Just a few weeks ago you would have been lambasted for such an view, now you are one of many and even my prediction made in May of 16th to 19th begins to look to optimistic.

Alpine, I can see us dropping a league, but not into oblivion. We may well rebuild a great team again. What intrigues me most is how much of the current sale of players will go into the rebuilding of the club.

Whatever you say, it looks to me as if the club is being stripped of its assets and ready for a quick sale. Could NC be waiting int he wings with a new buyer ?

I'll say again, anyone like to revise their predictions ?

It almost feels like we are facing relegation and yet we haven't kicked a ball. I feel empty and fearful for a long drawn out and humiliating season. My only hope, if those players that remain can rekindle the dogged spirit of the 90's when we fought against all odds to hold on to our proud record of staying in the top league. Of course we had our talisman, MLT, to inspire us and the Dell was the cauldron of the underdog. So, if he stays can Koeman rally us or will we slink into the shadows like a haunted flea bitten mongrel, licking our wounds ?

I tell you, this is not the time for trolling. I think we are in big big trouble ! I am almost in tears.

I am being serious here, I actually think it is a strategy, to drop down a league if necessary , with a fair wedge of cash and rebuild. I know people have laughed it off, but it looks like the 'yoyo' strategy is our strategy. I am NOT TROLLING !

How long before Boruc is off to Bornemuff and Jose off to Burnley and Cork off to Norwich etc.... I was looking at the predictions thread and I reckon to finish 17th will be outstanding achievement for Billy Sharp, Hooivel, Gazza and the youth squad.

If this happens then I think we will see the management resign and spend a very long season stuck at the foot of the table, a laughing stock. Like a little miser in his leaky wooden shed counting his dirty money over and over again whilst all around the reminders of a once glorious past fade into dust. Like a Dickansian novel.

Agreed, if we don't get some very good signings you can only see us heading, no hurtling towards the trap door at break neck speed. Could be one of the biggest falls of grace since that lot down the road collapsed. The money is the 'only' consolation but will it still be AVAILABLE to the club if we get relegated ?

We are getting a right spanking in the transfer market. I reckon we are going for a very high risk strategy. Namely, see if we can finish in the prem and hang on to the money, 17th, will do. Or, if we get relegated, take the money with us and start building again at a fraction of the cost. Looks like we are a 'yoyo' club and the board are happy with that.

That is a very good 'coping strategy'.

I think most people would find 15th cause for celebration with our threadbare squad.

Don't worry, we will finish 17th ! Just enough to stay up....maybe.

For once my rather modest prediction looks to be a majority view.

I will stick to 17th, but beginning to look like it may be more in hope than reality.

I think this year people cannot cope with my optimism !
