We do need to get some really ugly players in though. Look at Leeds, they've got ugly players in abundence - shaven headed, tattooed, ugly thugs. We've got too many pretty boy players with way too much hair and no tattoos and who like to play proper football but unfortunately these are not the type of players needed to get out of this division. You need the ugly ones to grind out those last minute 1-0's away from home. Leeds have won a lot of games this season with very late goals. The football can come back in the CCC. Ugliness, shaven heads and tattoos is what we need.

Not MFI as they went bust quite some time ago. However, your point is well made and one does wonder why earth some of these organisations you mention have been sitting around with their fingers up their ars*s for quite so long. Metaphorically speaking, of course. Black, pot, kettle etc ??

Yes, actually. I'll have you know I'm a High Court Judge.

Yeah right, probably the Antarctic. That's a continent. -
Harry Redcrap has denied he's going there. In a statement to the press today, he said "I'll be b*ggered if I'm going there." At least that's what I think he meant.

You had to see it on TV to believe it. Not only the usual ****-hat but also chequered shorts and chequered clown shoes about 2 feet long (pun intended). As one of their own supporters said "his Coco the clown outfit". Indeed. Although I have to say how well spoken he was with a much better than average command of English than could reasonably be expected from a skate. Miracles do happen, I suppose.

No DB most definately NOT like them at all. I was thinking further back a bit - players like Mick Channon, Martin Chivers, Steve Williams, the Wallace brothers, Steve Moran, Nick Holmes and Le God and many others. More recently, Theo and Gareth. And not to forget we knicked Alan Shearer from under the noses of Newcastle. We used to produce these players in droves, why not again ? -

Agree with the above 4 or 5 posters. We could certainly attract some young talent from the Prem but on a loan basis only. CCC players maybe, but not current high profile players. Perhaps those on the fringes of their respective first teams and who would rather be playing regularly albeit at a lower level and probably the older ones at that. The best we could get would be the current very good L1 players from some of our oppos such as Barnard and Puncheon and Pitman from L2 AFCB but not Jackson who, frankly, is over-rated and over-priced. Ward, I think, will go elsewhere probably to another CCC club if he goes anywhere. Of course, I stand to be corrected but I feel it will be harder than we think to attract a higher level player to L1 without breaking the bank and presumably existing pay structure within the club. And we all know where that leads. The scouting network is going to become very important from now on, there are undiscovered gems out there and they can be unearthed. We used to do it on a regular basis in the past. -
Whilst Glagow Saint has opened a right can of worms with his controversial comments on Mellis I can see the point he was trying to make. If you cast your minds back a few years to when Defoe was on loan at AFCB he looked a class act, way too good for that division even at his young age, and it was obvious he was going to be a very good player. How many consecutive games did he score in ? I forget but was it around 15 ? It was always a big regret of mine that we didn't sign him when we had the chance and the combination of Defoe and Beattie would have done wonders for us.

**NEWSFLASH** From Fred Drainage on Meridian (so it must be true) Pompey have FAILED to pay their players today after all. It won't be long now.

Lucky old Leigh, give me her address and I'll give her another 8 - 10 inches..

That's no way to talk about your wife.....

I will grant you that Beckenbaur was able to play either position and, owing to the times, Bobby Moore was techically a wing half - left half actually - BUT in Sir Alf's wingless wonders of 1966 Bobby Moore was a CB in a back four comprising Ray Wilson, Jack Charlton, Bobby Moore and George Cohen and in a team that played 4 - 3 - 3. Bobby Moore was most definately NOT a midfielder. I never, ever saw him play in a midfield role.
-
Yeah but you and I are biased aren't we... By the way, have you a mate called Rob in Southampton who sells CD's part time ?
-
Cultured centre backs ? I'm struggling to get past Franz Beckenbaur and Bobby Moore, may he rest in peace. Now there were two cultured CB's. I don't think they exist here anymore. If only.
-
And as well as the reported lack of interest in their players (which could just be the vultures circling biding their time before the kill) there is the slight complication of many of their recent signings having now played for two clubs this season which under FIFA rules precludes any further transfers to a third club. So, QED, they are well and truly shafted on all fronts.

Blimey.....is that righted ? -
For what it's worth, I had an interesting chat this morning with a current employee at BHA who is involved at coaching level. He said that Dean Wilkins was a great coach at the club, was severely dumped on by **** Knight, and will be exceedingly good for us. He reckons the players have said themselves that they have gone backwards since Deano left hence their poor form of the past two seasons especially at home. He was also not surprised that Dean Hammond and Dan Harding were doing so well for us. I also told him I would seriously expect us to be runners up in this league behind Leeds and certainly in the play-offs. And no I am not delusional. So, all in all, should be good home win. BUT who remembers 1983, the year we finished runners up to Liverpool, Albion won 2-1 at The Dell in a surprise win. So let's not get too carried away.

Yeah, thanks I know now. But hey I'm 56 now - I couldn't even tell you what I did yesterday.......!!!
