Dybala scored 13 league goals and cost £25m in the Italian league. Bony only had 10 goals and he cost £32m Michu, during his hot streak, would have probably fetched £20m in the market.
-
They'll probably earn £500m in sponsorship's too. Still don't quite get your point.

Yep, and a hell of a lot of money! I dream of money...

People expect too much from the January window. We get it every year ''We need to break the bank and get player xx to push us over the line''. But that never happens, and even if a club does sign a player, they rarely have the impact expected (Caudrado at Chelsea being an example). The January window is kind of like a car boot sale, the clubs just put all their crap out on the front stool and hope someone is foolish enough to spend $$$$ on them in desperation.

The money they get from that is minuscule though, compared to 1) their global reach and fan base and 2) their global sponsorship's. Man Utd, Arsenal, Chelsea, City, even Liverpool have huge fan bases around the world - much larger than we will ever have. The reality is that the clubs with the bigger support base generally are the teams to catch. For us, it's about finding alternative ways - buying younger players, developing them, selling them for a huge profit and starting again etc. We'll never have the global catch that any of these teams have, so that's why anyone leaving us for a Top 4 club is pretty irrelevant really. They will always be able to afford the bigger financial packages, offer the biggest competitions. Maybe, just maybe, there will be a completely freak season which lets us in - but that's probably all we can hope for. In terms of us ever being a sustained top 4 team, we will need to be bankrolled quite significantly. It's pure fantasy to believe that teams failing in European competition will give us a better chance, because in reality it couldn't be further from the truth. We'd actually lose a place, thus meaning we'd need to finish Top 2/Top 3.

Got a feeling that this one will happen. I think we'll probably haggle QPR down a bit. Have a good feeling about this one if it does happen as well, he's just such a consistent goal scorer. Could be an amazing addition.

They won't. There was an agreement made last summer that he would go this year if an acceptable bid came in. He's clearly sought after, but as I alluded to further above, there are lots of very decent MC's on the move this summer that are potentially a cheaper option. Will be interesting to see how it plays out.

Osvaldo in the news for all the wrong reasons... again
S-Clarke replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Hopefully Liverpool. That would be a laugh. He can be Balloteli's replacement, or he can try and get both of them to play together. That would be entertainment for the season sorted. -
I think on the outside, he's a good player. Always gives 100%, works his arse off, has a bit of quality, but agree with you on the wage. In my opinion, he's 60-70k p/w tops. 200k p/w is crazy, and Morgan has every right to start screaming for that sort of wage if he moves!

Rodriguez has returned - BREAKING: NEW CONTRACT SIGNED
S-Clarke replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Jay has never really played as a striker for us. He just plays off the left, usually quite centrally, to join the main striker. I can imagine that's where he'll play. I don't think he's guaranteed that he'll become a first choice for us straight away though. I'd stick Tadic right, and Mane through the middle if i'm honest. But we'll have a few more additions to this area before the window is out, so lots of decisions to be made. -
Nah, it's from today - but their date is a bit mucked up I think.

The people who hit adkins with the ''he didn't win the league'' stick (saint_lard only tbh). Have you considered where the teams that won the league are now? They are both languishing at the bottom of the NPC. So winning the league was actually pretty irrelevant for both of them. Whilst it's nice to have honors, the rate in which we've progressed since is of much greater quality. Maybe he did have good quality players to work with, but those 2 years under Adkins were terrific. We played an attacking brand of football, scored tons of goals and broke so many records. He created a winning mentality and the players all bought into that and the environment he created allowed them to fulfill their undoubted potential, which is why we are where we are now. Iv'e seen a fair few clubs in the lower leagues who seemingly have lots of money to splash on players, but fail to get over the line. The fact is that he was a good manager, he achieved 2 promotions and we are now sat in the top half of the premier league and in European competition. I think he laid some pretty strong foundations to have made this possible. No one is saying he was a world beater, but what I recognize is that he was a very important cog in our recent history - and thankfully the majority of supporters feel that way.

I think we have the Lunatic Fringe on this thread.

I would have thought so, the bloke looked dead on his feet in the play off final. -

Victor Wanyama tells The Sun that Arsenal want to sign him
S-Clarke replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
This is exactly it, which people don't seem to grasp. Under Cortese there was genuine growth for the club, L1, NPC, bottom half of PL...but now, a club of our size has hit it's ceiling. The players know that themselves. That's all it is. -

S-Clarke replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
If this is how we're going to react when any of our players mentions the thought of another club, then we're going to have a very long 6 weeks. Bring on the season. -
Good for him. Trash player.

S-Clarke replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Nah. Suarez did the same last year, Lukaku is doing the same at the mo. Bale did the same before he moved from Spurs. Ronaldo before he moved to Madrid. It happens because it's the question of the month to ask...and they'll obviously give an answer like that. It's just generic really. Of course they'd like to play for that club, but if they don't bid, we don't accept, then it's a non-discussion point. But that doesn't sound interesting in the press, so they need to make a story. -

No ****. The only reason he jumped is because he got wind of something brewing, in my opinion. -
DONE DEAL: Saints sign Maarten Stekelenburg on season-long loan
S-Clarke replied to supersonic's topic in The Saints
Our new GK shouldn't be seen as a number 2, they need to be a number 1 straight away. That's why I think this guy will just be a loan as squad cover, we'll get an up and coming young keeper to replace Forster. That's my feeling anyway -

I think we're after 2x keepers, 1 loan and 1 youngish. This will be the loan I imagine. -

Good riddance to bad rubbish. This will allow a total restructure of the most corrupt organisation on the planet. -
Blatter has resigned.
