We had Fraser sat on the bench who is capable of that, so is Edozie and Brooks (as Brooks has shown), but they are coached to within an inch of their life to just pass the ball backwards without any urgency. It's no coincidence to me how much Brooks has gone into his shell, at Bournemouth (as recently as their FA Cup game) he was positive, quick, direct - but now, with us, he's the opposite of all of that. We've overcoached him.
-
He did say that, and also that we were really, really good for most of that game. Nonsense.
-
Are you deaf? Why are you purposely ignoring what is in front of you? He said, and I quote, ''I was really, really pleased with most of that game'' ''The first half was a really high level'' - what is he on about?
-
No, just full of fans who can see the facts in front of them.
-
Not sure what the point of that is, stupid waste of money. We'll keep Martin and see what happens - but I think there will be a parting in the summer, not sure how he survives.
-
That interview has worried the fuck out of me. That's a manager who is not seeing the same game as the fans and when that happens...there is only one result.
-
Martin thought we were really good for most of that game. Quote that, he's just said it. He's clueless and deluded. He's lost his mind.
-
I think there is an element of that, but also....look at the teams we faced. We got into a run of momentum by playing Blackburn, Swansea, Wednesday etc at their worst. As soon as we started facing the better sides again it all went to shit - Hull, Ipswich, Leicester etc. Flat-track bullies is seemingly what we are.
-
You're on your own here I think. I'd trade the amount of goals we've scored to have conceded less. To let in over 60 goals and be a promotion candidate does not compute, it's not compatible.
-
Might as well try and sum up what we just watched. First half was horrific, terrible. We didn't lay a glove on them, way too passive, way too slow, whenever we got the ball we had no answer to their press, we panicked and gave the ball away. It was a non-event. Second half - congrats on the amazing 30 seconds at the start of the second half, they should get a trophy for that I guess. But other than that it was same old. We became passive again, too slow, didn't attack with any purpose - but the defending was on another level. It seems unfair to pin it all on Manning, but we conceded 4 goals on his side as soon as he came on. He was standing off Fatawu like he was allergic to him, Aribo didn't do himself any favours either as he just ponced around and didn't get tight to him. It was a general shit show. There was nothing positive about it at all. The fact we came out with the most possession should tell you all you need to know, it's propaganda nonsense. If you press us and rush us we will crumble. We concede too many goals to be a valid promotion candidate and I include the playoffs in that. I should be looking forward to the playoffs I guess, but I genuinely can't be arsed.
-
The style of play has bored the shit out of me If I'm honest, I've never felt as underwhelmed from a season as I have of this one. It shouldn't have been like this. We should have been better.
-
66. You have to go down to the relegation battle to find teams who have conceded more.
-
What are the positives of his appointment? He has failed on his targets to date, which was to win the league. Second target auto promotion. Failed both. Third target playoffs, likely to fail that too.
-
I don't buy this waffle. THB, Manning, Downes, Smallbone, Brooks, Fraser, Bree - they are pretty fresh to this club in terms of regularly playing, so any scar tissue bollocks is nonsense. This is Martin's team, martin's tactics and martin's coaching. It's all out there for everyone to see.
-
We have now conceded 66 goals. The team nearest to us who has conceded more (74) is Blackburn in 19th. With KWP, THB, Bednarak and Downes in and around the squad that is quite simply not good enough and demonstrates a pretty clear flaw in whatever approach he is trying to adopt here. It's failed. If we stick with him and inevitably lose our best players and goals in the summer, we will be involved in the bottom half of this league - not the top.
-
He is the worst left back we've ever had. If he doesn't have to defend and he can attack down the left he can be half useful and provides balance against the lesser sides, but as a defender at the top end of this league - useless, not even a debate. But I guess we'll have to get use to more Manning level players next year.
-
Different level in managers too.
-
I can only think he's another family member of the manager, akin to Jones family we had on here.
-
Are you defending tonight's shit show, or the Cardiff shit show, or the Millwall shit show? This season has not been good enough in any stretch.
-
They shouldn't be though, and that's why this season for me will always be the biggest load of underwhelming shit.
-
This is an absolute disgrace. They have been embarrassed by a team we should be on equal footing with, in both games. Not good enough in any position. But it's how we're coached that is so horrifically bad.
-
This team is simply shit. Waste of time even playing the playoffs, just end the season now.
-
Zombie football is how I'd describe it.
-
You think we've got a chance of getting to Wembley? Season feels like it's already over.
-
What an absolute load of horrific bullshit. Outclassed by a team many levels above us, seemingly. Not acceptable.
