Sky Sports - No 'top' players leaving Southampton this summer.
S-Clarke replied to Lallana's Left Peg's topic in The Saints
Well, they try. -
He would cost £35m+. Which is why we're going for the Sassulo striker. Much more value.
-
I think they're playing on the angle that he was the VVD replacement when he was injured...

But it's not just the pull of the Champions League. It's getting the opportunity to run and hug Klopp. That's what any player dreams of. -

I bet Les gets all warm and fuzzy inside now he's able to say 'Mauricio' again! -
Because he's a WUM.

As predicted....didn't think it would be that quick though. -
I'd say Arnold is already above our station, he's got the likes of Arsenal/Barca watching him. Quality player. Will leave Wolfsburg for a big club sooner rather than later.
-
Sill not particularly hilariously high. Standard price for a PL international, but due to his age I'd want more if we were going to sell.

Yeah, pretty sure he'd be included in that statement. Hopefully. I don't see where he's going to end up anyway, not many clubs available for him south of london (given the work he's just done on his Surrey place, not sure he'd want to ditch that to move north) -

Also, does anyone get the feeling we're slowly building towards a Les Reed interview? Little bit later this year.... -
Why the hell did Puel come in and compare Redmond to Henry? that totally threw him and us as fans - in my opinion. It's given us all ****ty expectations of someone who is a decent player, but isn't 'henry'. Reminds me of the days when Jan Portwhatisname can in and said BWP is our Torres, Ryan Smith is our Robben etc. Glad he's gone with all that jibberish.

Depends if we get £75m for VVD.....but yeah, that's unlikely. So they'll all need to knuckle down and carry on in the horrendous boot camp which is Southampton football club. I feel for them. -
£15m is hilariously high? I think he's an excellent player, he came on leaps and bounds last year and is now a regular Portugal international. Lucky to have him.
-
Not sure anyone is kidding themselves? I think there's an element of satisfaction when you can get a player for 10m and they become a star. Signing players for huge sums doesn't always work. It may look exciting to the fans, for some reason, but for a club of our size - looking at gems in the 10-15m bracket is the absolute spot on strategy.
-
Always been a huge fan of Jay, was chuffed when we signed him. But he's lost something since those injuries. He struggled to make an impact under Koeman and similarly Puel. He may well go and score a few goals at WBA if he has a run in the side, but from where he was pre-2014 world cup, he's not getting back to that level. He'll be a decent PL player I'm sure, but we already have a couple of those in Long and Austin. It was great fun when he was in tandem with Lambert and Lallana, but that's never going to happen again. I think we're going to end up being the club who saw the best of him at this level to be honest.

West Brom are closing in on Southampton striker Jay Rodriguez, according to the Express and Star. The 27-year-old striker has been blighted by injury problems in recent years, but could move for up to £12m. --------- Would then explain why we are pushing ahead with the deal for the Sassauo lad.

West Ham have a 'way'?
-
Are they going for the 'many' approach to replace the 'single' Lukaku? When we had our mass sales 3 years ago, we kind of replaced like for like pretty well. Pelle for Lambert, Tadic for Lallana, Bertrand for Shaw, Toby for Lovren etc. And it worked pretty well for us. When clubs go down the route of stock piling lots of players to bulk up the squad on the back of a huge windfall (similar to Tottenham with Bale/Liverpool with Suarez) it very rarely works.....
-
Bit odd how West Ham didn't tie that one up. Another striker who got away? He'll be a decent player I reckon, seen a bit of him, but I think we're well stocked in that area.
