  1. Going to where their careers will die. Sad really, both of those players are still of a good level and are useful in European leagues. Obviously they'll both be set for life and their families lives, but they signal the end of their proper football career by doing so.
  2. He's gone there because of the love they gave him though, honest.
  3. He was only ever signed as third choice though, not entirely sure why he took up the spot on the bench most of the season. Seems as if we'd have always called on McCarthy if needed. Those third choice keeper spots are proper cushy numbers. Scott Carson and Stuart Taylor have made an absolute fortune out of it.
  4. This never felt like something that made any sense, we're already stocked in his area. Hope he gets a move though.
  5. Cornet for Burnley was excellent, almost kept them up when he arrived in January - that's how you sign a player to impact in January. Very direct, very quick, strong - can score all sorts of goals. I remember him smashing in a couple against us for Burnley, at least one outside the box. Was handy on the day at St Mary's, their best player. I think he got a serious leg injury right at the start of his WHU career, and then got an infection on the back of an injury, there were real risks he'd have to lose his leg at one stage - so that's why he's been out for so long. Obviously WHU evolved on from him though, so he never really got the chance now he's back fit. A loan is a low risk try option in an area where we needed an extra bit of punch.
  6. Under the fake guise that it's to aid with fixture congestion. The same fixture congestion that isn't even a debate when these clubs fuck off to Australia for friendlies the week after the season has finished.
  7. It's a shame what's happened to Broja really, at the start of that 21/22 season with us he had the world at his feet. Looked unplayable, not just domestically but internationally he was scoring for Albania most games. Got to wonder if his career would have panned out differently had he signed for us, as we tried to do that in the January. He'll probably end up at a top half Championship team in the second half of the season.
  8. Yeah he was absolutley blowing out of his arse, same with SAA. Can't overplay these guys just yet.
  9. Awoniyi is still there. Absolutley skied his penalty last night, it's still in orbit.
  10. Forest have hijacked Ramsdale already, so we've put on a private jet to fly one of their current GK's down for a medical. #AnnounceMatzSels
  11. I would agree with that, he's always been a ball watcher and more of what I'd call a last ditch defender - normally because he's having to react after a player has got in front of him. Bednarek at PL level is somewhat similar, he does like to step out though and take a risk, Champ level not too dangerous but at this level it can be a killer - he tried that against Forest too and Elanga left him for dead. THB is more proactive in how he defends, although he had a pretty woeful day last weekend. (distribution wise he was awful)
  12. He has signed, we're just sorting out the paperwork for his subsequent loan to Gotzepe. Then it'll be announced.
  13. He can do that role, I've always thought he's better in advanced midfield off of the right. We do win our fair share of corners and free kicks too, so potentially JWP for his delivery alone is worth a fair few goals. It's a odd way of looking at it, but we could look at it as buying a specialist number 9 to score goals (we're shopping in the dregs now with very limited $$$), or we bring in a set piece specialist on loan to bring more out of what we have. (and he will add goals himself) I still think it's intriguing that the all but certain loan deal for Ramsdale is actually a perm. They're keeping that slot free for something.
  14. I can see why he'd go. We've got Suguwara, KWP, Taylor and Bree. Stephens and THB can also cover full back if rqd. Either Bree or Manning will go. I think the club were fully expecting KWP to go, which is why we acted pretty sensibly to bring in Suguwara early doors - but it looks like we'll have to fit both in. Not a bad position to be in.
  15. You mean he isn't gutted to be leaving the bestest and the dugouts??
  16. Yeah that's fair, I just wouldn't want a move for JWP to close any opportunities for positions I feel are more important. If we can still sort out the other positions and get a bonus JWP, I don't think anyone would moan. Lots of competition in CM then.
  17. I just don't know where he fits. It feels like we've moved on from him as a squad. If it's a choice between attacking reinforcements and JWP I'd almost certainly float to the attacking reinforcements.
  18. Southampton want back James Ward-Prowse back, West Ham's stance on move explained (hitc.com) More re-hashed stuff I think, feels like typical deadline day fuelled stories to me. Count me really surprised if he ends up here.
  19. Probably speculating, but some Brighton journos and fans are suggesting it's a really bad one and he's out for the season, maybe longer. What a crap stroke of luck that is. That's the lottery of any transfer though, but that Crawley player should be retrospectively banned for that tackle.
  20. £7m to Rangers I believe. I can't see either of those going though, certainly not Smallbone as Martin loves him (he's been given JWP's old number too). I don't see a gap for JWP, he'll probably end up at Forest.
  21. Apparently WHU aren't actively looking to sell him, but he has been told he's 3rd/4th choice behind Gudio (they brought him in on a free), Soucek and Alverez. So they're allowing JWP to explore opportunities as he's told them he wants to play, as the new manager doesn't see him as a first choice and maybe not even 2nd. I still don't believe we have any space or opening for him though, but the idea we've gone in for Ramsdale on a perm and leaving a loan slot free is intriguing.
  22. I think you could quite comfortably play Les and Downes together, with Fernandes in front in an Aribo/Stu Armstrong type role. Would make us immediately stronger. That midfield above works for me.
  23. Must be those shinpads, or lack of. But generally, the way he moves with the ball and how he drives forward is very Grealish in style. Looks a bit stronger though.
  24. We get two attempts to say a final farewell to the Goodison dugouts this season. We should thank ourselves lucky.
  25. Put Edozie to shame for me. Does things when he gets the ball, makes things happen. Edozie just kills the game when he gets it. Really big fan of SAA - good pickup by Joe Shields in his short time here.
