  1. Thought he would have been on more than that actually, but I thought he'd fallen out of favour there. Has he ever been first choice at PSG? Can't remember him pulling up too many trees there.
  2. He's on mega money at PSG. Think that puts him out of our ball park.
  3. Maybe not direct assists, but his movement/quality down the right in attacks has lead to lots of goals for us in the last couple of years. But I agree with Trippier, I do like him. Full of energy, pace, epic delivery. Only part I'm not so sure about in him is defensively, but given that we wanted to sign him with Jay Rod 3 seasons ago, then I'm sure we've still got him on our 'list'. Based on our transfer policy over the last 4/t years, he ticks pretty much every box. Les Reed has his number I'm sure!
  4. The terry inclusion was a WTF moment - esp. when he said the reason for putting terry in his team was because he nearly scored. He was actually all at sea most of the game. That weekly team of the week thing is just a joke article really. He is just a joke of a bloke, irritates the hell out of me.
  5. Seriously, how in gods name have Swansea not scored?
  6. Swansea have been absolutely fantastic, Liverpool have been woeful. But Swansea just haven't taken advantage...surely L'Pool can't be this horrific all game?
  7. The 5-1 a few years prior to that, in our PL relegation season I think, was another depressing day. They were a bloody nightmare side for us for about 5 years.
  8. I wouldn't begrudge Ronald a move to Barca, I think he see's them as 'his' club, so it's a natural fit a few years down the line - not yet though, and he gets that. He's an honourable person and he will stick to what he said - he will finish his contract here, he's very bullish on that. And if he finishes his contract with us still pushing for top 4, then he deserves a crack at a huge club if it's available. MP was never committed long-term, he was only here for the chairman as he repeatedly said. He never quashed speculation or committed his future, he was sniffing for a new club for a good 50% of last season.
  9. That was such a depressing game. We were so, so crap back then. I mean look at the lineup from that game: Davis, James (Thomson 65), Lancashire, Cork, Mills, Smith (Pekhart 83), Lallana, Wotton, McGoldrick, Robertson, Surman. Subs Not Used: Bialkowski, Perry, Gillett. How low we sunk. That is a stinker of a team, bar a couple of obvious decent shining lights.
  10. If he had all the qualities everyone wanted, he.would.not.be.here. End of story. Enjoy what you have, stop wishing for more.
  11. Huge gamble. Not sure what sort of reaction they expect, and how many games will a new manager have anyway? As said above, the club is rotten to the core. Every manager they have seems to fail there, and there becomes a point where you have to look beyond the manager....the club needs to fall down to L1 like us, be stripped bare and started again.
  12. Good old nige. Hope he gets a good job soon.
  13. We've been massively spoilt in the last 5 years with Rickie, an exquisite penalty taker. I'd suggest that we won't get one as good as that for a while, so don't heap too much pressure on Tadic. He scored it at the end of the day! A goal is a goal, scuffed, scrambled, shouldered in or whatever. As long as it's the back of the net and it gets us a result I couldn't care less.
  14. Yeah, what the hell is that about. He well and truly bottled that one, and I'm not sure why. He went to his pocket...and then took his hand away. Why do that? Go with your gut instinct, don't be influenced by the mass of players - or in this case, the lack of players appealing. Jose knew, as he was subbed pretty much after that. Showed him to be quite weak as a ref.

    Shane Long

How many times has he played as the lone striker though? I'd suggest he'd have a lot more goals if he played there more this year, but most of the time he's played wide of Pelle in a supporting role or hasn't even played at all! He's not had huge opportunities to regularly score goals, but when he's played he's always added a little bit extra and I've got no problem with that.
  16. Let's be honest, they're a very limited side in terms of ability - but they play with a high tempo, a desire and a passion - that bridges the ability gap as we saw at City. They'll do the same against us. They're not the sort of side who can sit back and defend with 2 banks of 4, they like to attack and they have the perfect focal points up top to cause problems. But if we frustrate them and retain the ball we will create chances and hopefully we're a bit more clinical! This is the ideal home game to have on the back of a terrific draw. Arsenal are away at Newcastle and Utd and L'Pool play each other on the Sunday. So come this time next week, we could well be right back deep in the mix. We'll take this right to the death, but I'll say that Top 7 looks pretty much done whatever the outcomes.
  17. I don't like how this is all going to be honest. Something has gone wrong big style in the last few months, as he was pretty close at the back end of the year. In fact, he'd targeted the Burnley game (away) as a come back game! ACL injuries aren't the career enders they once were, but if you don't get the job done right first time then it will forever be a problem - and I just hope that that's not the case, as he's such a top player with bags of potential.
  18. This is exactly it. We're not going to sign complete players, we're going to sign players who have potential but are a little jagged around the edges. Players that can become 'big players' but are too much of a gamble for the big clubs right now. Mane is another perfect example of this. If Forster didn't have the little flaws that people keep bringing up then he wouldn't be here. He'd be at a big club and would probably be England's number 1.

    Shane Long

He's the sort of striker that is so suited to how we play, and even last season. High pressing from the front, chasing lost causes, working the channels. He's perfect for it. I'm sure that's why he was short-listed and why he was on our radar last year as well. In many ways, he's a less prolific version of Jay Rodriguez - which I'm sure the club had in mind when they recruited. He may not score many goals, but I don't believe the club bought him for just goals. They bought him for his all round game which is so much more than just goals, as we saw yesterday and have seen at other occasions this year. It's good to have a powerful striker like Pelle, but I do think our actual game is much more suited when we have willing runners from the front who can stretch sides.

    Ward prowse

This is like a yearly thing. Have a look at the posts from previous years at around the same time and you'll see the same thing. He starts the seasons well, gets a place in the side and keeps it. He gets a few knocks and niggles around Christmas time, gets back but then struggles to get to grips with the game and plays with a bit of tiredness. He then looses his place in the team and everyone says he's not good enough. Technically he is fine, he's not an awful player and he hasn't had a horror year what so ever. But when the going gets tough and the games ramp up, he struggles. He needs to bulk himself up a bit, show a bit more desire to snap into tackles. He's a little too weak. But it does seem odd that we must always have someone to criticise. We're 6th in the league, if I'm honest I don't think any of our players deserve criticising to be honest.
  21. I think he's struggled with the expectation and pressure this year, he shows it in odd ways. Like the odd spat with the player a few weeks ago for one, and the club have dealt with it oddly as well given the sacking and unsacking. He's had an odd year. I'm surprised at Leicester if i'm honest, I thought they were in the best place to really push on this year - they have a better squad than Burnley for instance, but he has struggled to manage it. He had the backing, in January the club allowed him to get a very highly rated striker but they're still not cutting it.
  22. Liverpool fans never cease to amaze me, the deluded ****s. They wanted us to win today as they felt they still have a chance of the league. Seriously, really? Pillocks.
  23. I love Mane, I think he's terrific. So quick and so elusive in his touches, and by the time he's taken a touch he's gone passed you.... He's won us some huge points this year and has contributed here to a massive result. Quality player and he's silenced all the knee-jerking doubters he had at the start. Where are they now?
  24. Spurs look a mess, looks like we've gained a place in the league this weekend! Given the games coming up for Utd in the coming weeks, I don't think that 6 point lead they have is insurmountable. Ok, its looking likely that the top 4 will be the top 4 come the end, but there will still be twists. European football in any sense for us is a truly remarkable achievement, and given the fact that 7th looks likely to qualify you, we're almost there.
