I think the criticism stems from him changing formation and personnel without a clue what his best team is or the formation they should play in. He needs to decide on a system, a starting XI and stick with it. I’d give him patience and appreciation for that, but he simply looks lost, as do the players on occasions.
-
This formation leaves us wide open and the three centre backs seem like they have no idea what they should be doing. We need to switch to 4-5-1 and try and take control of possession in the middle of the park. I really fear for the second half.

I live in Cornwall and there's no way my son and I are going to spend 12 hours and £100 to go and watch a game. We usually try to get to at least five matches each season, but my 10-year-old has no interest in going after watching (via streaming) some of the dross we have served up so far this campaign. It's a real shame as I love a football day out with him, but I can totally understand his feelings. Attendances are falling now and long term, they may fall even further, unless changes take place soon.

I would welcome any of these rather than Hughes (and I have tried to be realistic): Chris Wilder Alex Neil Frank Lampard Lee Johnson Rafa Benitez Brendan Rodgers Sean Dyche Steven Gerrard Jurgen Klinsmann Claudio Ranieri Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

This was a game crying out for 4-5-1 with three central midfielders. The only chance we had of getting anything from this game was to frustrate City and see if we could hit them on the break. Playing Ings every week is detrimental to the team as we are shoe-horning him into the number 10 role and that is affecting the balance of the side. If we are going to play him, play him up front. Oh, plus we are generally ****e, with a ****e manager, ****e tactics and ****e players!

A defeat is definitely on the cards. I will await the team selection before deciding on how many we will concede! More important for me today is the performance, the desire and the attitude displayed by the players. There is no doubt we will be fighting relegation this season. Today's game is a write off, but a decent display could help us push on for the Watford and Fulham matches - huge, huge games potentially.
-
For me, with the personnel we have, I would pick the following team. That leaves the likes of Ings, Armstrong, Elyounoussi, Long, to make an impact from the bench. Cue the abuse! Gunn Cedric Stephens Vestergaard Bertrand Romeu Hojbjerg Ward-Prowse Lemina Redmond Gabbi

The problem we have is a lack of pace in the side and two strikers who are too alike. Playing Ings in the number 10 role simply does not work. We have to play a number 10 who can drive forward from midfield and who can both create and take a shot at goal. I'd like to see Redmond given a chance there. If not, push Lemina forward as he appears to be the only player with the athleticism to cope with the role.
-
Unbelievable team selection. Elyounoussi is garbage at this level. He is too lightweight and struggles with the pace of the game. Austin offers nothing to the team. His movement is virtually non-existent, his hold up play dreadful, and his ability to challenge in the air woeful. I hate Hughes!

Nearly a quarter of the way through the season and we have a manager who has no idea what his best team is and no idea what formation best suits his players. Asking Gabbi to play wide is ridiculous. Zonal marking clearly doesn’t work for this team. I seriously fear for us going forward if Hughes remains in charge.
-
We are now playing the team I would have started with. Be interesting to see how they go. Can we draw the second half?!
-
Free header. No-one on the post. This could easily be six or seven. Talk about making things hard for yourself!
-
Why do we sit back, defend deep and invite pressure on ourselves? First goal was a combined fault of Vestergaard playing them onside and McCarthy failing to come out to make it difficult. The second goal was the result of the ridiculous decision to ask Ward-Prowse to mark Duffy - total mismatch. I would have much preferred to have seen Maya come on instead of Davis as it was obvious we would have to withstand a late onslaught. Our failure to win home matches - particularly against sides likely to struggle - will see us in another relegation fight I am afraid.
-
Gabbi must watch our games from our sidelines and wonder how on earth he doesn't get an opportunity. Austin has absolutely no movement and just cannot hold the ball up. He should not be an option away from home. I would rather see Gallagher.
-
Ings does more in five seconds than Austin did in 55 minutes!
-
There is no movement when we attack. Switch to 4-2-3-1, let's add some width and let's try and win the game. This is ****e!
-
So defensive at home with five at the back. How on earth Hojbjerg and Gabbi aren't starting I will never know. Austin's movement is laboured at best. No hold on the game in midfield. Depressing start.

JWP always puts in a good shift and he is a decent footballer, but the key thing is the formation we will play next season and trying to fit him into the team. If we play 5-4-1 again next season (and I hope we don't as our midfield is much stronger than our defence), then I simply don't see JWP making the starting XI as Oriel, PEH and Lemina are ahead of him for the central midfield positions, and he isn't likely to play out wide unless we plan to play defensive. I would love to see him given an extended run-out in the number 10 role, supporting the striker and getting the chance to get on the ball, but I just don't see it. A decent squad player, but who knows, he may get frustrated at the lack of opportunities and seek a move elsewhere?

Leaving Cornwall at 2.30pm for this one and making use of the Felindre Park and Ride. I’m optimistic of us getting a win and even my 10-year-old lad (who is the most pessimistic Saints fan) thinks we can do it! I just hope we both have something to cheer come 9.45pm tomorrow night.
-
I am so looking forward to this one. I'll be there with my 10-year-old lad, giving everything I can to help the boys to victory. Two or three weeks ago, I would have been ****eing myself over this, but I am actually confident that we can go there and pick up a win. It is down to us now, so let's give it a damn good go.
-
Gutted, but we are out of the bottom three and now everything is in our own hands. I would have settled for that before today's matches so bring on Swansea!
-
WTF? Let's just wave the white flag!
-
We have to take off a CB and a CM and bring on Austin and Redmond / Sims. We have to win this!
