# I was bold enough to predict a fight against relegation back in May. I was lambasted and ridiculed for being pessimistic in predicting 17th. Now I am being told that I am being unduly optimistic in predicting 17th !!

Anyone like to revise their prediction for the coming season ?

I don't have Sky, never have done. I prefer the wireless.

If we go down I don't see it as a problem. If we have a good pot of cash we can buy young and up coming players in a lower division and then build a new and exciting team again. We can then sell them for a good profit, get relegated and start the rebuilding again. We can build our reputation on helping to get youngsters into first team football and will attract the best, knowing that we are happy to be a stepping stone for the bigger clubs. Financially we will remain stable and we may build good relations with the big 5 clubs. I call it the 'yoyo' strategy and to me it is worth supporting.

Take on a different outlook. Enjoy the relegation season in the knowledge that we will have the money to re-build properly in the Championship or even League 1, and watch us rise again.

Honestly, we are employing a 'yoyo' strategy. Relegation, use the money to rebuild with young up and coming players. Have a couple of good seasons at the top. Sell and start the cycle again. Get used to it.

Looks more likely. 17th will be something to aspire to for most off the season. I think we may still have a pot of money at the end of the season and when we are relegated will use it to rebuild. I won't be smug at all. Looking on the bright side, maybe it is best to hold on to our money, take a chance. If we get relegated buy good quality young players in the Championship, possibly League 1 and bring through academy players, and in two or three seasons go up again. Have a couple of good premier years, sell again, take a chance on relegation and if necessary start the process again ! We could find our niche in the football world as well as being wealthy and avoiding debt.

There is some truth in the sentiment. I always start the season with one thing in mind, can Saints avoid relegation ? This attitude has been burnt into my mind since the hard struggles of the 1990's.

I pretty much knew that we had sacrificed our proud 26 year unbroken run in the top flight when we the board bowed to the lunatic fringe appointing Sturrock over Hoddle. The signs are very similat this year for the reasons you suggest except for the fact that we have a much better manager. I predict a relegation fight.
