Internazionale and Roma – appearing as “initial guests”. According to Der Spiegel, the 11 founding teams could not be relegated and would be part of the league for the first 20 years. The date by which the 16 clubs are to sign the “binding term sheet” is listed as November 2018. he 11 founding clubs, according to the document, would register a company in Spain to market, organise and execute the European Super League under its full control. The competition would have a group stage and a knockout round. There is also a suggestion that a second league under the European Super League could be created. So the biggest clubs in Europe would play in a league they own yeah I bet UFEA are happy as they watch their cash cow disappear over the horizon
  8. well if that's what passes for the better team we must be one of the best teams in the PL....
  9. He looks quite good tbf wonder if we will ever see him in the 1st team?
  10. 0-0 at half time saints have more of the ball but have barely threatened WBA goal...
  11. indirect free kick in the box ...don't see to many of them
  12. Live on youtube
  13. Exactly right sadly. Really with an owner the fans want someone who connects with the club, an owner who gives the impression he gives a **** about our club. I'd struggle to pick our owner out of a police line up.
  14. Did he play in last seasons game up at City?
  15. People do have a tendency to assume all the other teams in a relegation battle will get better and we won't. A bit like the assumption changing manager will make a difference last season all three relegated sides changed manager (West Brom twice) didn't help them one bit. There is no denying this is shaping up to be another absolute ****e season but there are plenty of awful teams in the PL this season. Even as ****e as we are we have every chance of staying up so we can rinse and repeat next season ad infinitum.....
  16. To be fair in the current situation they could probably play an entire second string side and still have the better team than our best first 11.
  17. I'm trying to imagine our fan base trying to process that result if it came to pass...
  18. His record at Sunderland has no bearing on whether he is one of the worst saints PL goal keepers though which was the original discussion.
  19. He is a very good player, playing in the biggest team in that league, in a lower quality of league so not the greatest of surprises tbf.
  20. The guy who complied the list basically admitted clubs aren't forthcoming about wages and he has had to use out of date info. So probably nonsense. There is stuff all over the net on PL club and player wages and you can rarely find two sites that can agree. Stuff like this can be interesting but you have to take it all with a massive pinch of salt.
  21. It would make a difference for a couple of game before the rest of the squad rubbed off on him (oh err) and then he'd become crap...
  22. except the author the table admits he has had to guess most of it...
  23. Just found this from the guy who compiled the list "Many clubs use a legal loophole to avoid showing wages, but these are the figures that I have to hand" In other words sound like quite a bit of guess work on his part...
  24. Is that list current? Swansea really have a bigger wage bill than West Ham? Seems rather unlikely with Swansea being in the championship. I'd be pretty surprised if ours and Newcastle's (?) wage bill was bigger than Everton and West Hams as well ?
  25. That's the thing isn't it people keep looking for a quick fix. Sack Les, sack Hughes, buy a striker as if anyone of these things in isolation will change the situation. In reality there is is a host of issues contributing to our current plight.
