  1. I think clubs need to just pay the going rate for this kid and stop trying to cheap out, it's not just his ability but he's such a good character. That's one of the main reasons he will go right to the top. There is no risk associated with signing him. Bristol City want £25-30m for Alex Scott, I don't think £50m is a ridiculous ask at all - he's probably worth more if we're honest, but relegation has harmed his peak value.
  2. Hasn't this always been a thing though, people not happy with their job on a Sunday evening/Monday morning? Is there a generation now making more out of this than need be? (as with everything else). Or does it translate to them being out of their depth and not able to do the job they're in?? A career is a means to an end really, but like others on here looking back I'd have probably done something different. I think it's important not to focus on the chase the most dollar, don't rush it thinking you need to earn x by year 2026 or whatever. First and foremost is to find a career you know you'll fit into and grow in, the money will usually follow after that - and at the end of the day, what's more important? Having tons of money, hating your job, and not having any time to do anything or see your family? Or somewhat enjoying your job and earning enough to live a comfortable lifestyle? I know what I'd choose tbh. No one has ever loved 'jobs' or loved working though, only a tiny, tiny select few ever get that dream job. In the main it is a means to an end - you just need to find the right fit for you so you can make the best out of it for yourself.
  3. Then he stays imo - think we're in a position to play this one on our terms given the contract situ. Salisu and Adams are slightly different, as I think we'd accept any 'reasonable' offers for those guys.
  4. If he had 1 year left, yeah - 15m. But his contract is up in 2025, so we should be aiming for the 20-25 mark in my eyes.
  5. You can't underestimate how critical an attribute it is to have been in the Swan Centre, or spent your lunch breaks sat on the bandstand in Eastleigh. You haven't lived.
  6. Once he stops tripping over his own feet, maybe.
  7. 'Knows the area' ''Young and therefore guaranteed to improve'' ''Comfortable in possession'' tick, tick tick.
  8. There have been absolutely no links around KWP which I think is odd, a real steady PL player - put him in a team with better players and he'd be comfortable at that level. I think he'd 100% improve Bournemouth given that their RB option is Adam Smith, ditto Sheffield United and Luton - but they're both skint so it seems that their promotion was a bit pointless. He'd even improve Palace or West Ham and become a starter imo - £20-25m would probably get him, not sure why you wouldn't go for someone like him at that price.
  9. I was hoping for either Giles or Manning as our LWB signing this summer, as I thought either would be an upgrade on Perraud - so I'm happy we've got Manning in, on a free too - no brainer really. Definitely sought after, even PL clubs sniffed around him as he progressed a lot last year. I always felt we were unballanced with Perraud in the side, even though he was committed enough and you could never fault his effort, I always felt he was pretty limited and often caught out - so this may even be an upgrade on him.
  10. He's a very good player at this level, could probably do it in the level above as well. A huge attacking threat down the left as a WB. Let's hope this isn't another John Halls situation! (i think that was his name)
  11. I personally thought he looked quite threatening at the start of the season, but his appearances became sporadic, we started to struggle and he never gained any real consistency. The miss against Lincoln in the Cup set him way back confidence wise I felt, he went well into his shell after that. I'd hope to see a lot more from him in a winning side who play on the front foot, and aren't so worried about what happens off the ball.
  12. Whoever you are, you're great fun. The sort of bonkers stuff that will help us all through a tedious summer!
  13. Follows the line of the many other ridiculous comments from Charlie!
  14. There's not a great deal of long-term thinking on the playing side if it happens, but this squad and dressing room as a whole is crying out for leadership and direction. Even if he doesn't play every week, his influence off of the pitch will be absolutely priceless. He was part of the best team I've ever supported and his amazing leadership was one of the reasons we did so well. I'm not looking at this as him being a 46 game a season guy, but his influence around the place in an environment full of kids is an obvious win for me.
  15. Napoli would be a good club for him, although I saw him wandering around Ocean Village on Saturday looking fairly happy - Giving up the delights of Banana Warf for the sights of the Naples coastline is going to be a really tough call for him.
  16. I'd still expect us to target young players, but I'd be pretty pissed if that is our single focus once again. We have be much more balanced in our approach in this window, I'm not against signing talented young players, but we need to make sure they're supplemented with 'quality' experience. (not just Theo/Moi experience). There was an admission that the club got the balance wrong in the summer so I'd be totally at a loss if we lose our heads on that one again.
  17. This is exactly it, and the bit of realism needed. I think we had 30 odd players at the end of last season, way too much. We can't go adding more whilst we haven't shifted some of the existing, a bloated squad in the PL is bad enough but financially totally unsustainable in the Championship. Leicester have lost half of their team, two CB's, two CM's etc - so they need reinforcements. Sadly the size of our squad is going to mean we miss out on some of the early options in the window, but we created that bed in January in a desperate attempt to stay up.
  18. I'm glad Fifa have shown some balls here, what Cardiff tried to do here was absolutely disgraceful. They've dragged this saga out for so long that they're now a piss poor Championship club, skint and now have this bill to pay. Karma bites and it bites hard.
  19. The club totally underestimated the impact of letting him leave. He's had a positive influence at Griona and for him I really hope he ends up at Barca, it would be fantastic to see him go full circle. Genuinely one of the good guys in football.
  20. Oh no probably not, but we weren't massively unfit - it was a combination of a confused style, and not being clever enough in conserving energy.
  21. A more considered approach focused on keeping the ball will automatically be better for fitness levels. I don't think we were ever particularly unfit, it is such a demanding style and to only have that in your locker for 38 games in a season was always going to cause burn out.
  22. As soon as Jones kept shooting ''Gooooood'' and then 'Romeo Done'', i think we all formed the exact same opinion pretty sharpish. Didn't need anything longer than a min to know he was an idiot.
  23. What does mix it up equate to? Just lump it long and hope for a knockdown? By all accounts he credits the work that went on with our pressing style, and seems keen to keep that, along with more ball possession. There's a lot of negativity around here by the idea of keeping the ball which I find a bit odd. Surely keeping the ball is better than running around trying to win it? For sure, there is keep ball for keep ball sake, but he's pretty clear it will be possession football with a purpose - and that's pretty much what wins football matches if that's how it transpires, certainly a bigger chance to win football games playing that way than relying solely on off the ball, or hit and hope. I thought he came across well, he's genuinely a likable guy and I think people will warm to him quite quickly. He's all about the 'family' and the culture and building a connection again, which I must say has been solely missing for many years at this club.
  24. What are you on about? No one is saying 'stop signing young players', you need a mix. We can't just focus on youth players. I hope this summer we don't!
