"Get Brexit done" is the 2019 equivalent of "strong and stable. " That didn't get the Tories very far. Time will tell about "Get Brexit done". Strong and stable proved to be totally untrue. Getting Brexit done is equally untruthful.

Hmmm. Having a rant about election leaflets from a political party during a General Election on a football forum. Giving a political party a childish insulting name. Are these the actions of a sane individual ? Do you think you are taking things a little far? Are you feeling well? Is this election having a toll on your health? Thought the substition for Romeu was very needed but came 10 minutes too late. We were losing the midfield and needed Romeu's power. How you see Saints's current position is a good test of whether you are a pessimist or optimist. On the one hand we have only just beaten the worst 2 teams in the league. On the other we are just 2 points from mid table. With teams like Bournemouth going on losing runs and looking at our upcoming fixtures, I think that we have grounds for optimism.

The need for PR and a change to the FPTP system is highlighted today with the news that since the second world war there are a number of constituencies which have never changed hands. Apparently 14 million voters live in these seats (more Labour than Tory) . The vote of anybody who lives in one of these constituencies yet does not like their party of the current incumbent in effect has a worthless vote. Chris Grayling proved to be one of the most incompetent ministers ever ( as an aside it would be interesting to know what part his "reforms" to the probation service played in the London Bridge atrocity). He is MP for Epsom and Ewell yet that seat has been Conservative since 1874!! There is a fat chance of him receiving the treatment from the electors that his record deserves. PR , according to its detractors, leads to the growth of extremists. They say that we would see more right and left wing extremists in Parliament with PR. I think , however, that we are already seeing extremists what with the left wing Momentum group dominating Labour and the Tories falling under the "drain the swamp " mentality of the likes of our own Duckie. Could it lead to anything much worse than we see now??

Thank you for replying. I hadn't seen Les's response but as you say he clearly doesn't read very well Apart from an inability to read well , does anyone know what the problem is with Les? Did he ever reply when asked to quote examples of how the EU adversely affected his life? Did that get sent in one of those periods when he ran away from this thread?

I always find it amusing when people on the right wing accuse the BBC of left wing bias. They cite Guardian reading journalists and other supposed bias. People on the left accuse it of right wing bias citing examples of removal of the laughter at Johnson at the leaders's debate and doctoring of the video of Johnson at the Cenotaph. I tend to think that if both the right wing and the left wing consider the BBC to be biased towards their opponents, then the BBC are probably doing things right and are not biased.

Good post. I intend to vote Lib Dem (or is it Lib Dumb as that seems to be their name for several on here). Negative points Leader lacks gravitas. Full of good ideas. Not sure that they have the capability of delivering them even if they were in a position of doing so. Their Brexit strategy is muddled. They are very keen to denounce Brexit but they should be doing much more to unite the Remain vote. I still intend to vote for them but despair at the lack of choice compared with previous elections.

If opinion polls are correct the Conservatives are likely to win a reasonable majority. I would say however that this is because of the poor state of the opposition rather than any desire of the country to support the right wing cult or indeed Brexit. Under Corbyn the Labour party is becoming a political movement rather than a party capable of Government. A Blair/ David Miliband leader would make mincemeat of the bumbling Johnson at an election. Anyway we are jumping the gun a little. Voting has not yet happened and polls are often wrong. We are told that local factors will play a big part in this election.Let us wait and see.

If he is so "wet" why do we see the likes of Raab and Patel in the key roles of government? It certainly is not for their intellect. Why do the likes of Clarke and countless others no longer feel at home in the Conservative party? Anyone who follows politics will know that the Conservatives ultimately lose power once they stop being the party of one nation and start to resemble a right wing cult.

What are you on about?? Johnson has only been in government for 5 minutes ... and those were spent in Parliamentary recess and him losing votes in Parliament. Ask about the difference between Javid and other chancellors once they have got their feet under the table. #fruitcake
