  1. Back on...?
  2. Always been a fan of Chaplow. Felt it was a bit of a coup when we signed him in mid-table of L1. Had a bit of a rubbish time at PNE, but that was because of the clown of a manger they had - not down to him as a player. I'll never forget that period between September > November in the championship, he was unplayable and won a fair share of games for us in that time frame. An excellent box to box midfielder and a decent bloke to boot. He will be a brilliant signing for Millwall if they get him.
  3. I believe we only paid around 1.8-£2m up front tops for him. Rest was on PL appearances and installments over periods of time. And given the fact he was only here for 6 months and didn't play once, I doubt those installments came into play. Safe to say we've probably lost something like 600k. No biggy. But still one of the oddest transfers in recent history.
  4. I wonder if he was actually any good? Weird, weird, weird. First time a club have ever paid 3-4m for someone, yet never played them, and sold them for almost the same amount 6 months later. work that out.
  5. Celtic are huge, they're a monster of a club. There's no point debating that. The issue is the league the play in and the money they're (not) able to generate. That's how we're being given the opportunity to such a good player. Personally, I wouldn't be expecting us to be battling relegation though. If we are, I'm not sure MP will be around for long......I think we've got big idea's for this season. We will surprise a few I reckon.
  6. Care to name all those teams, and all the players they've signed? (left, right and centre?)
  7. Been watching the developments of this from afar, but safe to say that I think this will be a very solid edition to team. What I believed we lacked at times last year, was a real presence and power through the middle of the park. Morgan and Cork are terrific in what they do, but there are some games where you just need a bit of physicality and power in there - and this is the sort of CM I think we've lacked for a while. Not afraid to pop up and take a shot either, an all action box to box power house. Which will leave us with potential midfield options of NI international captain - Steve Davis, Cork, Morgan and Wanyama. Not half bad eh?
  8. Doubt he'd be backup as such, but he'd add to the competition throughout the squad.
  9. Full of experience, can play as a DM or a CB. Adds quality squad depth, which is so important. Can't shrug at a player of his calibre on a free.
  10. That was a great match and a fantastic moment for British sport.
  11. Seriously, put him on your ignore list and be done with it. Do you think the rest of us want to read this inane utter trash? Cause I don't. I kind of wanted to read some updates on our potential signing.
  12. Jeez, what a dull forum this has become.
  13. These articles are so similar to last year, just replace Damiao with Rameriz and you wouldn't be able to tell the difference. Reckon we've pulled out all the stops to get him. and NC's record on getting ''big'' signings (in our respective leagues) over the line is pretty good to say the least.
  14. Napoli are a pretty impressive club, and probably the richest Italian club at the moment (although that's not saying a great deal!). Although I'd personally say that the Premier League as a whole will offer more of a pull than Serie A. It's not the league it once was, full of match fixing, drag sandals and the big clubs running out of money.
  15. Probably, kind of felt this for a little while. Fair play to NC for sticking to his guns, but sometimes you just need to take off the chains. Ok, he wasn't a massively high profile link, but Jemal is a fair reflection of how NC possibly reacts to having to pay additional cuts/% to other parties etc.
  16. Had a pretty solid Olympics in the summer and a terrific season for Bologna prior to that. Don't think he was massively unproven in that sense, I think he's probably the biggest signing we've made in the modern era. Well, he is if you look at just transfer fee. I had a look through the goal montage earlier, and if you want a showcase of Ramirez class, then you just need to have a quick glance through it. If he can start doing some of that stuff regularly next year then we will be flying. I've been one of the ones seriously frustrated by him, mainly because I know he's capable of much more on a consistent basis.
  17. Very true, if you want the big players everyone else wants....then you need to pay lots of different people a nice little cut. Welcome to the modern world of football. No more signing the likes of Richardson and Chaplow!
  18. Not sure what question marks Ramirez has over him at the time? He was courted by big clubs all summer, yet we came from nowhere and snared him. He had a bit of an up and down season, and frustrated the hell out of me at times, however he has undoubted quality. He just needs to learn and start making the right calls when it matters.
  19. Absolutely spot on. The internet has fueled the demand for non-stop updates and news. That's why it makes me laugh when you see the likes of Alpine hyperventilating because Cardiff have been linked with 4 players, but we've only been linked with 3. What are we doing, why are we sat on our arses etc etc etc.
  20. And there in lies the source of modern day impatience from forum posters.....
  21. A lot of panic over nothing really. If signings were straightforward then the football columns in the papers become meaningless. I think people read way too much into the comments MP said about the 1st of July etc.
  22. He was player of the year at De Graafschap when we signed him, and to be fair was very highly thought of over there. And you can't really judge a winger on goals scored.
  23. At the end of the day, this is the risk with foreign ownership of sorts. We have no say, we can't change what they want to do, they do what they want with our club. The fact is that they're doing a damn fine job of running the show at the moment, are proving to be ambitious and are investing into the team and infrastructure. It would be slightly different if they weren't doing any of that, but changing everything willy nilly. This is sometimes the sacrifice you take when you get taken over by foreign ownership. I think the question you all need to ask yourself is.........Would you rather be stuck languishing in L1 or the Championship with no investment, or back in the PL with a real ambition and opportunity to push forward - but with a red kit....? Pretty simple answer for me. I want my club to be as successful as it can be with owners who share that ambition.
  24. I didn't really care, didn't really register to me as I don't support Cardiff. Have we changed our colours? No, not really.
