Indeed. You can tell he's played for Martin before and knows exactly what he and others should be doing. He's a real organiser, and is a very good player with it.
-
He's our best CB by some distance, but he's fragile and too good for he championship. I think he's one who'll be going.
-
Yep. Forest. £23m.
-
It's hard to know who'll go I think. I reckon we took a haircut on Orsic and Diallo (ie fee covering wages shortfall for the balance of the contract period, or something like that) and I wouldn't be surprised to see us find a way to cut out losses on others. The next few weeks are going to be interesting, but I'm confident we'll go into September in good shape squad wise.

Very good! You've now got me saying it in the style of a Harry Potter spell 🪄😂
-
Bednarek was my punt last season, and I think he'll be decent. I just think it shines through that Martin is a bright player, and very much knows the Martin way. If not the captain, he'll be good for us. In fact, there'll be a few leaders in that back 4 this season which will help.
-
Ha!! It's people using the same avatars that's a pain...you see an avatar for the last post on a thread, and have a click thinking it'll be someone interesting, but it's some other bandwagon jumper.
-
I think it'll be Manning. Very much a Martin man.
-
I reckon there's 7 or 8 that I think most of us would be relaxed (or happy) to see gone. My concern is more about making room for 4-5 new starters that'll suit Martin's style and improve us. Half a new team, plus Charles and Manning, and we're getting where we need to be.
-
There's more chance of getting credible information from a crop circle mate.
-
McCarthy...there's 10, although I don't think it'll that many purely because there's some we won't be able to shift. Regardless of the numbers, we need a huge clear out before Martin can bring in more players that he wants.
-
That's the issue, some of them won't be wanted by other clubs, and others won't want to go for a lesser wage. Getting rid of some of these is likely to hit us hard in the pocket, but it's that or keep them and pay them not to play. Not ideal.
-
Losing 10 leaves us with 17 first team squad members. Add 4 or 5 and we have 22-23 plus the likes of Amo-Ameyaw, Doyle, Ballard, Meghoma etc. I can't see that we need more than that.
-
Yep, and that youth includes Simeu, Small, Dibling, Doyle, Ballard, Meghoma and Amo-Ameyaw who ought to be in or around the first team, at least for cup games. I reckon 7-10 still need to get gone to leave room for 4-5 Martin players, and give some kind of pathway for the better kids.
-
Young Abu coming through, Payne, and Davis too. Not short of players who can do a job if needed.
-
Yep. I've been shot down for saying that the PL market for him is a small one. Villa were apparently keen but that ship appears to have sailed. Brighton look for players they can cash in on. I can't see him dislodging Reed at Fulham. Other than the minnows, I can't see where else he would get regular starts.
-
I get the sentiment, but JWP won't be the difference between staying put or going up imo. The difference will be a solid ball playing CB, and a striker who can finish and create a bit for himself. I'd rather cash in, source a decent championship level replacement, and splash the cash to strengthen where we're week.
-
Who says that was an option? The club got the kid, we got service, we made cash. All good.
-
It was great business. The kid was exactly that, and was worth a punt at £5m. It worked out, and we had a great year from him before he got injured. We then made a several hundred percent return on our investment. On no assessment was that terrible business.
-
Tella gets a chance to rip up the championship again, and Tino gets to swap the couch for a bench. Tino will spend another year barely playing football again - loads of cash, but poor from a development perspective.
-
His youth team record that season was incredible. However, if Arsenal had their usual CB's that day (I think Gus Caeaser plus one other played) he wouldn't have had it so easy. Cream nearly always rises to the top, but Arsenal's team selection that day helped Shearer's career big time.
-
Probably the best we could get. Martin wants his people so we're going to have to take hits here and there or be stuck with players we don't want. There'll be loans, contracts paid up, and cheap deals on quite a few players I'd imagine just to clear the decks.
-
Yep. Seems to be €1.5m loan fee with a €3.5m obligation to buy.
