If the results pan out as people are ''expecting them'' to, then Swansea could end up a couple of points clear of relegation. It's ridiculously tight.

Stop quoting Alpine. The reason he posts more when we lose is that he posts to make people bite, very sad and very weird, but if we all just ignored him, he'd shuffle off to the place he was hiding during our 6 game unbeaten run. He doesn't deserve the air time he gets.

Step-by-step guide to survival before kick off on May 19th
S-Clarke replied to SaintBobby's topic in The Saints
I dunno, got a funny feeling for Swansea. The fact is, that after their amazing season, they'll be only 5 points off the drop if Wigan win. 5 points. It's insane. They won't go down, but 5 points isn't a great deal. They want a top 10 finish and letting Wigan win will most likely mean they'll finish bottom half and near relegation, not a great preparation. They're without Michu, but they're a good side. It's a tougher one for Wigan as all the world is looking at them, everything is on this one game for them. They've created an expectation based on their previous end-of-season exploits (they had better players then, though) I'm pretty certain that they need to win this to survive, if they don't I can't see a way out for them. That sort of pressure can do some weird things. I don't think Wigan are good enough or strong enough to win 3 on the bounce, prove me wrong, but I think they'll come unstuck to a collective sigh of relief from the bottom half of the PL. I don't think i'm being arrogant i'm just looking at how Wigan have been over the last 4 years. Absolute dross. They're got a weaker squad this year than they've, ever, ever had - add to that their injuries. I'm pretty confident to be honest, I think Swansea are light years ahead of them quality wise, and the points gap just isn't a fair reflection. -
Completely taken out of context. That quote was from a long, long time ago and the article is based on absolutely nothing other than a 2+2=5 calculation by the tabloid.
-
Jeez. This article is just put together by a tabloid, there are no direct quotes in it and there's nothing to suggest that we're even anywhere near being interested in him. Yet somehow that's spun by the geniuses (good old Richmond) on here to make it look as if MP and NC aren't focused, brilliant. I don't get football fans, especially a fair few who post on here. The fact is he won't win, because we have some know it all idiots on these forums who would be so much better than him and NC. Give it a go, would love to see it.

Great post. Still think all will be sorted by mid-week. Fancy Swansea to become the most liked team in the land come Wednesday morning. -
Of course that will happen.

The pic shows the plaque in Markus old seat. ''In loving memory of Markus Liebherr'' - which is why it's always left empty.

I know, but their keeper still only had to make the 1 save. -
Tottenham 1-0 Southampton // Post-Match Reaction

Clyne missed a good chance, don't think it was a sitter - was very close. But other than that, we didn't really create a great deal to be honest. Played well enough, but not threatening enough in the 2nd half. -
Doesn't always pan out like that. QPR won't want to go down with a wimper, although they are pretty horrific so I do expect Newcastle to beat them. I can't see WBA losing 4 on the trot, they're a good outfit and will probably hold Norwich. I don't rate them at all for what it's worth, bog standard average side. Not much quality in there at all, could be in real trouble. A game against 2 teams both needing something often suits us better. For a start, the games will be open and attacking. Sunderland's back 4 is slow, leggy and struggles to cope with direct running and pace. If we can expose that and Jay can have a decent game, then we'll win comfortably.

Tottenham 1-0 Southampton // Post-Match Reaction

Probably a case of making the most of what we have. We could be more incisive, but our CB's clearly can't cope with pace and being exposed as they were early in the season. Best to play it safe for the remainder this year, and bring in the players next year who will make us more capable of being able to handle a more incisive game. -
Alcaraz and Figaroura are also missing for them.
-
We should be, but the next week will answer it all Bizarre twists and results have dumped teams who ere safe...right back into it. If Wigan beat Swansea, Swansea are only 5 points from safety and they're 8th. It's absolutely insane. Teams like Fulham, who were 10/11 points clear a few months ago, could end up 2 points clear. It's more akin to the Championship. Swansea will be the most supported club in the land on Tuesday night. If they can get a result, any sort of result at Wigan, then we'll all be breathing a huge sigh of relief. What with Wigan playing an FA Cup final and then away to Arsenal in a week or so, they need to win this. It's kind of their last chance saloon. Win or bust for them.

Tottenham 1-0 Southampton // Post-Match Reaction

Thought we played well, controlled large portions of the game, but just didn't have any sort of cutting edge. Lots of retention in places where it just didn't matter, and didn't make any difference. For all our work, the only save LLoris had to make was from a set piece. We just lack that yard of pace to get into the final third quickly. There were times when Lallana did great, but they just caught up with him within seconds as he's so slow and it's one of the reasons why he's still here and not at a big club. I thought Guly did well enough, didn't do anything wrong. The way the results have panned out over the last 2 weeks is the thing of complete nightmares. It's beyond logic. Swansea will be the most supported club in the country on Tuesday night, and if they can do us all a favour, I think we can then finally say goodbye to Wigan. -
He can't be registered for our squad, but he wouldn't improve it anyway. Not good enough.

Great finish, love the Championship for pure unpredictably and entertainment.

Name all the mistakes? I can think of 1 last weekend, but up until that he was part of a defence that had gone 6 games unbeaten in the PL. He hasn't been doing badly, which is why he's still in the team. I'd say he's in there on merit at the moment, but would still look to replace in for the long-term.
-
He's completely horrific, that's why he gets so much stick. Such a non-player, and bar a goal at Reading, what has he done for us? Absolute sod all, runs around, goes into a blind ally, losses the ball, fall over...repeat. Bolton fan's couldn't wait to get shot.
-
Guly will be deployed as an AMC I'd expect. Puncheon is a winger.
-
Aaron Lennon returns from injury to start for Tottenham against Southampton. nice one.
-
Morgan will be a massive miss. and the fact that De Ridder has made it onto the bench shows how crap our depth is.
-
We'd do well to attract anyone better than those 2.
