11 years ago I had no idea what to do with myself so I got a grant, took a course, which got me a job (albeit with a friend as a contact in the company) and it's turned out well for me. although I didn't have my family back then but what I'm getting at is luck is preparation meets opportunity, if you want to change start with small steps, research at the library etc, and build from there. You've already started by posting here, there's some good advice mixed with the dross in this thread.
