  1. Unlucky, but funny. They'll never get this close again, they'll never have a season this good again. Wouldn’t be surprised if they struggle to pick themselves up next season after this, whatever they say it will feel like an absolute gut wrench. 97 points, +57 gd, and one defeat all season, but nothing to show for it. Couldn't have happened to a better bunch.
  2. Good season from Redmond, easily deserving of the accolade. Hope he keeps it up next year and goes a step further. I'd love another Redmond type player on the other side though, could make all the difference to us.
  3. There was nothing positive in what I saw today, one of the worst displays of the season. If that's the standard, then we'll be following Huddersfield. Defence for me is where the big problems are. Yoshida is a decent squad player, but play him regular and you do leak goals. Bednerak is decent, but needs better and more mobile players around him. I'd say we need a RB, and at least one, if not two quick/powerful CB's in the summer who are suited to this league. Long is just average, has a purple patch every couple of years, but we need to be tough on guys like him. Is he really good enough? Sadly, for all his running and effort, his quality is very poor. Ings needs to step up very, very quickly for me - really want to like him, but I'm finding it very hard to enjoy his displays - if we didn't have an obligation to buy him I'd hand him back to Liverpool in the morning.
  4. Thank god it's over. That's all I can say. Get rid of the majority and start again, it's the only way to fix it. Sadly, we will struggle to get anyone to take them as they're so bad and paid so much! God, what a mess.
  5. Honestly, one of the worst end of season games I've ever had to endure. Endure is the key word here. Drab, slow, pedestrian, low on any sort of quality. We were against one of the worst sides the PL has ever seen, no qualms about it, yet we both looked destined to be at the same level. A really, really flat and depressing end of the season. We have a weird mixture of players, a couple who are fairly consistent and reliable, a fair few who have purple patches throughout a season and then go missing for the rest, and even more who are just basically crap. Renewing is still up in the air for me, I have no idea really. I was going to use today as a way to help convince me and give me something to look forward to, but I find myself coming away from that thinking what on earth is the point? That wasn't entertainment, not sure I’d want to spend any of my hard earned on that. As much as Ralph says we need additions, and I trust we will add, I just don't trust the team who will be making the calls. They shouldn't be anywhere near this club after what they've done with our fortune of the last 2/3 windows, absolutely nowhere near. But we just have to suck that up unfortunately. As well as the dross they have recruited, think of some of the near misses. Mbenza at Huddersfield, Jahanbakhsh at Brighton - both high targets for us at the start of last season. I hope, and this is the only slight saving grace in my mind, is that Ralph will have some serious input in who we recruit, because without question he can probably do a better job. All in all another absolutely dire season, saved by a really good manager who managed to galvanise this complete rabble. Now we just need to see what surgery can be performed on this side over the summer, sadly I feel we will fail to shift as many as we need to, which will undoubtedly handcuff us in who we can bring in
  6. It doesn't really benefit us though does it these days, we're down in the doldrums losing most weeks and battling relegation consecutive years. All it confirms is that we used to be well run and used to have a really good scouting setup, now days though it’s just a horror show with Ross running the show (it has been since he’s come in to be fair)
  7. Very sad, he was a really good poster on here. RIP.
  8. He's never going to adapt, he is out of his depth and has no attributes of any positive nature for this level. He needs to go, it will only be a loan as we are probably paying him a fortune and no one will take him off us full time, but he's no good to us at all. Cheerio.
  9. I kepe hearing people saying 'Liverpool winning is better, it shows it's not about money''. Like, hold up. 2 seconds. Virgil - £75m. Alison. £50m. Two records set for two positions. Keita - £50m, Fabinho - £45m. - Two of the most expensive central midfield signings this season. They got some good 'Bargains' up front in Salah, Mane and Firimino - but these guys were still above £35m. They haven't done this cheap, they've spent an absolutle fortune. That's why they're there.
  10. He is honestly rubbish, just look at our record when he plays. It says it all. Disgusting centre back for any team aiming to be decent.
