When £100m + of signings don't pay off, and have no resale value, its inevitable that we can't spend on new players. Had we been able to offload those signings at cost we'd be better placed, but we have no way of recouping what we've wasted. Throw payoffs to shit managers, Forster, no commercial revenue, etc in the mix and its easy to see why we're on a mess. It's been a shit storm for years and the current lot have got an unenviable job.

He had a great season. Played 51 games, including in every league game. Sure, he didn't score many as he was played deeper, but he was a massive part of the team. He stood out more for his country as he was playing off the centre forward.

Yep, agreed. That said, if he's say a £10m player, a £2m loan fee for a season isn't unreasonable.

Wijnaldum had a storming season for Liverpool last season. That was the final year of his contract. Ended rather well for him - one of the best players at the Euros and a deal with PSG. No reason whatsoever why Ings won't have a great season for us.

I agree he's not a premier league player, but I get the impression that something other than football reasons kept him out of the Birmingham team.
