'Familiarity' is never a god thing when you have dissatisfied with the previous familiar.... I would want to know how much influence Black actually had last year because if he had any at all he should be gone too. It can only be disruptive to have previous ideas and doctrine hanging around from last year. The fact that the players allegedly like him is also not an advantage in any way. Let the new manager bring his own management style unhindered by past incumbencies. Bad idea IMO

Jan Bednarek signed from Lech Poznań on 5 Year Deal

Oh dear oh dear -
Standing is gone for ever I hope... People cannot be trusted to behave.

I doubt we paid very much at all in compensation actually. If Puel made too high a demand for compensation he clearly would be tied to us preventing him going for other employment.
-
Agree. After seeing as a pundit lately he is fairly inept. He only talks about Utd players all the time and has little concept of tactics or awareness in a given game.

Players a bit worried with where the club are heading !?

Ball hit totally - a weak thread ... -
Well I think quite a few have been bought on loaned money.... I just thought of a very good example errrrrr ....... Coventry!!! ?
-
Most clubs are bought on debt.... Man U were totally bought on debt, I think Arsenal were and a host of other clubs. Even we were lent the money - it wasn't a gift....
-
Then they will have to adapt or watch others that can adapt ...

At last some back bone! Credit where it's due ....

Burnley were totally abysmall at our place this year...

Why does the club fall apart every summer ?
captainchris replied to alpine_saint's topic in The Saints
Not that it matters but ..... I can't think of one club that has the chaos and turmoil we have had for last few consecutive summers or even one summer even? That is the perspective you need to consider. Nobody loses players like we do continuously every summer. We contrive to engineer a total lack of control over the exodus every year... -
Why does the club fall apart every summer ?
captainchris replied to alpine_saint's topic in The Saints
If you read his post he was talking about all the recent summers, however so far this one is exactly the same so far - is it not ? Lack of control, mass speculation regarding exits which in previous experience always come to fruition by the way and buggers muddle until the start of the season in prospect again where we will scrabble around at very last minute to find a new manager and players to fill the voids caused by a lack of management of the out of season period. In short chaos.... -
Puel Sacked? - As Reported by Crook of Sh*t
captainchris replied to Ivan Katalinic's 'tache's topic in The Saints
Well put .... -
Sorry but every summer is a complete and utter car crash. This summer our best player is talking to everyone but you and probably so is our international full back and to cap it all our Manager is splashed all over the press as maybe sacked but maybe not.... Every year it's the same. Things happen around you and you are evidently not in control of situations. Why is that Les? Why are you a victim ? Why do our best players and Managers not want to stay ? Why is there an accelerating uncontrolled mess every summer in your department? You are not progressing the club, you are not leading well and with organised authority. We have a good infrastructure which you do not enhance but Flaff around and looking important doing very little far too late every year. It's tiresome now.... Maybe you should leave !

I beg to differ. The 'product' is results and entertainment not the players. Players are assets with which you need in order to produce the product.... The business model if you are a share holder is to buy and sell assets and make money. As fans we pay money for results and entertainment. Our model is not concerned with the way our team make money but how they perform.
-
Thanks for that 'valuation' Les !
-
There are very few 'businesses' that have a model of letting their best people leave every year! That is not a 'business model' That is a plan to fail or at best stand still which always equals eventual decline..... It's no use being conceited about the partial luck we have enjoyed this year. This is not a sustainable low risk business strategy, apart from the fact that that this is a results driven business. It is amazing how many business 'experts' there are in here who like to uligise about the club as a business and how successful it is as a business. Us fans are not ruddy directors or share holders, we are fans who have different aspirations beginning and ending with success and that is our role - not profit and loss!
-
Selling at all is stupid but the continual underselling of our players is now leaving me wondering why and at who's instigation, if you get my drift....... Plus even more intriguingly to the same club!!!!!!!!! If Redcrap was still here we would all be shouting brown envelope ..... Conspiracy or just coincidence but it seems Liverpool never have to call back... we are selling something which is highly desirable so the price should be higher than the underlying value which in today's climate has to be £70m plus.... Just odd that this is a continuing theme.... Football is very dodgy these days - in my opinion.. :-) it's almost farcical and becoming so remote. Glad I don't subscribe to Sky and BT nor will I - its wrecking the game....
-
No.... Not the case at all.... If we pay him off he can't get another job until his old contract runs out - if we choose. Puel will not want that at all, he wants to work so is quickly looking for a new job! We should not wait long though as uncertainty is very bad for direction and a clear message to the players. Unfortunately Les has a terrible habit of letting events overtake him and ending up in a right mess! If Les lets this drag on and and trips up again he should go too. Les is the captain of this ship and its decision time right now... Has he learnt his lessons or will Puel finally leave the last week in July followed by a group of our best players again ? This year Les you need to make things happen not watch them happen...
-
Precisely! He even says Watson is a brilliant goalkeeping coach which doesn't I still much confidence either!
-
Hardly drama queen!
-
Sorry but Puel has to take some of the blame for the ridiculous perceverance with Tadic on pens....
