Not to many players pushing for a recall to the league 11, that played against Leicester, after last nights performance. On last nights cameo I wouldn't be adverse to playing Gallagher instead of Long. Other than that Yoshida for Hoedt.
-
Sam Gallagher looked useful and not at all out of his depth and Austin scores goals with the right service....

Listening to Solent sounds dire so far. Sounds like lots of square pegs in round holes. Despite five new signings and a different manager we really don't seem to be any better than last season. Uninspiring in attack, light weight in midfield, and mistake ridden at the back.
-
I'm not so sure about that the one thing about saints, since we returned to the PL, is we have consistently been one of the biggest crossers of the ball in the league. Normally being in the top two for crosses every season. It has been our main attacking outlet every season regardless of manager. That's what makes our recent recruitment of attackers so ****ing frustrating we've bought a whole bunch of attacking players that don't work well with the way we constantly attack teams.

been like that for several seasons now its fine when you've got Lambert (or to a less extent Pelle) leading the line but we haven't had a player like that for ages yet we still play kike we do. I'd much rather the full backs got to the byline and put in low cut backs to feet.

Said in the summer we needed to sign competition for Cedric a lot of people didn't agree.
-
In that case he is a massive bellend. From my view in that passage of play Austin was fouled, Long was fouled and then Hoj looked to have been fouled before going down so I was spitting bullets at the ref. The annoying thing was we had weathered Leicester's response to scoring and where starting to get some momentum back the sending off just killed us.
-
So did Hoedt actually dive from my view in the Itchen North it looked a stonewall pen everyone around me was shouting pen only to watch him get a second yellow and be made to walk.
-
Disagree If we have 11 on the pitch Maguire doesn't have the option to push up like he did and get into a goal scoring position if we have two up top.
-
Is Gabbi on the bench?

Better performance than the last two games so far. We are the better side Leicester looking dangerous on the counter. Been an entertaining watch despite not many clear cut chances from either side. Redmond the stand out player but everyone is having a decent game even Hoedt ?.

Wesley Hoedt embracing the challenge of replacing Virgil van Dijk at Southampton https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2018/08/24/wesley-hoedt-embracing-challenge-replacingvirgil-van-dijk-southampton/

The biggest problem we have had the last two games is controlling the middle of the park. Its pretty hard to take the game to them when you cant get hold of the ball and keep hold of it for a bit that midfield would get overrun.
-
Of course set pieces aren't irrelevant if you take the majority of free kicks and corners ( not to mention the odd penalty) it increases your chances of getting goals and assists over a player who never takes any.
-
True but JWP only managed 4 goals in 43 games that season and he got to take most of the set pieces when he was on the pitch...
-
He was poor last season but then who wasn't? In his first season under Puel he contributed 7 league goals and a 1 in the cup which isn't to shabby imo ( especially given the general low scoring records of our players in recent seasons). Last season dented his confidence a lot I reckon but if Hughes can get up back up to the level Puel did and contributing around 8 goals this season he be a useful part if the squad.

Just seen on the O/s Southampton Pride is in Saturday commencing an hour before kick off so it could interfere with your travel plans. I guess Southampton is going to be really busy on match day. https://southamptonfc.com/news/2018-08-23/southampton-pride-2018-lead-sporting-partner

Nice gesture by the club to support Scope for Saturdays game http://www.skysports.com/football/news/11700/11479802/southampton-to-promote-charity-scope-as-part-of-shirt-sponsorship-swap

Lol Yoshida with no legs would be better than Hoedt..
-
I think we are safe on that score. In his current form Lemina would be lucky to get a move to Forest Green Rovers....
-
I see baby Lemina has finally dropped I'm hoping it spurs Lemina on to score a screamer followed by cringe worthy team "baby" goal celebration.

Apparently they did a deal with 7 PL clubs https://m.investing.com/news/cryptocurrency-news/seven-premier-league-football-clubs-sign-bitcoin-advertising-deal-with-etoro-1584088

Why would it be? I seriously don't see Hughes as the sort of bloke who would be happy to be told who has to play. I think it is far more simple in that Hughes rates Hoedt more than the fans.
-
That's what the majority of the fan base would go with but Hughes seems to like Hoedt for some reason.

Bit drastic have you got a good lawyer..
