  1. Quite. If we had the ability to do that we could and should be able to secure a decent deal. Instead the sellers need a loan!
  2. Why silly to pay all upfront, especially if that secures the deal?
  3. Is it though? It is our problem if they won't deal unless we put cash on the table. Save for the obvious impact on cashflow, what is wrong with paying the full fee? If we haven't got the cash that's our problem. If we had it that puts us in the strongest possible position. I find the whole concept of the selling club needing to take out a loan to sell an asset more than a little strange.
  4. Apologies, poor choice of words. We can't give the guarantees that are required. The bottom line is that if we can't /wont pay in full then bologna need a loan. Our "proof" of ability to pay is seemingly not good enough as it doesn't prove that we will pay and does not give security.
  5. I didn't say we can't prove we can't pay by instalments but I haven't read that we can or have. Either we haven't given the bank guarantees that are needed. I'm unsure why Why is it mental to pay up front? Far more normal than expecting the selling club to take a loan against our non bank guaranteed instalments.
  6. Wrong. If we had paid up front or could have given the guarantees he'd be our player. The only other explanation is we had a change of heart which seems unlikely.
  7. We don't want to pay up front (or can't afford to) and can't prove we can pay in instalments so he ain't coming. Well that's my take on it anyway
  8. I work with Nicky's sister (also Nicky, bizarrely) and have met Sophia. She is a fantastic kid who will benefit massively from this operation. Nicky played in the days before players earned mega bucks and isn't in a position to fund this. The family and friends are doing loads themselves to help Sophia but can't do it on their own - please dig deep if you can.
  9. Acer Android 2.3 smartphone. Brilliant bit of kit, well reviewed and good to use. Boxed with case, charger and spare battery. Decent condition. Has a couple of light scurface scratches that you have to try hard to see. See the acer site for details: http://www.acer.co.uk/ac/en/GB/content/series/liquidmt £75 collected from Southampton. Can post for a fiver.

  11. Mark Wright is the best footballer I've seen play there for us, so him.
  12. Now that I don't agree with. Complete b0ll0cks in fact.
  13. MLG, read Chez's point re davis. Assuming he's right we haven't got clearance. I don't regard Forecast as cover. You may, but you're probably in a minority. Anyway, I vowed never to get into a pointless exchange with you again. You'll have the last word even I was to carry on all day so fill your boots.
  14. Jeez, some of you people only read the bits you want to read! Goalkeeping cover?!?! Technically yes, but in reality no. "Doubt" is subjective. Alpine has doubt and posed a question. Others may not, that's fine. We haven't made four signings.
  15. Weird but so is my fridge and it's not even Greek. On topic though I don't like naming stands. If the family support was arranged as sponsorship, or similar, I wouldn't object to the family name attaching to our stadium.
  16. It is unclear whether Davis is cleared to play for us. I've read nothing to say that we have clearance. Alpine asked a question about our midfield strength as he has doubts. Some will agree with that. You appear to agree with his points about other positions. It's refreshing to see you actually agreeing with another poster.
  17. Alpine stated the facts, as they are, based on this summers transfer activity to date. He was factually accurate. What has Lee's signing (last season) or last summers signings got to do with this summers concluded (and reported) transfer activity? What has non concluded (and reported) transfer activity got to do with it? Facts are facts - stop trying to argue black is white.
  18. Can't argue with that.

Current players aside, does anyone know the amount of the football debt and the deadline for payment?
  20. Testosterone, lesbians, pedants, shearer, jimmy five bellies etc are all really exciting but can anyone tell me what this keeper is like? Thanks.
  21. I agree with Colin. Android phones are great but nowhere near as intuitive as the windows phone which really is a "pick up and play" phone.
  22. The lumia very different to anything android. Not at all geeky so you can't customise it with different browsers, keyboards, roms etc. You just use it and it work very, very well. Its definitely less buggy, no force closes on apps etc. The software is excellent and I don't get the fuss about lack of upgrades. It doesn't need them but 7.8 is on its way anyway. In real use speed the lumia outperforms all of the androids I've owned.
  23. 7.8, that's what I meant. Whatever the number, it's an upgrade! 7.5 is superb anyway, changes aren't strictly needed.
  24. Ignore the advice on the lumia. I've been an Android user since the 1.6 days and when I upgraded a month ago I looked at all of those you mention. I went for the lumia 800 and its amazing, stupidly quick and well built. The 900 looks better still. Ms and Nokia have clearly chucked a fortune at tge technology in an effort to catch up, and it shows. Windows 8 will be rolled out soon so upgrade not an issue.
  25. Derek Hookings at Motorhouse, Pitt Road in Freemantle. Does bikes and cars. Quality is great and fair prices.
