I'd have preferred Ings to a project, but I can see why the club may have been hesitant.
-
We don't decide the clauses...why would he agree one with us if, for example, west ham are offering him full whacl for say 2 1/2 years? Real world ain't what blokes on a forum would like to happen.
-
Very relevant if we go down and are stuck with him. I repeat my point from yesterday that there's too much of a fantasy football rather than real world mentality on here. Signing him wouldn't have guaranteed safety.
-
Price is only half of the story. The wages, length of the deal, and what happens if we go down are the other half of it. If West Ham were willing to give him the wages he's getting, and perhaps throw him a longer deal than we would, he was never going to come here.
-
Exactly. We're seen as a stepping stone by these lads, and if we had the option to extend the contract when they wanted to move, we wouldn't get these players. A 4 year contract works for the club and the player.
-
If the player agrees to them... There's supply and demand, our need, and player greed all at play here - we ain't in the driving seat. Ings will undoubtedly want a bigger and longer contract than we'd want to give. He may well keep us up, but he'd be a huge problem for us if we go down.

It's a real shame that Elm Park has been and gone. Would have been a great place for all these players.

Trevor Cherry (from beyond the grave). JJ OAKocha too.

Very good...that took me far too long 😂

The United Kingdom and the Death of Boris Johnson as we know it.

Very technically...the pay rise would largely be picked up by the state. The precedent point is still valid though. -
That's probably right, although the concern is no actual new central striker so leaving us with Che, A Armstrong or a winger playing through the middle. Not ideal.
-
Why though? Orsic, Edozie, Djenepo, Stu Armstrong, Adam Armstrong (mostly been playing there). Seems an odd use of our cash.
-
Two footed though... every cloud and all that.
-
It's a cunning plan. I keeper, 2 CB's, and 8 left wingers.

Yes, but for context, he also said that conceding would set a precedent for other public sector pay demands and cost us a fortune. -
He was booed off the pitch by his own fans who told him to the leave the club according to the article linked above, so it seems you're not alone.
-
That's dirt cheap. He's more of a left winger though...do we need another one?

Confirmation right there that a lot of this 3rd party analysis/stats is utter bollox.

New guidance in Canada is to really cut down, max of 2x drinks per week. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-64311705

There's too much fantasy approach on here. This is the real world. I'm interested in what the club can realistically do, not what people on a forum would like after watching a few YouTube videos and reading some stats. It's the January window so there's limited options. We're in the shit. Sellers know that. We're fishing in a small pond for players that other clubs want. Anyone wanting us to sign another talented kid must be nuts, and completely forgotten Mara. He needs time. Another kid will need time. Guess what, we ain't got time. Sure, there's better centre forwards out there, but we need one PL ready immediately. Not once we're down. And only for this season stay up, then buy properly in the summer. This is a half season signing. In reality there's two PL experienced centre forwards mentioned. If Villa beat us at the weekend and go to 28 points I think there's a chance they would send Ings here, otherwise no chance. That leaves only Wood, or someone from overseas. Jackson has promise but is one legged. Risky. Moffi wouldn't be sanctioned by the Bournemouth owner. Beto looks like the best option. We also need to think whether, in the real world, a player will drag himself overseas to a club staring at relegation. Not many would want that. Yep, wood ain't the best, but in the real world, nobody is presenting a credible option who'd likely come here and improve us quickly.
