He was absolute tosh, really struggled with the pace. Didn't get forward enough, poor on the ball. One of our weak links.
-
At the end of the day - Austin or Long, what was the difference? Both are crap and not of the right standard. Long runs around a bit and has some pace, so that gave him the nod I'd expect. That's about all he has though.
-
Maybe we can return and claim damaged goods or something? He is so not suited to this league, in fact he's seemingly not suited to playing football of any standard.
-
He was back to his worst today. This is why he's with us and not anywhere else.
-
How many new managers is it going to take some people to realise that the problems are deeper than that? Wakey wakey.
-
Nah, he grates on me. Stupid phrases, stupid interviews, stupid comments. If he mentions 'space' 'roster' or 'growth oppertunity' again, I will scream. He is the expert of saying loads without actually saying anything (just annoying americanisms, which mean nothing and are just PR managed words)

Callum Slattery - Official: Signs for Motherwell

I really like him, looks like he's got something about him in my eyes. Probably the next 'big one' to emerge, in my opinion. Glad he's being given a chance. -
I know what you are saying, but it's worth noting that over those years the revenue we make from TV/Prize money has also gone up. Our spending isn't increasing with the trend, and we do need to sell before we can outlay anything. Basically, those numbers above show that we've received about £104m in players and have spent £111m out on new - so that's only around £10m being spent which isn't being pulled in from sales. I know that's a very simplistic way of looking at it, and obviously you need to consider wages and the way transfer deals are structured etc, but we don't seem to have any disposable income for players unless we sell big first.

I think the key part of the summer is how quickly we can shift the likes of Cedric, Hoedt, Boufal, Carrillo on permanent deals. (maybe even Forster). Given how Boufal and Carrillo have been doing over in Spain, I think the chances of us getting a fee from their current clubs is slim, so they'll be back with us. I don't think the Cedric move is with an obligation to buy, so there's every chance he will be returned as well. Then we have the very big problem which is Fraser....absolutely no idea what's happening with him, but we're ****ing money away with him on the books. I think we've made a start in trimming the squad in this window, but my frustration is that it's primarily been loan deals - so we could be in the same position come the summer with an overloaded squad and players we don't want but no one else does either. Thus, again, restricting what we can do.
-
The only conclusion I can get to, regarding our performance in recent transfer windows, is that we are broke. We've been saddled with poor buys over previous windows which has left us in a position where we have a bloated squad, lots of overpaid expensive signings out on loan and highly paid players not performing. We need to sell before we can free up cash to buy. We're not a rich club and the way we've used our 'fortune' over the recent windows from our selling has been disastrous and we can see the impact that's having now. Until we can get the likes of Boufal, Carrillo, Hoedt, Cedric, Forster, Austin off our books for good, then we will continue to be hand tied in terms of what we can do. Yeah, we're probably penny pinching, but we've put ourselves into that situation by wasting so much valuable funds over the last 2/3 years. Congratulations Les and Ross, I'm staggered Ross is still in a job to be honest. He should be wholly accountable as to why we're in this position financially.
-
I think it would be different nowdays to be honest. Lallana, Lambert, Morgan. All off if we had a sniff of money.
-
Pretty sure it was a perm now. That's what was advertised on our OS and Sampdoria anyway.
-
Feel for Cardiff, in that they'd resolved their striker position by splashing £15m on one. But no one would have imagined how that would turn out. So they're a bit stuck now. Really weird situation.

Hesketh and Flannigan join Burton Albion on loan

To be fair he's another lad we should just let go, he needs to forge his career elsewhere. It won't be here. -
I just don't think we performed well enough over the 90, but obviously I'll take the point as a positive! Palace will feel hard done by in my opinion, they could have won that.

It really was a poor show, we looked lethargic and half asleep for the majority of that game. Very penetration in attack going on, Redmond very quiet and ineffective and Ings just moping around not doing a great deal. Midfield got over run, Hoj had a poor game I felt. Valery was OK, but still got beaten a couple of times. Vesterguard looks great in some moments but then scares the life out of me in others, he had a mixed game. Best player - again - was Jan. Beast of a defender, body on the line, blocking everything. Basically, we didn't deserve to get anything from that game but somehow, we snuck an equaliser. Good finish from JWP I thought, who didn't have the best of games generally. Draws in games like this is a step forward I feel. We'd have lost this previously, but there's just a little bit more grit running through this side now. Given the performance it's a very positive point.

He really is dreadful. Not holding out much hope for a change as he doesn't have any real attributes.
-
You really do come across as a child.
-
You've just been wummed....
-
He's just earning too much money. I can't see any club wanting to pay 60k+ in wages for someone who hasn't set foot on a football field in 18 months or so? Plus he had a year out prior to that with a very bad injury. We've pushed ourselves into a corner with the huge salary we gave him and anyone in their right mind isn't going to say ''Don't worry, let me play for free'' when he still has 3/4 years remaining. So, well done Les. His career at the top level is probably over and we're out of pocket for millions.
-
Pretty weird situation to be honest, you hope that the passengers are found safe and well (think there were only 2 or 3 on there?) but let's be honest the chances of that are pretty slim now.
-
The fact he thinks he did well here says it all, too high an opinion of himself and a complete berk. He played 50 games in a row, maybe, but we lost most of them. No surprise we're better now he's out of the team. Good riddence to bad rubbish. The most uncomfortable looking defender i've ever had to watch.
-
He's just a mentalist.
-
He's a ******** on the line kind of defender, just throws himself in front of anything and everything. I thought he did a good job at the back end of last year, so I had no idea why he was excluded at the start of this season. I mean Hoedt, over him? Come on. Probably our best Centre Back to be honest - although Vesterguard is improving and looking more comfortable as we go.....still think we could do with some genuine pace and power in the back line though.
