Defensively a mess, but exciting to watch! Got a feeling that this game kills Norwich.

I don't think I've ever seen Moreno defend.

VIDEO: Fraser Forster's recovery - (31 min doc)
S-Clarke replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Jay had a massive set back, he was getting close and then got an infection in the knee - that just reset the entire process pretty much. Now he's got a foot problem, which is more than likely due to stresses he hasn't had for over a year. -
Watford is a brave call Trousers! They have turned a bit rubbish, but I think they've got too many points on the board already. They probably only need another 2 wins and a few draws. I think Norwich will go, ditto Villa....third spot for me will be between Bournemouth and Sunderland.

Papa was awesome, he wasn't up to much ability wise, but was a good laugh at L1 level. He was always offside..!!

I wouldn't say Matt's career ever did get back on track to be honest. Yeah, he still played, but at a much, much lower level than he was at prior to his injury. There are lots of former Saints out there, they're littered all over the football league to be honest. Lee Holmes never did quite become Robben though!

I'm guessing that's why you get basic wage, and then add ons for apperances, goals etc. So I would imagine the total sum of Gaston's contract, including all the clauses, would have been a meaty amount - but his basic wage without any clauses was probably modest.

I pay more attention to what my dog says, and he doesn't speak.

Also can't understand why they said they'll stick with Alan Curtis for the rest of the season, yet have just appointed a new head coach to work alongside him. (quite clearly the new guy is the new manager). http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/35339215 I've always admired Swansea, I see them in the same way as ourselves in trying to do things, but they've dropped some uncharacteristic clangers this season.

I cannot name a player who has left us in the last 3 seasons and gone on to be a success.

Can't see him being on that much tbh.

Lallana is being ripped a new one over on RAWK. They've had it with him.

I'd cringe if he was our chairman, he is so unprofessional. And to that his kid spouting off, christ, what a dream team that is.

Ings has a long-term ACL injury.

Stephens is back, we've got Gardos back in a few weeks. More than stocked in that area.

I like Long, don't get me wrong, but a fee like that would be ridiculous and to make a profit on what we paid is probably beyond the clubs wildest dreams - which is why I'd say it's a no brainier. In terms of replacing him......I'd use the unexpected windfall as an opportunity to evolve the attacking element of our side. I'd look for a player who can play as a striker, but can also operate in the 2 flank positions. Seemingly El Sharrary (Milan) is available, Ziyech from Twente.

His scoring record is simply immense. 226 goals in 366 games over his entire career so far (inc. non league). Appearance record doesn't look bad in all honesty, think a lot has been made of his injury record.

Personally, if Liverpool came with an offer up to £15-18m, then we'd be nuts to say no. And given their history of overpaying for players, I wouldn't put it past them. He is in great form for us right now though and he is showing us exactly why he's a thorn in so many sides. But if they offered silly money, it would make good financial sense for us I'd think. Liverpool do need to drop this obsession with our players though, it's becoming a little odd.

James Ward-Prowse's list of indisputable, unimprovable weaknesses
S-Clarke replied to ScepticalStan's topic in The Saints
That freekick goal has been a long time coming. Terrific goal. His general game still needs to improve though, he's far too weak at times and made some sloppy passes. I'm pleased for him though and he really does have all the tools to be a top level player, just hope we can get some real consistency out of him and he can start to hold down a position. -
He has been damn impressive in these last 2 games.

It was very much a case of where we left off after the Watford game, albeit West Brom provided a tiny bit more of a game. Lots of pressing, lots of clever movement, good shape and a good balance. The tactical shape seems to work really well at the moment, it makes us very hard to break down and we have the numbers to flood the flanks when we need to, so we're very hard to get at. I must admit, I was a bit disappointed to see Victor straight back in the team today, but he was back to the Wanyama of old. As other's have said, if he keeps it simple, he is the most effective player of his position in the league. Long has taken this prolonged run in the team with both hands, he is in terrific form right now. He's always offered an outlet, runs the channels and generally is a pest. Once he gets a run and his confidence increases, you can see the bit of quality he has to his game as well - some of his control and hold up play was excellent. Mane was ok...but does seem slightly off the boil at the moment. Special mention for Cedric who I think was terrific. Seems a hell of a lot stronger then he was at the start, very tenacious in his winning of the ball and is now starting to provide a real quality outlet down the flank. Also a mention for Targett, who has come into his own these last few games, the position he's playing seems to work for him - and us as a team. He seems to have a bit more confidence to run and take players on, and his delivery isn't bad at all. Overall, 2 massive wins which now paints this season in an entirely different colour. The Austin signing is just the cherry on top, the 2nd half of this season could be fun.

I remember a few huge threads back in our L1 days, when he was signing...but ended up not signing. I think he's been a long, long term club target - and after his amazing season last year in goal scoring terms, we probably felt he'd edged away from us in terms of finances and reputation....but no one took a gamble last summer (even after the big clubs were seemingly sniffing) and we've got ourselves a player for £4m, at 26 years old, who is in and around the England setup. Best deal we've done since I can remember. Scored shed loads at Poole, scored shed loads at Swindon, scored shed loads at Burnley and then scored shed loads at QPR. He is just guaranteed goals, no argument.