  11. He is already ours. Thank Ross for this one, as per. More millions down the ****er, he looks ****ed.
  12. This game was a showcase on why Ross Wilson shouldn’t be anywhere near this club. Ely, Lemina, Ings, Armstrong. I have no confidence in next season as he will kill us.
  13. His most positive cotnributes have come when he's played in a front 3, from the right, alongisde Redmond and Long/Ings. Slightly deeper than Redmond, but he hasn't been playing as a pure CM for us.
  14. Any match-day ticket above £60 is just thieving money really. Disgusting.
  15. If he's their Eriksen replacement, or their scouts are even considering that, then Spurs are in trouble.
  16. I think as a club we need to accept our position as a showcase club. We will be seen as a pathway to some top managers and players before they make their move further up the pyramid. Very similar to how Monaco, Dortmund, Ajax and the likes work - not full of money, they pick talent well and coach it well and put it on a stage where it can flourish and be sold on for big money. It's a sad cycle in that sense, but it's the only way to operate on the top table without a sugar daddy. You need to be on the ball and be ready to react to a big sale with the next big talent. We can't expect to keep success stories, and neither will any of the other clubs. We did it well for a couple of years, to a certain extend luck does come into it, but I feel we have lost our way scouting and recruitment wise, lost our way as a club with no real identity as to how we want to play. We tried to be clever and save money, not raising our transfer fees with the general rise across all football – so we attract lesser quality. To cut a long story short, scouting and recruitment is absolutely critical for a club like us. A couple of seasons of shoddy recruitment and players of lower talent and poor personalities will leave us where we have been. Ross Wilson and Les were the main guilty parties for the mess of the last couple of seasons, but somehow Ross has earned a promotion. I guess I'll have to give him the benefit of doubt, but personally I hope Ralph calls the shots and uses the wider scouting network - not just at our club. I hope the club have learned from the mistakes of the last couple of years and we buy players which fit an actual philosophy and a way the coach wants us to play. I have a feeling that Ralph may be key in getting this back on track, he just needs to be trusted and backed. That's my only fear.
  17. But it did suit him, he was one of the most creative players in the league on a regular basis! Brushing shoulders with De Bruyne and the likes with chances created, so many assists for us. He was a success, he was just mis managed by Puel and Pellegrino in a turgid and boring team. Put him in a dymanic team with pace and he's a key part, as we saw when he was in Koemans side with Pelle and Mane etc. Top player for us, certainly didn't fail in the PL and certainly wasn't a reject. I think we let him go as he made it clear he wanted to go, and Ajax was his only choice. A lot of clubs are probably looking now at his form and wondering why they didn't grab him, but he deserves what he's getting now - so let him enjoy it, but also needs respect for what he did here.
  18. I think we'll finish above Brighton no matter what given their remaining games, but we'll need at least 4 points to hop above Burnley. Two wins to have a chance of doing anything else, which I don't think we'll do - West Ham are a good side, if Stephens starts then we've already conceeded goals. We'll probably stay in 16th.
  19. To be fair, Saturday highlighted our problems. Sure, he can finish now and then...but he won't get the goals required to maintain a decent placing. Look at the open goal he scuffed for example, this is just trademark Long. Thus we didn't win the game. (Well, one of the reasons why we didn't) Good for 5-8 goals a year if played in a decent side and confident, but could easily go an entire season without a goal (as we've seen). Really think we should focus on getting better in the summer, he's a likeable guy, but not really good enough if we're brutally honest.
  20. So it's just a little wish list from your latest football manager, full of random unknowns and a couple of pointlessly unrealstic options, just on there in case - out of a random situation, they become avaliable. Sule, i mean ffs.
  21. Funnilly enough, this is where he played for Burnley in the Championship (when Austen was there) and also where he played for Bournemouth - never an out and out forward.
  22. I just hope Ralph is stronger than our previous management, if you let Ross take control and start making the transfers then you're ****ed. Basically. I'm sure Ralph has some good contacts, so let him recommend the players, let his contacts scout, and let Ross just play tiddly winks or something.
  23. He's done pathetic stuff like that before. Really don't rate him, doesn't offer a thing. He was in a team beaten by Kazakhstan, so that really says it all
