He's come on leaps and bounds over the last 18 months. A very talented English PL player now, will be attracting the attention of a lot around us. His appearances count at his age is utterly remarkable.

It will be extraordinarily unlikely given where we are now and who we have to play, but it doesn't take much to be sucked in out of no where. There are still some weaknesses in t his squad and it doesn't' take more than a couple of results to be sucked back into a rut, but if we're honest I think we have enough to get the 6 points need over the next 4 months. If we don't, then I don't think we'll be worrying about keeping Ralph....

Good touch, good awareness of those around him, good passing. A neat and tidy player really, unlucky with that deflected shot too - Reina was beaten all ends up with that!

It's a tricky one. Home games these days are a bit of a hostile environment, because it's been consistently 4 years of utter, utter, utter dross - with the odd random win sprinkled in there somewhere. It's impossible for this not to have influenced the fans. I still go, but there are 6 people I was with around me who no longer attend - people below me no longer attend. There's only so much money you can keep shelling out if you're getting the most substandard product, the prices haven't gone down in that time either. There is an element of apathy I feel - just an acceptance of our fate, I mean what can we do? We can't influence Kat or Gao, they've got their toy and they can just wave at us from up high whilst we hold banners up - but it would probably just create even more hostile environment for very little return. But the crux is that Gao needs to go before we can become a united club again, how that happens....no idea.

I think we've lost Boufal for a bit, Redmond is obviously out too. Stephens was heavily limping quite a bit I noticed, and so was Long at some stages - but everyone else seemed ok. But we don't have a deep squad with enough quality, so we will be hit by injuries and they will hit our form. This is why January shouldn't have been ignored as it was. Oh sorry, we did buy someone! But we had to let someone go first....

We're at home, so we probably won't win. No idea why I'm going, but i will be there.

At the end of the day we're a side with a few decent players in it, not amazing players, just decent players. We still have huge gaps in quality throughout the side and it will keep getting exposed season upon season, unless we address it. The club rested on their hands in January ‘’Oh a good run, it means we’re fine’’ – worryingly the professionals running our club didn’t have the foresight to see that this was just a run, we still had the same fundamental core issues! I think this is Boufals last season here – another expensive flop. Not fit for this level I don’t think, flatters 90% of the time. Talented, yes, but not suited for us or this league. Reminds me of Adal Tarrabat Our home form is utterly disgusting though, something needs to be done about that. And I don't think playing Vestagaard is a decent fix for that. Horrific football player.

He's an interesting player is Long. If you had someone of his running/nuisance and added finishing ability to the mix, you'd have a top level world class forward. As it stands, he's quick...he causes problems, but you wouldn't want him as your sole goal source....as he can't and won't ever really score many goals. He is a pretty shocking finisher to be honest, like one of the worst we've had, but you can't fault his work rate.

Andy Durham gets what he wants every time, he's a troll! He's just there to wind up fans, get them texting/phoning in to have a debate. It's all part of his game.
-
Yeah, that's what I'm getting at. Conceding three goals wherever is going to mean a defeat most of the time! Just need more players who can score goals, Redmond needs more this year and we need the same from midfield.
-
How annoying. Typical plucky underdog performance, just not enough quality unfortunately. That's the true reality
-
I think everyone felt it would allow clubs to focus on the games, once the season had started. But the reality is that unless all the other top leagues come into line, it's pointless. And seeing as the top leagues didn't come in line, it doesn't surprise me that we'll be back to the normal summer window.
-
JWP has been really lucky with injuries to be fair over the course of his career, but that looked a bad one just by the reactions. Could be a long road back, it's incredibly frustrating given he's just in the best spell for us as well. What a knock back for everyone! Our team will feel different without him, he's been the driving force these last few months. He was certainly on course for a euros place I reckon! Sucks.
-
It's numbers though, what are we left with? I didn't really class him as 4th choice, easily above Vestergaard for me anyway. We needed to strengthen defense this window, Ralph said as much. All we've done is flaming weakening it in experience and numbers. I'm bemused by it all really.
-
Now Gao can pay an extra bit more off that loan. Honestly, the guy is draining this club. I've never despised someone as much as i despise him.
-
Awesome. Way to go Southampton, a window we needed to strengthen at the back has lead to us weakening ourselves at the back. Yoshida, whilst not amazing, was a very useful option to have around. Yes, he was out of contract, but why on earth are we not adding before letting such a valuable option leave.
-
If it happens, I imagine it's just someone for the development/U23 teams.
-
"This is our way, this is our philosophy", Hasenhuttl said about swapping the Portuguese full-back for Kyle Walker-Peters. "For the club and for him it is for the best."

Spurs interested in PEH according to SSN
S-Clarke replied to Behind Enemy Lines's topic in The Saints
It shouldn't happen, but when you have an owner without a pot to **** in, there's always a chance this will go through unfortuntley - and without replacements. I don't want to see it, but i can see it happening. -
#playerleaves-automaticallybecomesworsteversaintsplayer To be fair, he wasn't great and I've never been a huge fan - but he's still better than what we have at RB. We'll lose a lot of experience with him going.
-
Would make sense for him to go, he doesn't play here and he's not really that good. I guess this puts an end to any Vestergaard to Leicester deal.
-
Ralph did say we didn't address that problem in the summer, and we needed to address it in this window. We're going to end this window the same, with less experience in full back. The only saving grace I guess is that KWP can play right or left back, but then anyway...we've just lost our starting right back so he's primarily going to be there.
-
Sheff U close to signing Sander Berge for £28m They've not had to sell anyone either
-
It's just how you look at it - just look at how we've dealt over the last couple of years. We couldn't get Che in before we sold Targett for example, there has been a general increasing theme that we HAVE to sell or move on before we can obtain anyone new. We wouldn't have brought in KWP had Cedric's move not materialised, I'm sure of it. Even though we could have done with KWP anyway. It could be the wage bill that's holding us back, I don’t know, but the general theme at this club over the past 2/3 years is that we must sell and generate cash before we can go and add to the squad. That puts us on the back foot every window. Maybe we're clearing the wage bill and holding back on spending so we can have a blitz in the summer.... but who thinks that is likely with this shamble’s ownership? I don't. It'll likely be the same as previous windows, sell before we can buy. We'll probably sell someone unexpected to fund a move for someone.
-
Anything can happen, although very unlikley. Liverpool look a bit jaded at the mo, bit tired, griding out results rather than blitzing as they have been. We've got them at the right time in sense of tiredness I think...just before their 'break' - and they have to lose at somepoint, this season or next season...someone will have to beat them. If we put them under pressure and scare them with our running in the final third, then who knows. Not expecting a single dot of anything, but there's nothing wrong with a tiny bit of hope at the unlikley.
