As I have been saying for years, staying in the Premier League is the first objective, anything else a bonus. 17th, will be another season of success, 18th failure. Same as ever. Nice to see that a vast swathe of fans are at last thinking the same way as me and expressing it on this forum.

Totally agree, we need to think about the 'here and now' task of securing our Premier status.

I find that a replica 'bobble hat' and a wooly scarfe is enough to show the away fans who you support. Both can be worn at winter and keep you warm as you pour out oxtail soup from you red and white chequered thermos. For the Cup games it is worth buying a club rosette and a rattle can also increase the enjoyment of the occasion.

The majority of fans were much more pragmatic and put the good of the club before points scoring. The minority made a lot of noise, disproportionate to their numbers. At least you have admitted the part of the fans in blocking the appointment of Hoddle. Many of the 'few', are too lilly livered to admit their part in the debacle and indeed they would rather airbrush the incident from history. If Lowe had appointed Hoddle in 2004 instead of Sturrock we may well have continued our unbroken run in the Premier League. The fact that he and the board bowed to pressure from a tiny vocal minority of fans was his downfall and tragic for the club.

I know people who have stopped watching league football and started supporting and watching non league football. Cheaper, good atmosphere and enjoyable to see teams built from the start and rise up the leagues. I have to say I can see where they are coming from.

Exactly, KL wants to sell the club as a viable going concern, not as a basket case. It is a difficult balancing act though and any more sales will probably leave the club anchored at the foot of the table and less attractive to any investor. I would say we are without doubt 'For Sale'.
