I am sure we would NOT have been relegated if Hoddle had been appointed in the Spring of 2004. We payed a heavy price for placating a small but vocal minority of SFC fans. The appointment of Hoddle in 2012 is a far more risky option for the reasons stated above. I think we should stick with NA come what may as I am sure that we can pull things together next season, even if in the NPC.

Unbelievable !

Seems like I have touched a raw nerve old boy !

Er...yes it is a 'yoyo' strategy because it is a plan that can be emploted if necessary. Sorry if It is beyond your rather lower evolved alien brain. Clearly Krakens are less evolved than Daleks.
-
Of course we want to stay up ! That is our first objective BUT I also believe we have been very realistic and wise in our planning in that we have considered that relegation is a real possibility. We therefore have a second plan that will see us with the capacity to bounce back quickly without breaking the bank or taking the risk aka West Ham. If this is not a 'yoyo' policy then I don't know what is !
-
It is a vanity signing, but importantly a YOUNG player with many years to go in his career. Therefore we can sell him on should we get relegated, even if we lose a fe w million on what we paid for him. It would be different if we had gone for an old but expensive war horse coming to the end of his career. So Ramirez, worth a punt with a limited risk. The more you look at the evidence of our investment in quality young players the more the evidence stacks up that we are building for the future as opposed to risking all for a short term policy of staying in the premiership. This is the very essence of the 'yoyo' policy. The final piece in the jigsaw ? NA will stay and bring us back up again with a team of players that have matured and been strengthened with new talent.

Play without fear ! Attacking formation !!!
-
Agreed. It's as simple as that. I also think that we decided to give the season a good go and if we get relegated recall the likes of Sharp and sell off the likes of Ramirez and go for immediate promotion. I think NA and NC are in agreement but are hardly like to make this plan public. It is called the 'yoyo' strategy and considering the abuse I have had for mentioning it, I can see why they want to keep it quiet !
-
Because progress in the long term is hardly ever without a few down turns !
-
Proof, if anything that we have a 'yoyo' plan. Some very good young players !
-
I have said countless times and as early as may, that the club would not look at things in the short term. We will build a future in a sustainable way. As you have so concisely described ther will be a strategy for relegation and promotion again. There always has been and that means going back to the time when we were taken over. I have famously coined the phrase a 'yoyo' plan and all the indications arfe that I was right on the button !

No it would not ! We could go back up. again -
Good point. I think he would have to take us down before building us up again, which i think NA could also do so unless NA walks we should stick with him. I am not sure whether Glenn has still got it in him though !
-
B. Trouble is with our modern way of living is that too many people want things right now without having to wait. Patience is the key. We have lots of good players and will get stronger. 17th would really have pleased me last year as i know that we have a long term plan to improve ina sustainable manner.

Agree with the above poster. IT IS NOT A DISASTER IF WE GET RELEGATED PROVIDED WE REMAIN UNITED. wE CAN AND WILL BOUNCE BACK NEXT SEASON !!!! -
My view is to stick with NA. But if NA walked then of course Glenn Hoddle would be the perfect replacement if we want a fighting chance of staying up !

Summary of Nigel's Post-Match interview after Leeds
Dalek2003 replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
NA has to say things like the 'game mattered' but in reality it did not. We just have to see this season out. The league is what matters and we have to stick with NA and remember that we can bounce right back if we get relegated. We have a 'yoyo' strategy in place ! -
Totally agree ! Post of the week. Bed wetters, Wrist slitters and doom merchants take note !
-
I cannot believe the hysterical reactions on this board of late. This was a non event game. We are in the Premier League and will get a big fat payout even if we are relegated. We got promoted a year or two earlier than expected. My prediction of 17th was always more realistic last year. We always have had a 'yoyo' strategy (which I told you of way back in June), in place and i fully expect NA to get us promoted back into the premer league at the end of next season. What the fans need is a bit of patience and to encourage the team !
-
Not too bothered abou8ut losing this one or indeed getting relegated this season. It was always about giving it a shot and if necessary taking the prem money so we can have another go at promotion. We are following a 'yoyo' strategy !
-
Looks like we are going to do our best to fulfil the 'yoyo' strategy ! LOL
-
Oh, ALL bow tot the great CBFRY. His word should nver be doubted.
-
Yes. We are giving it a go this seaeson. But Ramirez is young. If we fail we sell him at the end of the season. We bring back Billy Sharpe and we go for promotion again.
-
I don't fear going into the NPC because i think it was a possibility that we have already planned for. We will follow the yoyo strategy and I can't see much wrong with that ! Whether wehave also planned to stick with NA during our 'ups and downs' is an interesting point to ponder. Anyway, you heard it from the Dalek first !

Harry Redknapp to be named manager within 3 weeks
Dalek2003 replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
The choice some people made in 2004, when they were against the re-appointment of Hoddle. Hope people thought it was worth it. Personally I am backing NA at the moment, but if NA should resign before he is pushed i believe we should back Lucifer himself, if he can keep us up ! LOL
