Liverpool 0-0 Saints - Match & Reactions Thread
captainchris replied to Heisenberg's topic in The Saints
What exactly have Boufal and Tadic let alone Forster done to warrant inclusion today? Puel making a rod for his own back if we horribly mess up today... -
Basically anyone ...... he's patently a bit short to be honest ......
-
I am sorry Puel but bottom half is not acceptable so step up to the mark or move on.... Either you are good enough or not and I fear not. Push sentimentality to one side - good enough or not !

Interesting points. The expansion issue is an important one. I only come along casually. I don't want a season ticket as would miss too many games. The important thing here though is games are often sold out or close to it so when I could go I don't because I probably won't get a ticket .... If people knew they could get in more would turn up and more would take the trouble to bother to try and buy tickets.... Of course if you expand the ground you have less to spend on players so the standard drops and less people go to watch... Then you don't need the space... You need a damn good manager to mitigate the the decrease in investment on the pitch - not too sure Wenger's best mate is quite up to it....... Stick or twist ????

How does 'getting rid' with no replacement equal backing Puel - What difference exactly does no replacement make... How can a club back a manager who has lost the dressing room and the fans ? We are risking a massive player exit again and really would be ridiculous mismanagement by Les to let that happen again ....

Telegraph article saying puel may be on borrowed time
captainchris replied to Mr X's topic in The Saints
This is entirely true. If the Puel regime and I includ Black and the goalkeeper coach in this are this much of a mess with the players then the only time to act is right now. Let it fester and we lose time and the players we want to keep. In these situations we continually drag our feet by which time players are negotiating with other clubs and already made their mind up to leave! This is the point where we always say we couldn't keep them, all because we are too slow to act..... If he has lost the dressing room he won't get it back so there is absolutely no point in dallying around. Letting a Tadic take a pen was the last straw for me, I expect he was trying to keep in with him which only points more to a deteriating management position. Don't wait Les - for once take the big decisions early, another summer of player upheaval would be a travesty of incompetence.. -
Well played Andy, totally agree but Puel is not a sophisticated enough coach to deploy such a good idea...... Agree with many on here that he just doesn't see what is happening in games.
-
To be honest - Puel, if that is the best you can do just go....
-
Sorry what are you talking about??? You have a guy with a proven record of not being able to take a pen and your logic based on no evidence is we have no one better!!!! For God's sake mate ... So let's continue with Tadic shall we!!! Really - is your name Puel by any chance?
-
Last straw for Puel. It doesn't take a person with any IQ at all to work out that Tadic cannot take pens!!!!!! No excuse for him being the pen taker at all. If Puel can't work that out then get lost mate...
-
Oh please, he was awful.....
-
Errrrr that is comment is well off the mark.... People have rightly been asking questions of Dave Watson all season...
-
Well Pain has to be up there but Ron Davies was awesome as were several others already mentioned... Personally thought Dave Armstrong was very underrated also ....
-
Most definitely true..... problem is he doesn't have a 15m label on him so is obviously not good enough!
-
Oh be quiet you sanctimonious silly boy!

Luke Shaw's stalled development. What does it say about our academy?
captainchris replied to Colinjb's topic in The Saints
Yes true, however if 'constructive' has been tried with no response and you would expect it has been then the stick has to be resorted to in the end. -
Luke Shaw's stalled development. What does it say about our academy?
captainchris replied to Colinjb's topic in The Saints
No..... not true.... I pay you big money you perform or else..... Fair is fair..... You come the biggest club in the country you better expect to be good enough or accept critism.... -
Luke Shaw's stalled development. What does it say about our academy?
captainchris replied to Colinjb's topic in The Saints
Unfortunate a 'massive step up from Danny Fox' is not a compliment.... Danny Fox is without a shadow of a doubt the worse left back we have had in the post 60s era. Shaw was only 17 so he is expected to make a few mistakes, however he was obviously very competent and destined to be a fine player. Moving to Man U the expectations are enormous and being wanted by them would turn some players heads - did it turn Shaw's ? Maybe it did and now being a mature player he is given no quarter and has to produce form and quality to play which is sometimes the difference between at team like us the top six which brings me back to Danny Fox in a convenient way..... A player who mistakenly thought he was good and was actually very poor but somehow got into our team.... -
Why only 50m ? We always undervalue our assets ..... If Pogba is worth 90 odd million and he is crap why only 50m? Plenty of teams want him so get them to pay really highly for him.. Agree about his positioning which is quite often suspect. Don't tell the Barcelonas of this world though..
-
Because we would be over run in midfield end of.....
-
I did say exactly that a few months back... we are often exposed at the back with our 'wing backs' very advanced... Three at the back would cover this risk .. Also with Davis starting to flag it would load the midfield more and enable a more expansive attacking threat which is lacking without Gabbi...
-
Apart from the obvious point here that FF has been very poor for quite a long time now you have to say the goalkeeping coach should be sacked going on what evidence we have for all the technical reasons raised above which are simply not addressed in any way. I would guess the goalkeeping coach is a total waste of space.

He's got his move to a top eight club who are 'living in the past' according to their best player, who should know! It was a very strange move and made bacause no big clubs wanted him..... He has made his bed and it hasn't done him any favours when big clubs look at him now.... I expect him get a bigger club at some point but not to succeed. I really cannot see one of the big four or five taking a punt on him here..... Koeman would have failed miserably here this season and he knew it which is why he ran off to the first bolt hole he could find lording them as a 'big club' yeah right ok, what ever you say .....
-
Sell him at exactly the right time - pure genius. How Wet Spam couldn't see he is now crap is beyond me..... usual Hammers trick buying spent players for over the odds.... Strange strategy...
-
Without wishing to drone on too much about this but..... FF just has to be dropped now. He is all over the press and radio as well as both of the major forums as being poor at the moment. He will have read and heard all this which will further dent his form and confidence. This renders him an increasing risk whilst playing for the first team. He now needs to regain confidence in a secure environment away from pressure, this can only be achieved by a few games playing for the under 23s. To continue playing him with most people starting to agree he is poor at the moment would be a bad management decision. Give him a rest there is nothing to lose and probably lots to gain both for him and the team.
