On the same day that Chambers was sold, many media outlets seemed to think both Morgan and Jay were about to sign for Spurs. Kruguer had been speaking to Spurs the week before and Morgan and his agents expected the deal to go through. Somethin changed so if not the wider media attention and fan reaction over social media, what changed?

The thread for people who want to say sorry to the board
Dig Dig replied to berkshiresaint's topic in The Saints
My main point all summer was that we appeared to be doing nothing to try and keep the core of the squad together and the reports coming out where that players were becoming very frustrated very quickly about the lack of communication from the board. We were told that when the big clubs come calling with pockets full of cash, we simply have to let players go regardless of length of contract. I'm glad the board used the "no means no" policy to good effect with Morgan and Jay. -
No, 2855 was the record

I thought last season was excellent for a 2nd season in the prem and I don't think you can underestimate the fact that we relied on such a small crop of players with the rest so far behind in terms of quality. Add Tadic, Pelle, Forster and a Gardos/TW to the group we had (even if we lost just 1 or 2) then I think we would have been set for an impressive season with Europe qualification a realistic target. All conjecture now though of course, nothing left to do but get the team again and enjoy more attractive football and a decent amounts of wins.
-
If we get the last two targets confirmed and over the line then I think we have come out of a difficult summer in good shape and could have a another solid season. The shame of it all when comparing the two squads are that (IMO) a couple of our new recruits would have pushed us on to have a better crack at the elite in the same vein as Spurs and Everton but we couldn't keep hold of enough players to do it. That's life and football I guess but the squad itself isn't looking too bad at all.

Same notion applies to when you disbelieve everything just because it's in the Mail......you may be disappointed...

The full quote from the Independent is a little more telling: Koeman added that he was “99 per cent” certain Schneiderlin would be staying – “100 per cent if it is up to me”. Seems that Koeman doesn't have full control of whether Morgan leaves. 99% is pretty certain none the less but interesting that has decided to put a little pressure on the board.

He was awful last week but 2 goals in 2 games is great for us and Pelle and that's the most important thing. Are you trying to get people talking about his crap performance last week so you can whinge about negative posters again?

Can the Bed Wetting and Negativity please stop here!

Let's just keep the knee jerk jizz cocking to a minimum and just wait and see. #septemberone -
I've always said he'll be brilliant for us and better than Lambert
-
They go hand in hand with positive counter arguments. It's called debate.
-
Stay classy Jeff.
-
Ummmmm. Long isn't as good as Lambert and doesn't fit into the formation we play and Pelle is technically inferior to Lambert by a long way. As we have a better attacking line up, I guess we can expect to break our record goals scored in the Premier League again this season?
-
Positive stuff is fine, negative opinions must be saved for September One, or if not that, after 10 games, or if not, November, or if not, Christmas, or if not, May......apparently.
-
I do love you Jeff
-
Prob on par with Pelle then but with more attempts.
-
Chambers? Squad still short of players and unbalanced?
-
I don't think we would miss his creatively that much and if we are going to be playing JWP, may as well be out right for him to get some decent crosses in.
-
Echoes my view as well. Spot on.
-
Just catching up, did Tadic go off injured?
-
Without Rodriguez being available, we don't have players for an effective 433 formation. Tadic and Gaston are best used in a central 10 position but can obviously do a job wide. If we are to improve in the final third, a winger is a necessity, someone with the ability to carry the ball and get defenders facing the wrong way.
-
The stats probably include the ones where the ball come off his neck or chested down to no one at all.

New players get less and less time to settle in these days.

He hasn't actually been boo'd, there were some idiotic ironic cheers when he finally won an aerial dual. In addition, there is every reason why he may not do well here, it's a huge step up from the dutch leagues. -
He was having a go at the lino
