I thought he was pretty decent to be honest. Had his best time in England with us by a long way, technically very talented but did look a little awkward at times. Obviously his stand out game was Derby, but he did have a fair few other good games that season as well. Did a job for us in our ''staying up'' season too, but was on too much money to be kept on any longer than that.

Is anyone actually going to do the pathetic hanky thing?
S-Clarke replied to saint_sinner's topic in The Saints
I just saw 1. -
This was always going to happen. But what I found a bit weird was the fact that all media were asked not to interview fans prior to the game. Cortese obviously scared of getting a complete mauling live on TV.

He looked quite miffed at FT. MP's days are numbered.

Early days but could you see the changes with MP tonight?
S-Clarke replied to Pilchards's topic in The Saints
I think you're letting your heart win over there Crabs. There really wasn't anything different today than how we played under Adkins. -
The season before I believe.

Ronaldo is pretty handy, so I've heard.

I've said it before and I will say it again...

Best pundit on TV by an absolute mile. Sky got lucky with the Keys and Gray scandal. -

It's too early to say anything. It wouldn't have really been down to him if we won, or lost tonight. He's had no time to implement anything really. We played the same tonight as we played under NA many a time. Will be interesting to see what a tweaks in the coming weeks though, I don't think there's a great deal wrong with us. -
He was painted into this horrific GK on here, when in reality he did nothing wrong. He upset a few fans in the Chapel and all hell broke lose, and all of a sudden he's the worst GK in history. The fact was, and still is, that he's our best GK by a mile and given a run in the team, he was always going to demonstrate his qualities.

Who we've been linked with for January thread...
S-Clarke replied to Saint Garrett's topic in The Saints
Would imagine that the Verdu link is the standard.....Manager chases player from previous club... -
3 stand out. Yoshida, Morgan and Lambert. I'll give it to Yoshida as he's had a tough introduction to life here, but has grown with the team and has become a very consistent performer.

A game of 2 halves if there ever was one! We looked vibrant and positive in the first half, and in all honestly should have been at least a goal up. Tim Howard pulled off a great save to keep that at 0-0. You just knew Everton weren't going to come out and be as bad in the 2nd half, and they didn't. They had more about them and pushed us higher up the pitch, limiting our ability to play between the lines as we were doing so well in the first half. Ramirez become isolated and we become dependent on the long ball and hold up of Rickie Lambert, who was excellent tonight I felt. The 1st half was spot on though, and it's exactly how we needed to play against Everton. Purpose and pace throughout the final third, and getting Ramirez in the hole - he will make things happen, as he showed. Everton are a good side though, with experienced professional players and they turned the screw in the 2nd half. If Jelavic was on form, he'd have scored that for sure. Overall, I think both sides will come out and say that a point is a fair result considering everything that's happened. Keeps our unbeaten run going, and extends our gap between the bottom 3. It'll be interesting to see what Mauricio implements and changes over the coming weeks.

Yeah, been confirmed by himself that he's not involved tonight. He hasn't played since early December, so no surprise.

This was said before he'd managed us. That spell of 4 games is just a non-event, you can't really anaylse that at all. Wilkins is a good couch, those 4 games do nothing to change my opinion on that.
-
We don't play next w/e, FA Cup weekend.
-
Please put this guy to rest. They jump to him every time for some sort of ''fans representation'', when he's always so far from the general feeling. Please stop broadcasting him.
-
You're correct, he did. When Pardew was sacked, NC made a comment in the statement regarding Wilkins and how he'd now be the caretaker. Wilkins then actually came out in an interview to say that NC had given him a job for life, as he appreciated the job he'd done. But I don't believe Wilkins was sacked, I think he left out of decency due to how Adkins was treated. I don't think he felt he could stay on, which you can understand. He will be an enormous miss, that's for sure. He's had a huge influence in the up-turn of this club and I'll be forever grateful to that.

Who we've been linked with for January thread...
S-Clarke replied to Saint Garrett's topic in The Saints
He was a player and a half a few years ago, but fell away massively. Not sure how good he is now... -
In my line of work I am around high flying director/executive types all day. They're all the same. They don't care two hoots about you, they are only driven to securing the results they want. If that means pushing people out of the way to do it, then they do it. That's why they're successful and that's why they're very, very rich. None of these high-flying types are likeable people really, and I wouldn't' want to have a pint with them as I think they're all morons - but they do get results, so for that you have to say they know what they're doing. So far, NC has got results, although the result of his biggest gamble yet remains to be seen.

Why has no one mentioned Les Reed in the NA debacle?
S-Clarke replied to thefuzz247's topic in The Saints
A lot of assumptions are made about Les Reed, and a fair few are a load of rubbish. People keep bringing up the fact that he was the worst PL manager in history etc, ok was he? Stats? And what's that got to do with the role he's conducting now? People are quick to criticize him on pie in the sky assumptions, but slow to praise the influence he has had on securing our academy status and growing the development side of the club - which I feel, given time, will prove to be the relentless conveyor belt that Cortese is after. -
Coleman will be at RB I believe. Very talented attacking full back, but I'm not sure Guly is the type of player to cause him enough problems at the back. He's still young and can be naive at defending, and this is where I think we need a little bit extra on the flanks....I hope we sort that before January is out.

That's a real come down for Wesley. I'm sure he's better than that league......
