CONFIRMED - Mane joins Liverpool for £34m + £2m addons
Dig Dig replied to toe_punt's topic in The Saints
He's the type of player capable of causing teams a whole host of problems. He will be frustrating at times but that's the nature of his kind of player. -
Saints prepare new contract for Nathaniel Clyne
Dig Dig replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Clyne couldn't be in a better position really. 18 months left on his contract, a full England international with top sides interested coming into the prime of his career. It would be impressive if he did sign a new contract but I doubt it will happen. -
Saints prepare new contract for Nathaniel Clyne

Fonte and Davis wouldn't get the fees or the deals the likes of Clyne could get. It would be great to get someone like him to sign up again. At most however, it would probably only guarantee another season. -
Consent issue a side, what sort of man goes off in the middle of the night off a back of a text from a mate claiming "he has a bird" in the belief that this "bird" who he has never met, seen or spoken to would automatically want to have sex with him and his mate and not only that, take two other mates along to film it? What an utter cretin and I hope he never kicks a ball as a professional ever again.

It wasn't clear but I think he was unhappy at not playing which he said was normal for any footballer.

The Saints bit was first up and I caught a little bit. Most interesting snippets include: - Thinks Koeman is a great manager, very open and approachable - The midfielders are free to push forward as long as one is holding which is why they are scoring more - There was a ''misunderstanding" with Koeman when Victor wasn't playing but he is happy and hoping to keep his place in the team - He was worried over the summer when the players were leaving as he had never seen or experienced it before but the players who came in are very good - Doesn't think we are over achieving, we work hard and are getting our reward for that

It's a little bit odd how these whispers in the corridors were not mentioned at the time by the unbelievable one. I might just be done with it all and publish an open letter of apology to Jeff in the Echo.
-
I doubt anyone was lying, particularly those who clearly care about the club and are still here. If you are willing to disregard players coming out and talking about the lack of clarity over the summer and the perception of the direction the club were heading in, it's a pointless argument. Even Koeman is surprised about how well we have started and spoke about having to lift the group at the beginning. His appointment and his subsequent signings was the key to salvaging the situation.

Of course Suarez was a huge factor in their title challenge last season, an immense player despite being a ****. However, you can take away the goals from top scorers and any pens from any team in the World and conclude they wouldn't have been any good!

Tadic looks like he's settled in well and comfortable enough to play with his junk during training sessions. Great spirit is still in the camp.
-
I don't think he was expecting this though, he seemed to be backing himself at the time of the move and at the start of the season. He's never going to make an impact there by getting a few minutes here and there. He must have been thinking he would be more involved but Rodgers doesn't seem to rate him that much at all.

Haha, what a knob

Saints 8 (Eight) Sunderland 0 - Match and Reactions
Dig Dig replied to Unbelievable Jeff's topic in The Saints
Amazing game, we were fairly average in the first half, Sunderland very unlucky to go in 3-0 down. They couldn't get near us second half though, another top display. Tadic.....wow. -
Love Koeman, such a lad.

I'm not paranoid. My tin hat is on so I know that nothing can harm me. It was only tongue in cheek, let's not derail a positive thread.
-
We should be enjoying our start to the season as reflected by Pelle's award. Instead, SC decides to post a hypothetical scenario which involves Pelle moving to one of the top Italian teams in the summer. He seems to have a complex about just enjoying the here and now. Maybe he should go outside and get some air instead of worrying all the time?
-
Why do you have to spoil a positive thread with your usual negative bile?
-
He'll be in the last year of his contract though so he'll be in a strong position regardless and will be an attractive prospect for a number of clubs regardless.
-
They probably would to be honest. Not me, I'll be outside enjoying the sunshine and the fresh air and wouldn't care in the slightest regarding what is going on at the club.
-
I think it would be brilliant. I went into last summer thinking that 1 or 2 stars would go but that no club would be stupid enough to flog half their starting 11, especially having failed to convince the manager to stay. I have to say though, having read all the of the enlightened views on here and the subsequent reports from the club which indicate that everyone was chilled about it all and did it all on our terms, I am perfectly relaxed. We've set a blueprint out for the future. Sell big, buy cheaper but do better. What could possibly go wrong?

Morgan Schneiderlin comments in 'France Football' magazine
Dig Dig replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
The 10M becomes a red herring when Morgan talks about the club not selling him for any price. In addition, he talks about interest from two other clubs and we have no idea what they would be willing to pay. Of course though, we should disregard all of what Morgan says about the situation as he is just trying to appease the fans and was only ever interested in the money and the perceived direction of the club had nothing to do with anything. CB Fry told us so. -

Except I didn't call it an asset strip. You were the one who spent a weird amount of time going through the business definitions of an asset strip, as if it even mattered. I was unhappy about us selling off our best players and glad it stopped at Morgan. I thought it was a huge risk at the time and thought we would struggle to gel and get a strong team togther. Koeman et al have done a very good job on that front according to our early season form but it is interesting to hear from those closer to the situation than we ever will be talking about the same concerns at the time. -

What a dumb bed wetter Morgan is. He obviously didn't have the foresight of many on here who knew we'd be fine during all the player sales. -

I recall Reed talking about how Lovren went through one of the most detailed and comprehensive scouting process in football history. They must have missed the small detail about him being a disloyal ****! But obviously on average and over time, we will get more right than wrong if we keep it up.
