It's not the amount, it's how you spend it. Spurs wasted 100M in the most part but could have bridged the gap by better planning. They could have spent half that amount and still achieved it. How other clubs spend (and waste) money doesn't provide a benchmark for all.

That's ludicrous! Point being, FF's gushing praise is all about what's good for him and his books, nothing more. Bit concerning that Ralf had 90 mins to spare for FF's show and tell.

It all comes down to FF getting what he wants. He would rather sacrifice on field success in favour of some dusty old minute books. This has no concern at all for the large majority if saints fans and that is fact. The second FF doesn't get what he wants, his tune will change, it always does. By the way, there isn't anything to suggest we won't be spending similar a amount this summer to the last. Pochettino will need that to push the club forward and our spending hasn't been excessive anyway.

Considering that Les Reed has told people that Poch has handed him a list of transfer targets, I'd be surprised if he was only or mostly interested in British players.

Which bits are reassuring? The return to stripes within an unspecified timeframe or the bit about him being really nice?

I'd be happier if we got worst next season if anything. The further we are away from European places, the more comfortable I am. There are a few Cortese hangovers lingering around like Pochettino and players who believe they can play in Europe. The sooner they all bugger off, the more chance we have of a 100% return to the mid-sized plucky provincial club we are used to. That amber nectar is going to be so so sweet.

Had a decent chat with Ralf, he said that he is "batting calls away everyday" and that no player has expressed any desire to leave, they are determined to keep what we have etc. The same as what has been said before except Reed has denied any contact from clubs. He said he said that we should know about Poch in next couple of weeks.

I wonder what language people think he is speaking when he talks to the players, refs, opposition managers etc. You'd have to be a complete ****-wit to believe his English isn't decent, even from a far.

He's just a young lad with still lots to learn and it probably wasn't planned that he would be relied upon this season. Players can improve a great deal over a short space of time, something which our expert scouts regularly fail to understand.

Cortese made all the players say positive stuff about him and the club when he was here, everyone knows that.

I'd feel good about getting a lot of big decisions right along the way and ultimately delivering key goals earlier than expected. Others do as well though so you are right, criticism is fair but should it directed towards Cortese or those who paid him?
