*IF* we can keep him fit, get him playing games and bring his confidence back - then he would tear this league apart IMO.

It's not really been ''saints style'' to make big signings in the past few years, last one was probably Skacel - but that was so drawn out that when it finally did happen, it was a bit of a let down. Lambert is different - best player in this division and we moved for him within a couple of days, no fannying around for weeks. Shows we mean serious business.

Can't see him coming IMO. He's the main man in Leicester's side and their captain, even if we agreed a fee - i doubt he'd come back.

I forgot that had brett there...hasn't made much of an impression though by the sounds of it.

yep - worth a try imo. Lambert is the sort of striker who can hopefully hold it up and with someone like adam playing just off him, it could be a good partnership.

Murty was v good, and surprised me with his bursts of pace. But i remember when he was at reading, he excelled with a natural right winger in front of him (Glen Little). Lloyd gives us balance there...but he's not going to give us the ability to get in behind teams defenses, which is what we're badly lacking atm.

I wouldn't play in in centre mid, i'd keep morgan and another in there but we could just play him behind the front man in the AMF role IMO. Just my 2 pence anyway.

Don't agree tbh. A pacey right-sided midfielder has to be one of our main targets. We need natural width in this team.

I'm sure we'll give it a good go. We'll have a successful season whatever way you look at it though. (i.e - we'll bloody well win a few games for a change) + if we don't' go up this year, next year we really may have a chance at ''Walking a league''

I can kind of feel for them - we've been in their position for years, losing our better players. It's great to be on the otherside though i must admit. But at the end of the day it's about ambition and money, and thankfully we have both right now.

I agree...but we didn't grab the opportunity then. Alot of really good players would have jumped at the chance to come here in 2005, but a combination of Harry ''i not really be bothered to be here'' redknapp, and Rupert lowe - we missed our chance.

Speaking of Skacel, has he actually found a club yet? For a player who always said ''he can play at the top level'' - there doesn't' seem to have been much interest?

Rasiak is on 10k iirc, but that is near on 18k apparently when you take into account goal bonuses/appearances. You can understand why Lowe wanted him off the wage bill tbf. GB did seem to like doing that...offering a hefty wage and then beefing it up even more with all these additional bonuses. Think you'll find this is a reason players like Euell etc didn't feature at the start of the season, even though they were fit. We just couldn't risk paying the bonuses!

Heard that we had offered him 10k p/w, so i guess that's true. TBH if rasiak is going (which i guess he will now) it's not any additional strain on the wage bill, I'd even suggest he may be cheaper in terms of goals/games bonuses.

I would hazard a guess that at the mo he's too busy - There's some more transfers to complete!

I think he will. By all means, i don't believe Lambert is the only ''big'' name we'll be signing in the next few weeks. Cortese mentioned ''a few exciting Surprises...'' 1 down...how many more to go?

If we get a box to box powerful midfielder next to him - then i completely agree. He can't boss games on his own yet, he needs someone next to him who can do that.

Got my tickets now...can't wait! It's weird feeling this positive at the moment, as we've had so many years of crap...but this club is finally on it's way back.
