Sunderland have forgotten how to play tonight, they are complete turd. Not sure why some think it's a guaranteed defeat up there. If we play anywhere near we can then we'll win. They still have the slow, predictable midfield and the cumbersome back 4. Villa are proving this tonight with a little bit of movement and pace in the final third, it's making them look like a shambles.

Sunderland will probably score 1 or 2 more, but this is why i fancy Villa instead of Wigan. They can, and will score goals. Always a threat which is a big weapon to have.

Personally, I think this result sends Wigan to the brink.

Wigan must be kicking themselves tonight, they've had a couple of last minute throw aways recently. They're on the brink after this.

Would agree with that. He was one of our highest assisters last year, think he got 17 or 18 assists? may be slightly OTT with that, but it wasn't too far from that. Never really had many bad games for us, isn't anything special but is reliable, professional and would do a job if called upon between now and then. People forget that we had the likes of Telfer, Makin, Neileson at one point as our RB options. Let's think ourselves lucky we have a proper RB there!

Why would you be looking to replace either Cork or Morgan???????? Both of those stay as 1st names on the team sheet next year.

I'm not. 3 or 4 new players, no major influx IMO. We don't want to disrupt the English core we have here.

I reckon we'll see Astori. I think we need to make a statement signing at the back this summer, rather than in attack. Or, we could make a statement signing in 2 positions! I'd be happy with that...

It'll probably be a nominal fee if anything. 150-250k tops. Can't see him being worth more than that.

We're probably finish 13th or 14th on 41/42 points. Always kind of felt that. 2nd half of the season has been great, but we've never really been able to go that far with it because of our horrific start. If our start wasn't quite as bad, we'd be comfortably top 10 by now.

I'm amazed that some people have formed the opinion he is crap, based on absolutely nothing. Kind of learnt not to really read too much on here anymore, I mean the same people were writing Jay Rodriguez off earlier in the season after....2 weeks with us? Forren wasn't scouted by the likes of Everton and Liverpool for being ****, that's for sure.

Would have been a good story if he made it big here, but he was only ever a cover defender at L1 level if we're honest. Wasn't great at Championship level. Good move for him.

I think Villa are generally ****, and players like Westwood and Baker shouldn't be playing at this level. However, in Gabby and Bentenke they have players who can and will score goals. I think that'll be enough for them. Wigan don't really have that. I think this is one too many relegation battles for Wigan, no special stars to drag them out of it this year.

We don't need major surgery. I can see 3 or 4 signings tops. That is all we need. An injection of ''star quality'' at CB, a utility defender to cover all over the back 4 and maybe 1 or 2 wide players who can roam across the front 3. That's probably all we need. We've got the base of an exceptional young team and people would pay a lot of money for the likes of Lallana, Ramirez, Morgan, Shaw, Clyne, Cork, Rodriguez - so let's be pleased we have those as a base to work from. We're not that bad at all. Amazing how Alpine only comes alive after we lose. I don't get the crap that there's not much to talk about when we win, of course there is. There's the same amount of activity on here. It's just that a negative tone is what seems to drive you here, for whatever reason. Hey ho.

I think it'll be a draw tonight. 3-3....can see goals, and a last minute equalizer. Although I've not decided which team scores it yet. If Villa win, Wigan, IMO...are all but gone. Too cut adrift, 4 games left, a cup final in the middle and without one of their best defenders for the remainder. Too much to do. If Sunderland win, then it's even better for us as Villa only have 3 games left to overtake us, and one of those is against Wigan and another against Chelsea. So it then becomes almost a certainty that we're safe for another year. We can kind of watch this game with no pressure on it, as either result doesn't really effect us. Not trying to sound full of it, but that's kind of the truth. We're safe either way.

Up until Saturdays debacle, we were unbeaten in 6 and I think this was our best run in the PL since the days of WGS. So let's put this in some sort of perspective here. No one has taken their foot off the gas, we probably performed slightly above ourselves in the previous few weeks if anything and we're fortunate we got the results we did. However, i think everyone appreciates that we're a good side and aren't suddenly crap. If you want to know what crap is, re-watch Reading v QPR. That will tell you all you need to know. We've put ourselves into a great position from our 6 game run and it will take an incredible, absolutely unbelievable and un-seen turn of fate for us to go down. It's almost impossible, and probably will be in a week or so. We're closer to the top 10 than we are to relegation, yet people seem to think relegation is more likely. Chill.

The City game is the FA Cup Final tbh. Will be a pretty big distraction I'd say.

Probably on the Leicester forums, telling them how good a squad QPR have and how it will now be very hard for Leicester to be promoted next year.

Only player on show who could improve us is Remy, but he was pretty crap today as well. The rest on show is absolute complete and utter turd, and I wouldn't want it anywhere near my club.

2 rubbish teams playing out a meaninglessness game, with no quality on show at all. Both fairly relegated after having disastrous seasons. Will be a long way back for both sides IMO. More so for QPR. Could see them doing a Wolves quite easily.

I can't remember ever seeing a game as bad as this 30 mins in. It's like some sort of semi-pro non-league game.

I very rarely get any data connectivity at St Mary's. When we were in L1 and had a half full stadium it was better, but now it's just pointless trying as it just will not connect. Can't even make calls until I'm about 100 yards from the stadium. (Vodafone)
