On the face of it he wasn't trying to make money for himself, however we don't know that. Why did he attend this meeting then ? What was his motif for the meeting? Why would he offer such advice? Why also did he allegedly offer specific names and clubs, wouldn't that be slightly odd to a total stranger? Is this behaviour associated with someone who disassociates himself completely with such dealings? 'On the face of it' is one thing...... His position is now very tarnished in my view. He should not have attended such a meeting.

Wait a minute, we are employing an assistant manager who lives 140 miles away....... Wtf is that about????? If the bloke cannot be arsed to move here and commit to the job then he should not be here anyway..... I find this type of strategy in employing an important manager baffling.... I think Puel will mainly go with the team of the European game with a maybe a youngster in the melting pot. We need to give game time to the squad members who need to get match fit and stay sharp. For the record Puel seems to understand the squad needs to play to a system that everyone works to. We are not blessed with lots of magnificent players and so the system is key. Fair play to Puel, he is working well with what he has.....

An excellent post Marmite. You have what many are thinking. We cancelled Sky Sports last week. The premier league has a non stop commercial promotion for the top six. That's the usual top six! Sky and Talk Sport can talk about nothing else. The money in the game is obscene and no footballer is worth the money they are paid. Added to which they will all change alegence for yet more money... In addition however we seem to be surrendering big style to big boys and decided not to try and compete at all..... So generally yes would rather play my own sport and have definately dropped to a four out of ten on enthusiasm this year. That is both for being glued to news about Saints and Premier League football.... Have to say I didn't realise so many people were feeling the same way, that is fascinating ....

You might have happily accepted them but don't include us all in that. The Chinese thing might have legs and I hope it does. I don't think the present owners have the enthusiasm to push on. It doesn't take a genius to work that out either so let's embrace the idea of an owner with more money and more ambition which at this stage is really what we now need. I would say thanks to the family but realistically I think they have had enough and are beginning to tread water which in time can only lead one way. I can't see them risking a sudden collapse in fortunes and thereby value of the club. Their work is done, football like the world is moving at a rapid pace, you need a lot of bottle to play at this table and the Chinese are used to raising the stakes.....

The players he had been left with you can hardly say it's entirely down him even if we are bottom in 10 games time.... Let's face it it is a poison Chalis this year and fair play to him for taking it on... Can barely be arssed to tune into it at all and even less offer critism of the Manager when the Directors have so completely managed to succeed in steadily dismantling a very good team. Hats off to them for some incredibly bad business management. Sell your best assets even in Monopoly and you won't win with Whitechapel and Old Kent Road! In football you need assets not cash. Look chum. You don't have a monopoly in supporting Saints all your life !!! 99% of those going through the turnstiles have done.... Having an opinion is not 'slagging off' it's caring and wanting the best for the team. You obviously couldn't care less if sell all our prized players and end up going backwards - that's up to you but stop the ambitious amongst us craving to beat the the big teams like Leicester. So crawl back in your hole, bury your head in the sand accept what ever befalls you and the winners amongst us strive for medals. As we too have done for a life time!

Well summed up. The silence is deafening, the complacency is dreadfully naive. Actually this has all the hallmarks of a company for sale, driving up profit whilst sweating the assets..... Otherwise why would we be 'free wheeling' It's not making sense considering the heights we reached last season and the potential to grow further....

We don't agree on a lot but this is very true. We sell before we have replacements lined up which is just plain bad management... Have to say we are patently well short of a team now and it's time for action....

Why do people join forums if they don't respect the fact there will be opposing and different opinions there. Stick to opinions and comment about the subject of the thread and please stop trolling individuals because they have the temerity to have an opinion different to yours.

He is under contract for another two years that is the end of the story. If he had a poor Euros and poor early form for us would he have taken a pay cut? No, thought not! The thing is though the board insist on encouraging the big clubs in by not making an assertive statement stating he is going nowhere. This is unsettling and yet again we handle this episode in an amateur fashion...
